Rocky Balboa is back and better than ever! During the press day to promote Rocky, the IESB talked to the creator, Sylvester Stallone, about recent rumors regarding future projects including Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards.
Recently it's been touted that Stallone's future will involve Inglorious Bastards, you can check out that article over at latinoreview here. So when we had some one on one time we had to ask, will he join up? Here's what he had to say -
IESB: You're working on Rambo?
Sylvester Stallone: Yes.
IESB: Are you also working on Inglorious Bastards?
SS: No, I gotta talk to Quentin about that, I've been reading about that. That's possible but I don't know how we would get together, it wouldn't be easy.
IESB: So Inglorious Bastards, that's not accurate?
SS: No, no, no...
IESB: There's a rumor going on, I think it started on an Aint It Cool News forum or something.
SS: I've been doin' that Q and A with them.
IESB: 200 questions, man, I can't believe you handled all those talkbackers!
SS: That's a rough group.
IESB: It is a rough group.
SS: There was this one guy that was saying some bad stuff and I just unloaded on him.
Later in the day, Stallone was asked what he really wanted to do after finishing the Rambo sequel. His response was,
SS: Every time you do a big film you should do a little film, you really should, it keeps you grounded. So I would like probably to direct Poe after this. I wouldn't be in it, you know, I would just be behind the camera but it's something I've wanted to do for, see I've talked about it so much I feel like I've made it 50 times [laughing], it'll probably bomb anyway, but I'll do it. You know, it's one of those tough subjects, but, it's a fantastic character piece. That's what I would probably do and then after that, who knows."
Well, for now count Bastards out, but in case you were wondering, according to Wikipedia Inglorious Bastards' origin is as follows,
Tarantino's movie title, Inglorious Bastards, is taken from the 1977 movie Quel maledetto treno blindato. The film was directed by the Italian director Enzo G. Castellari and was known in the United States as Inglorious Bastards. Tarantino's film is not intended to be a remake, but rather an homage to the earlier film, as well as The Dirty Dozen, The Great Escape, Where Eagles Dare, Cross of Iron and other war movies.
Set in World War II, the story revolves around a group of soldiers on their way to be executed, when they get the chance of a reprieve. Tarantino has described them as "not your normal hero types that are thrown into a big deal in World War II."
