Spider-Man 3 Dominates the DVD Charts
Source: The Hollywood Reporter, Video
Business November 7, 2007
The Hollywood Reporter says Spider-Man 3 ruled the national DVD sales and rental charts for the week ending November 4.
The third installment in the hugely successful superhero series, which grossed $336.5 million in theaters during the summer, ended the two-week reign of Transformers on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart.
Spidey's pull was so great that a boxed set of all three "Spider-Man" movies debuted at No. 5 despite a $40 price tag.
On Home Media Magazine's rental chart, Spider-Man 3 generated estimated revenue of $9.7 million. Transformers slipped to No. 2 with $7 million.
On the high-definition disc charts, "Spider-Man 3" was an easy victor on Blu-ray Disc. On the HD DVD side, "Transformers" remained at No. 1 for the third consecutive week. Both titles are available only in their respective formats.
According to Video Business, the Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray Disc sold 130,000 units in its first six days on shelves.
The studio shipped about 400,000 Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray Disc units to retail for the title's Oct. 30 bow, making first-week sell-off about 30%. Sony said that does not include units bundled with the new $399 PlayStation 3.
That street week sell-off bested the comparable kick-off frame for Casino Royale on Blu-ray by more than three times. Casino Royale, which sold 40,000 Blu-ray copies in week-one sales, had been Sony's No. 1 performer in the format to this point.
The top-opening Blu-ray title across studios is believed to be Warner Home Video's 300, which the studio reportedly sold 250,000 units on the HD DVD and Blu-ray formats combined. It's believed about two-third, or 165,000, of 300 units were Blu-ray.

You people who liked this film are funny.
Of course it would sell more after most people already have Transformers sitting on their shelf at home. You did read the part where Transformers was already out in stores for 2 weeks before SM3 was, right??
The truth of the matter is the article failed to mention Transformers first week sales was higher than SM3. Transformers still holds the new record for most copies sold in the first day of release and outsold SM3 by over a million copies for the first 7 days. The standard-def version of Transformers sold over 8.3 million units in its first week, and 4.5 million on day one.
Truth hurts. Doesn't it??
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
What is this? The annual "Be-Childish" awards.
Seriously, how many months has it been of nothing but "I LOVE IT SO THERE!" "I HATE IT SO THERE!"?
I think we now know exactly who liked the movie, and who hated it.
So, taking into account how sick I am of hearing these utterly pathetic arguements and seeing as everybody seems to be as stubborn as everybody else, why don't we all just move on, shut up and find the next movie to bitch and/or praise about?
Wally West said: And thats beside the fact that Spider-man already had a huge fanbase to go out and spend; Transformers had to make it on its own steam.
Actually, when my best friend got me into Transformers about 2 years ago I was really surprised at how huge its fanbase was.
And I don't really count over half the Spider-Man fanbase seeing as the majority seem to be kids or over-zealous people who have never read a Spidey comic. The Doctor: Even the monsters under your bed have nightmares...
Reinette: What do monsters have nightmares about?
The Doctor: Me!

What kind of a bull**** report is this?! Honestly it is not statistically logical to compare the Spider-man 3 dvd sales on its first week to Transformers dvd sales onits third week and come up with the conclusion that it dominated.
By that logic I can say that Bee Movie is dominating Spidey in the box office as Spidey is currently not making ANY money in theaters right now. In fact I guarantee every DVD that will be released a month from now will " dominate" Spidey 3
The only fair comparision is to compare sales of the two DVDs during their respective first weeks, or even first day of release. Once you do that you will see that Spidey 3, diservedly, does NOT wwin the DVD sales between the two.
Who ever is claiming that Spidey 3 dominated the Transformers DVD sales is just plain stupid, given the facts.
As for saying Spidey dominated blue Ray sales, who cares. I got it on blue ray but what was competing with SM3 on blue ray that day? Besides it doesn't prove anything since Transformers was only on HD DVD.
You guys are clutching straws right now. Face it, it wasn't the the most satisfying movie that came out this summer.
And don't any Spidey fans retaliate. You know full well you would argue with us if we said "Transformers has sold more copies in total" by arguing that "its not fair! its been out for 3 weeks already, it had a head start"
Stupidity does not make things true Oh snap!! This thread just got served

I'd be laughing WITH you if I thought you were cracking wise, but instead I'm just laughing AT you. Maybe, just maybe having a life should be a requirement for that textbook, cliche, and just plain ancient insult. Thats so bad that who ever says that is automatically assumed to be the one who lacks any evidence of a life.
dude you are so pathetic lol. Next you'll become cyber tough right? Retaliate by saying that I wouldn't be saying that if I was talking to you face to face and that you can kick my ass any day of the week. Which again everybody knows means the guy saying that is, in fact, the one that would be the last person on earth to talk back to someone face to face.

uuuuuummmmmm.........yeah you should look at what you quote dipstick. I quoted you on trying to insult others for "having no life". This in fact makes YOU the special case of pathetic you attempted to label me as being.
Why is this you ask? Because you were the pathetic loser who started insulting others. All I did was comment on how pathetic you were for throwing out that lame insult. As for your attempt at explaining why people think the movie suck:
The_Star_Treker said: one just bull****ing and whining about comic book films that don't come out the way they want them to
Thats just a dumb, retarded arguement. Spider-man 3 was just poorly written. Say I wrote a movie, NOT a comic book movie, and used amnesia to conveniently wipe out what ever I wanted to to establish a relationship and have a sip of whiskey bring those memories flooding back. Or the reason why my protagonist is a protagonist is all wrong because I wanted to throw a twist at the end making everything that happened before irrelevent
These are very poor plot devices( ones that can be used in an movie ) that would send the movie I wrote straight to DVD, yet we have Spider-man fans arguing that its great. Why? Because its a Spider-man movie.
Some argue that those that hate it are fanboys that are too picky, others argue that those that like it are fanboys that like it because its a Spider-man title( ding ding ding give them a prize ).
Simply put, Spider-man is a bad movie( key word is movie NOT comic book movie ) because its a bad movie, NOT because it wasn't done my way but because it was poorly written. I wouldn't have done Spider-man 1 and 2 the way they did but I still liked them. Why is Spider-man 3 different to me? Its badly written. NOTHING more than that Oh snap!! This thread just got served
