Update: Milla Out, Ali Larter in For RESIDENT EVIL 4?
By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor
Source: Ryan Rotten at Shock Til You Drop, Bloody Disgusting
Date: Friday, September 21, 2007
While attending the premiere of RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION, Ryan Rotten has posed the question of the franchise going onward even if the Alice storyline seems to be wrapping up. Actress Ali Larter has hinted that's definitely a possibility from what she's hearing. If the third installment is a success in the box office, the franchise of films may continue onward focusing on the character of Claire Redfield(portrayed by Larter).
Actress Ali Larter says she has "heard whispers" of a fourth "Resident Evil" film. The next chapter may spin off from the Alice arc and instead focus on Claire Redfield. "We'll see come Monday, right?"
It seems to fit. Claire is a character from the games and we could see sequels/prequels dealing with her brother Chris Redfield (another major character from the gaming franchise). Still, it depends on how well this installment does at the box office this weekend.
Update: Leading into some interesting questions about Alice's (Milla Jovovich) character having an open-ended possibility in the fourth film being mentioned above, I checked with Mr. Miska over at Bloody Disgusting and other sources around the net. Apparently, Milla has confirmed this will be her final appearance as Alice in the Resident Evil franchise at the premiere for the film. She's also hinted alongside Ali Larter that there may be a spin-off with Claire Redfield which as mentioned above, is based off a character in the video game series.
So, Milla is out from what she's telling various reporters, Ali is possibly in..
Resident Evil 4 in Larter's Future?

Actress Ali Larter says she has "heard whispers" of a fourth "Resident Evil" film. The next chapter may spin off from the Alice arc and instead focus on Claire Redfield. "We'll see come Monday, right?" Larter said at today's press day in Las Vegas referring, of course, to the box office results for Resident Evil: Extinction which opens tonight at midnight.
It was reported back in September that although the third installment in the Resident Evil franchise was still in production, the filmmakers were wasting no time casting the fourth film. At the time Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Dark Angel, Smallville) was in talks to play Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil: Afterlife (the fourth pic's working title).
However, Sony has provided us with the synopsis for the third RE film, Resident Evil: Extinction, which indicates the next film, may be the last:
The third and final installment of the $100 million RESIDENT EVIL hits, RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION is again based on the wildly popular video game series and picks up where the last film left off. Alice (MILLA JOVOVICH), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera (ODED FEHR) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke ) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead...and to seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive.
Resident Evil: Extinction arrives in theatres on September 21st, 2007.

That movie was really, really LAME!!!
I mean come on, as I sit watching the movie, it seemed as though the movie was just being rushed. Jumping from one thing to another. There was barely any story line, no character development, no nothing. It all just looked like another Zombie movie. Grant it, the action and gore was pretty good. But if you wanted story line, forget it. And Albert Wesker!! He looked so GAY!!! Nothing like the game. Plus his sunglasses were way to big! The Ending? That wasn't an ending, that was just crap! How are they going to end it like that and say that was the last one of the series? That just didn't make sense. Like someone else has said before, did Claire make it to Alaska? The movie is just stupid. They didn't even explain what happened to Jill nor Angie. That was crap. I mean I read the novel, and it was so good!! That is why I was so excited, but the movie bombed. The book explains what happened to Angie and Jill. The only thing I didn't like about the book is
They say Claire and Chris live in another city and they heard about Raccoon city. When everything started going down hill, they some how got seperated. And now she is looking for him. That means in this world, Chris is not even a STARS member!
So booo!! I highly recommend everyone reads the book. I just can't believe how disappointed I was at the end of the movie. I felt a little part of me die inside. I'm so glad I got in for free. That was a waste of time and it would have been a waste of money. I could been at home watching Heroes!!!!
Also, how the does Claire know how to fly a helicopter?
If anyone can explain that, please do! You can't stop Evil, you can only slow it down!

theShrimpWonder said: God, I seriously cannot understand how people can expect so much out of a movie, then when it doesn't come up to their god-like expectations, they cry and whine like little bitches. This is Spiderman 3 all over again: exaggerated anticipation and a decent movie equals bitchy, whiny fans crying their eyes out.
Guys, it was a good movie. Definitely better than the first two. So stop the bitchyness and stop pretending you're movie critics.
So your saying we can't speak our minds? Its just an opinion. If you don't like it, to bad, don't read it. All I'm saying is I didn't like it. I mean the movie was good if you like alot of Action and Gore. But other than that, no story! Just another Zombie movie! Not even close to half of the monsters from the game are in the movies. Only monsters are Zombies, Zombie Dogs, Crows, Super Zombies and a lame Tyrant. These movies are just about Alice. They should have just did the game script. That would have been easy. And in this one, its like they didn't even try to find someone that looked or acted like Claire. All I'm saying they could have done alot more with these movies. That is just my OPINION!!
You can't stop Evil, you can only slow it down!

Resident Evil: Extinction
Sienna Guillory did not reprise her role in Resident Evil: Extinction. During the film's pre-production stage, Guillory had confirmed in an interview with Empire magazine that she was given an offer but couldn't accept due to scheduling conflicts with Eragon.[5]
In the novelization of the film, however, it is revealed that she separated to draw off the FBI and managed to get them to accept the truth with Terri's videotape detailing the Raccoon City outbreak. She later meets up with Carlos but takes off again saying she no longer is going to be a part of the group. Later, she leads a group of people to supplies in Baltimore, and eventually becomes the leader of over a hundred survivors.
