| How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... |
|
Let me start off by saying that I am a Hulk fan and that I am amoung the minority who felt the Ang Lee film did a fantastic job with the character.
I never felt the Hulk would ever translate well to the screen and both the film (which only altered the story to update it a bit)and the old TV series (which altered the source material quite a bit) are testiment to that.
The fact that Hulk's origin story is now out of the way and they have brought in Louis Leterrier leads me to beleive that the new film will be an action/adventure story and not a suspense/drama as is the norm for the Hulk. Hopefully casual fans will finally get the Hulk they want (although I don't think the general public will be happy until Joe Fix-It or the Professor Hulk are introduced... Those are the true action heroes in the Hulk stories).
A couple of things the new movie needs to avoid:
1)Changing the Abomination too much... although some changes will be needed as the Abomination was a product of the Cold War as was the original Hulk.
2) Keeping the Hulk a mute. The fact that Ferrigno has been in talks with Universal is good as he did the voice of the Hulk in the mid-90's TV cartoon show. (Ironically he did not do his own roaring in the original TV series. That was dubbed by the guy who narrated the opening sequence every week.) |
