Seems its true .

Today, Midway Games confirmed what had been rumored for a while: the first next-generation Mortal Kombat title, up until now called "Mortal Kombat 8" by the community, is officially titled Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. As the title suggests, it will be a crossover with the characters and setting of DC Comics. Further information about the game should be forthcoming.

In the meantime, a source within Midway sent us this image, which is the first promotional image from Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe; it features two of the characters from the game: Sub-Zero and Batman.

Oh for the love of God. Why would they pull this kind of crap and ruin what should've been the best MK game to date (provided the talk about a fresh story start with a new fighting system were true).

True, I thought some of the newer characters added into the last 2 MK games were kinda sad but they're still better than any DC crap.

I'm not sure what to think. Word is the game is gonna be bloodless and have no Fatalites. This could be a bad move for Midway. The fans on the Midway forums are it an uproar. Since there talks that this might be MK8. But i also here this is just a game on the WII for the little Kids that arn't allowed to play the M rated MK games. While X-box 360 and PS3 get the real MK8.

I hope either the latter is true or this is a side game.

Although it might be cool to see like Shao Kahn vs Darkseid or Kintaro vs Doomsday.

If this is true i might rent it. It may actuly turn out fun but i sure wouldn't buy it.

Image would probly blend beter with MK then DC would with characters like Spawn, Pitt, The Savage Dragon, Shadowhawk, Supreme, Cyberforce, and The Darkness.

Evreyone though it was a joke at first. Some still think it is.

Anyway i hear there won't be Fatalites but somthing like it. Meaning no killing i guess like a KO. And no death traps with little blood.

Though i could be wrong. I was wrong about it being only on WII. Turns out it's for PS3 and X-Box 360 and not the WII.

Oh there's blood in it, and death, just not the insane amounts that most fans are used to. I for one love this idea. We've has Marvel Vs Street Fighter, now we get MK vs DC. The fight mechanics in this game alone look like they'll totally make up for the lack of blood and guts (which isn't that important to me anyway).

This isn't the direction the series is taking, though. This is an off-shoot, again like what Capcom did with their Capcom vs Marvel series. I for one applaud them for both trying something different, and actually putting focus into the combat system over how much blood they can get in the game and keep an M rating.

Oh and they ommitted the stage fatalities, which is great because it sucks when you fight someone you know isn't as good as you but they beat you just because they punch you in the right spot at the right time.

Yeah i heard their won't be any clear stage fatalities. But still think there will be good amount of blood, as shown on the trailer. As long as you can beat someone to death, that should be good enough. DC VS MK doesn't mix but who the heck cares? Hours to kill for fun.

According to Gamespot:

"A more potentially controversial change to the system is the game's fatalities. According to Boon, there will definitely be fatality-like finishing moves, but they may not be called fatalities. After all, it's doubtful that Superman or Batman would be ripping out anyone's spines or hearts. That said, the team is hellbent on pushing the limits to what they can do with the DC characters, so you can expect to see blood and some level of damage accumulate during a fight."

This game looks like it has the potential to be really fun once you watch the trailer and the Ed Boon interview.

Click on Subs eye and you see 16 question mark boxes. I and some others speculate that its is for 16 MK characters and Batmans eye will become clickable later for 16 DC characters. Course it could just be for random art and screenshots like they did on MKA. I'd rather they didn't reveal all the characters like they did before anyway.
