November 7, 2001 — Coming Soon! reports:
"TV writers Eve Ahlert and Dennis Drake are breaking out as feature screenwriters in love with romantic comedy, says Variety. The duo, who wrote the upcoming Peyton Reed pic "Down With Love" at Fox 2000, have closed a deal to write "Legally Blonde 2" for MGM and producer Marc Platt.
MGM has not yet signed star Reese Witherspoon or a director to the "Blonde" sequel, but the original "Blonde" was a surprise summer hit, generating $94.5 million in domestic B.O.
They're also developing an original script, "London Calling," for Jersey Films and Universal. It's a romantic comedy about a girl who travels to London to follow what she thinks is her destiny as a princess.
Renee Zellweger has just committed to "Down With Love," based on a spec about a feminist writer involved with a womanizing journalist." |
