September 4, 2002 — From MovieWeb:
Only two months after Warner Bros. promoted him to the position of executive vice president, worldwide motion pictures, the top film production post at the studio, Lorenzo di Bonaventura quit Tuesday, saying that he was unhappy with the "corporate" nature of the job. Today's (Wednesday) Los Angeles Times quoted sources as saying that di Bonaventura's resignation came after numerous clashes with Warner President Alan Horn, culminating with a disagreement over whether the studio should make a new sequel to Superman or a film titled Batman vs. Superman. A source told the Times: "Alan wanted to make Superman. Lorenzo wanted to make Batman vs. Superman. I know they polled the executives on which to make. Alan overruled Lorenzo and the project was shelved. ... After that, Lorenzo told people he was really upset at Alan. It wasn't just about this one movie, but it was this project that brought things to a head." |
