November 4, 2003 — Will Ferrell, attending the "Elf" premiere, talked about the costume he wore in the movie, and his larger experience shooting it.
"They were surprisingly comfortable," the formerSaturday Night Live troupe member says. "They keep me warm. But they reveal everything, so you have to watch a lot of stuff. But there were no mishaps that I know of."
The same doesn't apply to Ferrell's character, Buddy. The irrepressible, accident-prone human is mistakenly raised by elves in the North Pole in Elf, which opens Friday. As a grown man, Buddy arrives in New York to connect with his biological father (James Caan), and naturally he wreaks havoc before bonding with his dad and finding true love.
Ferrell, 36, showed up with his wife, Viveca Paulin, who is five months pregnant with the couple's first child. The actor says he's "excited" about impending fatherhood.
Certainly, Ferrell loves to kid and play around. The actor, who streaked naked in the laugher Old School and who belts out carols off-key and routinely gets slammed by yellow cabs in Elf, says that even he gets embarrassed every once in a while. It's rare, but he blushes at "the DMV, when I get my picture taken. But I'm a stiff. I'm very boring. Oh, well."
