| How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... |
|
| If you have read the book by Nicholas Sparks, you will be sadly disappointed by the movie. Acting on the part of Garner and Rowlands is excellent. However, young Noah and young Allie are not portrayed well by these actors. They seem somewhat wooden. Much of the symbolism that Sparks uses in his book, and his sequel "The Wedding" are lost in the movie (eg: the significance of the swan is lost when Allie and Noah visit hundreds of white ducks. The ending is drastically different from the book, and will leave a fan of sparks writing quite frustrated. All in all, I gave the movie only one star. I was thouroughly disappointed. I felt that the great love Sparks describes in his novel is not portrayed in this movie. A movie-goer who has not read the book will probably appreciate this movie much more than one who has read it! I caught this movie on sneak preview on Saturday, June 12. |
