Anticipation Level:
How excited (or not) I am to see this movie...
Ok, I halfway agree with the review titled "villains" for the upcomming Spidey film. Before I go any further, though, I will say that I am fully confident in Sam Raimi's ability to take what he has given us so far, and make it evolve into something even greater. It is too early to start recycling characters, such as the Green Goblin. Plus, everyone keeps ranting on about Venom and how he has to be in this sequel. That would be a quick story killer. You can't just say " okay, here's this character and this is what he does ." The story is what has made this franchise a success, and we have only seen a glimpse of what could be, so long as some one doesn't screw it up like the ill-fated, Post-Burton Batman franchise. I think Venom will make an appearance very soon, but not in this film. Here's what I hope will happen: John Jameson returns from a space mission, and something goes wrong as the shuttle comes down, sending it toward NY. Spidey gets involved, and rescues the crew and , while doing so, obtains the symbiote. J.J. Jameson gets all fired up about Spidey "nearly killing his son" and hires the Scorpion(like in the comics) to take Spidey out. Thus Pete has to deal with the scorpion and the sybiote trying to take over his body. And maybe he could get mixed up with the well-rounded Black-Cat. But hey that's just my idea. Hell, I'd settle for a Raimi rendition of James Cameron's script, with Electro and Sandman. So, Spidey-fans, don't be disappointed if Venom is a no show. And Sam, if you happen to catch this, keep up the great work.
