Hey, everyone. It's been a few years since I made a Hulk fan fiction and after seeing the new movie, I can't wait to see another "Hulk" film.
So, I've already written and completed my idea of what a sequel for "The Incredible Hulk" should be like and I'm writing "Hulk III" at the moment, too.
For now, here are the first 40 pages of the script. And be warned -- if you haven't seen the new movie yet, DO NOT READ THIS SCRIPT. I DO NOT WANT TO SPOIL ANYTHING FROM "THE INCREDIBLE HULK" FOR YOU IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET.
Also, I'll have an "Avengers" fan fiction on CountingDown soon too, and an extended "director's cut" version of this story soon so you can see what was cut out and why.
For now, though, please read and enjoy "The Incredible Hulk II".

[SPOILER]
EXT. ROAD - DAY
Cars, trucks, and vans of various colors and sizes
drive on the road in opposite directions. Down the far
end of the road, it splits into two lanes, with the
right lane being an exit road that goes down to town.
Camera PULLS BACK and SCROLL ON DOWN to the western end
of the road. It zooms down, past car after car, as
they pass by. A familiar tune now plays -- sad,
hauntingly beautiful -- "THE LONELY MAN" THEME.
ANOTHER ANGLE - Down at the beginning of this road, a
MAN walks on one side, moving up the road. The man is
wears a jacket, jeans, shoes, and a backpack. The MAN
turns around to the cars that drive pass him, and we
see the man's face -- the sad face of DR. BRUCE BANNER.
He sees a white truck drive up. He sticks out his
thumb for a ride. No success. The car drives past
him. A second truck, red, drives up the road. Bruce
tries again. The truck drives past him. Bruce turns
around and watches the truck drive off. He stands
still, staring at the truck as it leaves up the road.
A beat. Bruce continues to walk up the road.
ANOTHER ANGLE - FURTHER UP THE ROAD. Bruce walks up
and looks over his shoulder. A silver Toyota Camry
drives up the road. Bruce sticks out his thumb. The
car drives up to him, gets closer. The corners of
Bruce's lips curl, close to a smile. The Camry drives
up to him -- and past him. Bruce turns and watches the
car drive off. He shakes his head. Bruce continues to
walk up the road, farther...farther...
ANOTHER ANGLE - Through the windshield of a black Ford
Focus, Bruce is seen walking by up the road, with his
back turned to the unseen driver. He doesn't notice as
it slows down. The Camry slows down and finally parks.
Bruce turns, sticks out his thumb -- and freezes.
CLOSE UP (CU) ON - BRUCE'S FACE. He just stares ahead.
He trembles a bit, staring in shock.
ON THE CAMRY - Seated in the driver's seat is a
familiar, beautiful brunette woman -- DR. BETTY ROSS.
She looks at Bruce for a moment. She can only stare.
Betty fights back tears as her eyes meet his. She
keeps her eyes on Bruce as she unbuckles her seat belt.
Bruce walks over and before the parked Ford Focus.
Betty steps out of the car, closes the door, and she
stares ahead at Bruce. She blinks and tears roll down
her cheeks.

Bruce...
Bruce stares at her. She takes a step forward to him.
He takes a step back. They both stop, and look at one
another. Betty takes one step towards Bruce. And then
another step. Another. She walks to him slowly. He
takes a step back, hesitating. Betty keeps walking to
him, slowly, one step at a time. She stands before
Bruce and she stares at him, blinking out more tears.
She holds up her hand, and reaches out to hold his.
CU - ON BRUCE. He forces a sad smile at the woman he
loves. His eyes look off to the side. His smile fades
and his expression changes to a look of fear.
CU - ON BETTY. Off his worried look, Betty turns her
head and looks right at --
BETTY'S POINT OF VIEW (POV) - The cars have all stopped
and are parked. Road blocks stand at the end, with
ARMY TROOPS either standing behind the blocks or are
seated in military jeeps. Two helicopters are in the
air, flying towards the blocked-off area.
ANOTHER ANGLE - Bruce and Betty look at the Troops, and
then glance fearfully at one another. Bruce looks at
the heart-monitor watch on his left wrist. He looks up
at Betty and turns to go. He doesn't get far. He
stops running as more jeeps approach. A military jeep
is among the cars, parked near Betty's car. The front
passenger door opens and out steps Betty's father,
GENERAL THADDEUS "THUNDERBOLT" ROSS, in an Army uniform
of his own.
CU - ON ROSS. He sneers at Bruce, his eyes narrowing.
INSERT - On the screen of Bruce's watch. His heart
rate is going up. 145 -- 147 -- 150 --
Bruce looks at his watch and tries to calm down.
BETTY
Bruce!
Betty goes over and sets her hand on Bruce's shoulder.
He wraps his arms around his chest and sets his hands
on his arms. He closes his eyes, trying to keep calm.
BRUCE

A DART is shot out and hits Bruce in his neck as she

knees. His heart rate goes up again.
BETTY
Bruce!!
Bruce pulls the dart out of his neck. He looks at it.
ZOOM IN and quickly CLOSE UP -- on Bruce's eyes. He
stares at the dart. His blue pupils change color, and
glow bright green. The sounds of BRUCE'S HEART BEAT
are audible. His face slowly changes color to green.
Betty steps back, away from BRUCE (OFF SCREEN/O. S.).
The audible HEART BEAT pounds harder now, and faster...
The sounds of tearing clothes become audible and we
hear BRUCE'S GRUNTS as we hear his bones POPPING, and
his VOICE CHANGES as he GRUNTS. Betty stares ahead at
BRUCE (O. S.), moving back from him slowly.
Ross holds up a walkie-talkie.
ROSS
Unit one, get into position.
ANOTHER ANGLE - Where Bruce once was, now there is his
nine-foot-tall, green-skinned, muscular alter-ego
instead: the incredible HULK. His pants are torn,
now tinged purple, and are barely fitting his size.
Hulk lifts his head up, opens his eyes and looks at
Ross with an angry glare. HULK GROWLS at Ross and he
gets up to his feet, making his hands into fists.
BETTY
Bruce! Don't do it!
Hulk turns around and looks at Betty. His angry look
quickly disappears. He looks at Betty, calming down.
She takes a step towards Hulk and she keeps her eyes on
him. Betty gives the Hulk a soft smile and reaches her
hand up and out to him.
BETTY

Betty's hand stops as a hand GRABS her wrist. Betty
turns to see General Ross next to her and he pulls her
away. Hulk looks on, looking a bit worn out.

eight and a half feet...eight feet... Ross smiles and
holds up his walkie-talkie.
ROSS
The tranquilizers took effect in time.
The target's ready.
Betty turns around and notices a military jeep parked
behind her car. A rocket launcher is mounted on the
back of it. Its rocket aims ahead and right at the
Hulk. Betty turns to see the Hulk, as he continues his
change back to Bruce, and she eyes him with horrified
realization. She struggles to get loose from Ross's
grip, but he manages to pull her back and over to a
small team of awaiting Troops.
BETTY
No! No! HOLD YOUR FIRE!!
(screams)
BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!!!
Just as Bruce Banner reverts to his normal self, he
looks up and groggily opens his eyes, just as --
BRUCE'S POV - The rocket is fired. It heads right at
him and before it can hit him --
INT. BETTY'S HOME - BEDROOM - LATE NIGHT
Betty, in a black nightgown, sits up in her bed and her
eyes are wide open. She's drenched with sweat, out of
breath. She is wearing the necklace Bruce sent back to
her. Betty is panting as she looks around, realizes
where she is, and she looks ahead at her bedroom wall.
A nightmare. Everything we saw was just a bad dream.
Betty tries to calm down, still out of breath. She
SIGHS and lowers her head.
CU - ON BETTY. Her breathing returns to normal. She
closes her eyes. A beat. Betty puts her hand over her
necklace. A beat. Tears roll down her cheeks and she
breaks down SOBBING. Betty closes her eyes and CRIES.
A beat. Betty continues CRYING and she sadly WHIMPERS.

DOWN SHOT ON - BETTY. She continues SOBBING. Camera
slowly pulls back, zooming out.
INT. CABIN - LATE NIGHT
The walls of the bedroom are old and faded. There is a
lone window, where a bright full moon shines in the
sky. Seated on his own bed is Bruce Banner, wearing a
white tank top and baggy purple pants. He is seated at
his desk and mixing a green formula in a test tube with
a big metal spoon. A microscope, with a drop of blood
on its slide, is set near him. A TITLE CARD APPEARS.
TITLE CARD
VANCOUVER - CANADA
The title card fades away. Bruce stops mixing, picks
up the test tube, and lets two drops of the formula
drop onto the blood sample on the microscope slide. He
sets the slide back under and looks in the microscope.
BRUCE'S POV - Under the microscope are red blood cells.
The blood cells turn green and start to get bigger.
The green formula covers over the cells, and they stop
growing and return to normal.
Bruce looks at the blood cells. A beat. He waits.
BRUCE'S POV - The blood cells are still red. The red
blood cells start to grow bigger, turn green, and get
so large they BREAK the glass of the microscope.
Bruce looks away. He shakes his head.
INT. CABIN - LATE NIGHT
Bruce sits at his desk. He writes on a notebook with
his pencil. An open can of Pringles is set near his
stacks of papers and journals. Among the books on the
top shelf of his desk are books about radiology,
science and bio-genetics.

DAYS WITHOUT INCIDENT:
Beside the : of the title card is a countdown clock.
The numbers of the countdown clock change to 42. He
continues to write on his notebook page, as the title
card and countdown clock FADE AWAY.
ANOTHER ANGLE - Bruce turns his notebook to the next
blank page and he continues to write.

INSERT - ON THE BLANK NOTEBOOK PAGE. Bruce writes on
the page and he NARRATES what he's writing.
BRUCE (VOICE OVER/V. O.)
My latest formula to try and cure my
gamma irradiated cells has failed again.
However, I have managed to successfully
repress the last five metamorphoses from
occurring. With the right amount of
concentration, I have managed to use
meditation and yoga to keep my...other
side...from resurfacing. The treatments
I have used, while going well, are still
a work in progress. These meditations
will have to do for now, as continuing
these studies will not be a replacement,
nor a distraction, for my ultimate goal.
I must continue to find a cure.
Bruce stops writing. He looks up from his notebook,
sets his pencil down and looks at the wall. On his
wall is a lone, torn-out newspaper article with a
photograph, held on by a red thumbtack -- of Betty
Ross, standing in a laboratory. Bruce stares at the
photo. A beat. His hand reaches up and is gently set
over Betty's hand. He sadly stares at the photo.
CU - ON THE PHOTO. Upon closer look of Betty, we see
her smiling, holding a journal under her arm.
Bruce stares at the photograph of Betty. Tears well up
in his eyes. Bruce lowers his head, takes his hand off
of the photo, and he silently starts to cry.
ANOTHER ANGLE - Bruce lowers his head. He continues
SOBBING. He puts his hand over his eyes.
EXT. CABIN - SUNRISE
The cabin is alone, in the middle of nowhere. The
front door opens. Bruce steps out and looks at the
area he's on. Trees go out as far as the eye can see,
there are flowers on the front lawn, etc. Bruce looks
to his right at the ocean, and admires the view.
EXT. CABIN - DAY
Bruce sits down on the front lawn, crosses his legs and
prepares to meditate.

EXT. CABIN - FRONT YARD - DAY - MINUTES LATER
Bruce sits cross-legged, eyes closed, looking calm. He
is breathing normally.
CU ON BRUCE - He opens his eyes. They are green now.
He keeps calm. A beat. He shakes for a moment. A
beat. Bruce tenses. He starts to sweat. He trembles
for a moment, but tries to look calm. He breathes in
and out... In... Out... The green tinge fades from
his eyes.
ANOTHER ANGLE - Bruce sits a moment. He heaves a SIGH.
He wipes the sweat from his brow.
INT. CABIN - BEDROOM - DAY
Bruce is at his desk, writing.
BRUCE (VOICE OVER/V. O.)
My latest meditation was somewhat of a
wake-up call...a warning.
Bruce continues to write, looking troubled.
BRUCE (V. O.)
While I originally thought that I was
starting to gain some sort of control,
some hold over suppressing the change...
I felt my control over it slipping away.
I can feel it getting stronger inside of
me. I fear the meditation techniques I
have tried may not last much longer.
INSERT - ON THE PAGE. Bruce has already written down
what he has narrated. He writes the following...
BRUCE (V. O.)
I need to find a way to continue my
research, to develop a new formula. I

EXT. CABIN - FRONT YARD - DAY
A lean, fit mid-20s blond man in work-out clothes,
DANA, sits cross-legged on a blanket on the ground.
Bruce is seated before him, in workout clothes.
DANA
All right. Let's try it again. If you
want to keep calm and stay in control,
one of the best ways to do it is to
focus on something to keep you calm.
Bruce closes his eyes and starts to meditate.
DANA
Clear your head of everything else
around you. Ignore every sound, every
smell, every negative feeling.
Bruce continues meditating while Dana speaks.
DANA (CONTINUED/CONT'D)
Focus on that one thing to keep you
calm. Focus. Concentrate.
Bruce keeps his eyes shut. He keeps calm, and his
breathing remains steady.
DANA
That's it. Nice and easy. Concentrate,
Neal. Concentrate.
INT. BRUCE'S HOME - BEDROOM - NIGHT - FLASHBACK
Bruce and Betty are lying on a king-sized bed, wearing
lab coats over their clothes. Betty lays her head down
on Bruce's chest. She smiles at him. He returns the
smile, and strokes a lock of hair away from her face.
The memory of Betty starts to darken and goes black, as
a rapid beeping sound becomes audible.
DANA (O. S.)

Concentrate! Don't lose it now! Focus!
You've already come this far!
Bruce trembles as he sits. His heartbeat is at 175...
176...178... Then it remains the same. It slows down.
It drops to 175... 171... 168... 165... 163...
DANA
That's it, Neal. You're doing it.
Bruce's heartbeat goes down. It beats normally. Bruce
opens his eyes. They are still normal. Dana smiles.
NEAL
You're doing it.
(sighs)
You scared me there for a second. How do
you feel now?
Bruce smiles with relief.
BRUCE
Calm.

Betty sits at a table at her computer. The screen
shows data reports about gamma radiation. Set beside
the computer are a small stack of books, which talk
about radiation therapy and radiation poisoning.

GUARD (O. S.)
Doctor Ross?
Betty looks up from her book and at the open doorway.
A SECURITY GUARD, as muscular as a bodybuilder (and who
looks remarkably like Lou Ferrigno), stands in the lab.
GUARD
I'm sorry if I startled you. I didn't
know you were still here.
Betty looks at the clock on the wall. It's 10:40 p.m.
BETTY
Oh, I... I didn't know it was so late.
Betty closes her book, picks up her bag, and starts to
load her books in her bag. The Guard notices her sad
look and walks to her. He puts a hand on her shoulder.
GUARD
Are you okay? Is something wrong?
BETTY
Oh...No. No, I'm all right.
The Guard looks at her doubtfully. A beat. He SIGHS
and nods at Betty.
GUARD
I'll walk you to your car.
BETTY
Thank you.
Betty stands up, and she follows the Guard down the
room and to the door.
EXT. WAREHOUSE - LATE NIGHT

INT. WAREHOUSE - LOWER LEVEL LAB - LATE NIGHT
The large laboratory, twice the size of a normal lab,
is equipped with new, sleek computers, with dozens of
tables covered with microscopes, test tubes filled with
serums, syringes, and other gadgets and scientific
equipment. A man, SAMUEL STERNS, sits on a chair at
his desk, seen from behind. His head is blocked by the
back of the chair. He's wearing a lab coat over his
clothes and gloves.
STERNS
My recent experiment with one of the
local brainless campus students has
been another failure. My continuation
for failure has becoming something I
simply cannot tolerate any longer.
ZOOM IN CLOSER to Sterns. We don't see his head or his
face, but he's holding a tape recorder in one hand. It
is hooked up to the computer on his desk.
STERNS
I must continue my search to find any
known data of the experiment that my old
friend, Dr. Bruce Banner, better known
as Mr. Green, was working on. Banner is
the key to the success of my genetic
experiments. Even with all of my vast
knowledge, I can't recreate what he did
without unearthing the rest of the data
that turned Banner into the Hulk he
transforms into today.
Sterns turns his chair around and reveals his face for
the first time. He is literally a changed man. His
skin is tinged green, he has grown a mustache, and his
bald head has grown twice as large as before.
STERNS (CONT'D)
And thanks to the brilliance of Dr.
Banner, his mutation has changed me into
the man I am today. While my mutation
increased my intelligence exponentially,
becoming even more brilliant than I was
before, I have yet to inherit the raw
physical power and brute strength than
what Dr. Banner or General Ross's
abominable soldier, Emil Blonsky, had
possessed. My strength is still that of
a normal man. But all of that shall
change within due time.

INT. WAREHOUSE - MUTATION LAB - LATE NIGHT
A 21 year old, athletic student, KEN RICHARDS, is on a
propped up lab table. He is shirtless, wearing baggy
blue shorts, a gag is firmly planted in his mouth, and
his wrists and ankles are chained to the table. Ken
lets out muffled GRUNTS as he struggles to get loose.
Sterns stands by the table and smiles at Ken.
STERNS
You don't really think that you're
actually going to get loose, do you?
Ken looks at Sterns, glares angrily, and resumes
struggling. Sterns shrugs and walks over to a wide,
twenty-foot tall metallic machine behind Ken's table.
STERNS
Oh, well. It's your choice.
Sterns grabs several electrodes that are hooked up to
the machine.
INT. MUTATION LAB - LATE NIGHT - MINUTES LATER
Electrodes are set on either side of Ken's forehead,
his chest, his heart, and his forearms. Straps are
fastened to Ken's chin and forehead to keep his head
still. A scanner, attached to the ceiling and hooked
to the machine, is set several feet in front of Ken's
head. Ken continues to struggle to get loose.
INT. MUTATION LAB - CONTROL ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Sterns watches Ken through a glass shield in the next
room. He stands at a control console and he types on
the control keyboard.
STERNS
Now, if my calculations are indeed
correct, and they always are, this new
serum that I injected you with will be
able to increase the strength of your
body a thousand-fold. If this works, at
best, you'll be the strongest quarterback
on campus if this and become a green-
skinned, eight-foot-tall version of your
present self. At worst... well, I'd
say you can figure that out yourself.
Ken continues to struggle, letting out MUFFLED GRUNTS.
He's starting to panic. Sterns smiles.

Let's hope you survive the experience,

Sterns flips a switch and he activates the machine.
The scanner buzzes and is switched on.
INT. MUTATION LAB - LATE NIGHT
Ken looks on fearfully and struggles as the scanner
beams a green light and a green target shape on his
forehead. The scanner moves from left to right and
then left.
CU ON - THE SCANNER. As it moves left, the shine of
the green light shines brighter.
ON KEN - The scan makes him arch his back and he lets
out MUFFLED SCREAMS. Ken shuts his eyes tight as his
veins start to swell. His muscles go taut, stretch and
start to grow out in size. Ken's MUFFLED SCREAMS
continue, as the sounds of his BONES POPPING become
audible. His skin slowly changes tinge to green, and
the tinge of his pants turns to purple. Ken starts
struggling more intensely, as his growing weight makes
the table CREAK and slowly sink down. Ken bites into
the gag, tearing it off, and he SCREAMS with agony.
ON STERNS - He watches Ken, studying his reactions. He
looks on as Ken continues to get more muscular. He
smiles as he watches Ken's growing physique. The
monitors Ken is hooked up to beep louder. Sterns looks
at his control console and eyes his computer screen.
The heart rate on the screen gets higher and higher --
215... 219... 225... 233... 244... Sterns looks up
at Ken as he SCREAMS in a DEEP, GROWLING VOICE. His
body swells up continuously, like water filling up into
a balloon and --
ANOTHER ANGLE - Sterns steps back, wide-eyed, as he
watches KEN (O. S.) continue to swell and his SCREAMS
get LOUDER until -- POP!! Sterns looks away as green
blood splatters on the glass screen. Sterns turns his
head aside and he SIGHS.
STERNS
Well...I'm certainly not looking forward
to cleaning up THAT.
Sterns looks at the data on the computer screen. One
of the readouts catches his eye. Sterns looks at the
data for a moment. He smiles.

book by Dr. Topolov. A gym bag is on the floor by her
feet. The door swings open and Betty looks up from her
book, as CARL - 45, bald and as fit as a bodybuilder -
looks out at her. He's wearing a tank top and shorts.
CARL
Sorry to keep you waiting. Are you
ready?
BETTY
Let's do it.
Carl smiles as Betty closes her book, picks up her bag
and stands.
INT. TRAINING CENTER - DAY
The room has various weights of different sizes and
several fitness machines, such as treadmills and
exercise bikes. Carl reaches for Betty, but she blocks
his reach and moves back.
CARL
Good. Now, remember what we learned.
Carl puts on a set of goggles over his eyes. He
reaches for Betty, but she pokes at his goggle-covered
eyes with her fingers. Betty follows up by kicking her
knee up to his groin, but stops just before she hits
him. Carl smiles and nods, stepping back.
CARL
You're doing very well. I'm very proud
of you, Betty. Now, when someone comes
at you, let's say as big as me, they may
have you at a disadvantage in terms of
strength. But I'm going to help you
make sure you can hold your own if you
ever get into trouble. Are you ready to

Yeah. Yeah, I'm ready.

wrist.
CARL
Not bad. Let's do it again.

The screen changes to a photo of a late-40s, bald man
with glasses -- DR. YURI TOPOLOV. Bruce scrolls down
the screen with his mouse and looks at the profile of
Topolov listed below it.

One of the books in Bruce's stack is the same book by
Dr. Topolov that Betty was reading.
BYRNE
You're working kind of late, aren't you?
BRUCE

Sterns clicks on the Institute and the screen reads

this. He puts a Removable Disk in his computer, types
on the keyboard, and the six-digit code automatically
enters into the Password bar on its own.
A new window pops up on the screen and shows several
photographs of prototype suits of armor -- one is solid
dark gray with mini-guns on one shoulder, one armored
suit is gray and black with red slits for the eyes and
mouth, etc. Sterns smiles as he looks at the photos.

Sterns looks at the next photo. He clicks his mouse on
the screen and smiles.
ON THE SCREEN - There are five suits of armor, similar
to the Mark I Iron Man suit. These, however, are eight
feet tall, a bit more massive in the chest armor, and
have gray face-plates. Dark green slits are on the
face plates for the eyes and mouth.
Sterns smiles as he eyes the screen. Listed under the
photos are a warning tag -- TESTING INCOMPLETE.
STERNS
"Hulkbuster Armor prototypes", eh?
Sitting in storage for nearly two
months seems long enough. I think it's
time for a test run.
INT. WAREHOUSE - MUTATION LAB - LATE NIGHT
The doors slide open and Sterns enters, now with
Caucasian skin and in NORMAL FORM. Sterns walks down
the lab and to a lovely 22-year-old woman with auburn
hair -- MARLO CHANDLER. She's restrained to the
testing table, in a stretchy black bikini and gagged.
Marlo lets out MUFFLED GAGS as she struggles.
STERNS (NORMAL FORM)
Don't struggle, Miss Chandler. You
don't need to be afraid anymore. I'm
not going to experiment on you.
Sterns holds up a syringe, filled with a clear green
serum. He smiles at Marlo.
STERNS (NORMAL FORM)
Well...not the way I was originally.
Marlo lets out MUFFLED MOANS and squirms to get loose,
but can't. Sterns injects the syringe in her arm and
Marlo gives a startled GRUNT. Sterns empties the serum
and removes the syringe. Marlo's MUFFLED GRUNTS stop
and she looks dazed. Marlo shakes her head and again
squirms. Her struggling slows down and stops. Marlo
lets out a MUFFLED MOAN, lowers her head and closes her
eyes. A beat. Sterns smiles.
STERNS (NORMAL FORM)
Miss Chandler?
A beat. Marlo lifts her head up and opens her eyes.
Her pupils are now white.

Can I count on you?

INT. STARK LABS - MAIN LEVEL HALL - AFTERNOON
An elderly SECURITY GUARD, who looks remarkably like
Stan Lee, sits at his table. He is hard at work on a
crossword puzzle in the newspaper. The front doors
open and in walks Marlo, wearing sunglasses and a lab
coat over her clothes. Marlo walks down the hall and
stands at the security table.
MARLO
Excuse me. I'm here to check on a
delivery to the storage center.
The Security Guard looks up at her.
ELDERLY GUARD
May I see your security badge, miss?
Marlo nods. She hands the Guard her ID badge. The
Guard looks at the badge and then at Marlo. The Guard
nods and hands the badge back to her.
GUARD
Sorry about that. You can't be too
careful this day and age. Take the
second elevator down the hall.
Marlo nods and walks off. The Guard picks up his
pencil and resumes his crossword. The word he writes
in next in the puzzle - PERSPICACIOUS - fits right in.
The Guard smiles.
GUARD
Excelsior!
INT. STARK LABS - LOWER LEVEL HALL - AFTERNOON
The elevator doors slide open and Marlo walks out into
a hall. She turns her head and looks left, revealing
what was hidden before -- a green transmitter hidden in
her ear.
STERNS (O. S.)
(on transmitter)
Good. Now walk on down the left side of
the hall and to room one-eighteen.

INT. STARK LABS - STORAGE ROOM - AFTERNOON
The door opens and Marlo walks into the room. She sees
several storage boxes, crates, and other items in the
room. Marlo walks down further into the room and stops
at a large crate. The crate reads STARK INDUSTRIES --
THIS END UP. Marlo smiles.
INT. STARK LABS - STORAGE ROOM - MINUTES LATER
The five, green-armored Hulkbuster (HB) Robots have
already been emptied from the storage crates. They
stand in a row, and four of them have white orbs in
their round chest compartments. Marlo attaches the
last orb into the chest of the last robot. With all
of the orbs in place, Marlo reaches into her pocket
and pulls out a large remote control.
STERNS (O. S.)
(on transmitter)
All right, Miss Chandler. Let's switch
my new toys on, shall we?
Marlo pushes a red button. The orbs light up with
white energy and the eyes and mouth of the HB Robots
glow as they are activated.
STERNS (O. S.)
(on transmitter)
Thank you for your help, Miss Chandler.
Unfortunately, as you have finished
your task, I have no need for your
services any longer.
The transmitter glows and emits an electric jolt that
makes Marlo's head jerk back. Marlo collapses to the
floor, unconscious.
INT. INSTITUTE - MAIN LAB - AFTERNOON
Bruce sits at a table, looking over data on the screen.
An empty bag of food is set on his table, while a beaker filled with green liquid is at the left of the
computer. Bruce looks at the blood cells on the
computer screen and the data listed beside it. The
screen reads SERUM TEST 20062 UNSUCCESSFUL. Bruce
shakes his head sadly. A late-20s man, JERRY ANDREWS,
enters the room and walks over to Bruce's table,
wearing a lab coat over his clothes.

BRUCE
I'm sorry, I can't.
JERRY
You already got plans?
BRUCE
Sort of. I've got some work to finish.
JERRY
You've always got work to finish. In
the two months we've worked together,
I don't think I've seen you take a
night off just to have fun.
BRUCE
I'd like to, Jerry, I'd really do. I
appreciate the offer, but...
A sudden CRASH echoes out into the hall. Bruce and
John turn around. The sounds of SCREAMING echo out
from the hall. Through the window, Bruce and Jerry
notice people running away in horror down the hall.
JERRY
What the --
CRASH!! The door is knocked down and HB Robot 1 enters
the room. Its stomping footsteps makes cracks in the
ground. Bruce gets to his feet and he steps back from
the table, with Jerry quickly following.
JERRY
What is that?
HB Robot 1 takes a few more steps into the room.
Through the window, HB Robots 2 and 3 walk after the
fleeing people.
BRUCE
Whatever it is, it has company.
HB Robots 2 and 3 turn around and look through the
window. All three HB Robots look directly at Bruce.

SMASH! - The hands of HB Robot 4 punches through the
floor and grab Bruce by his ankles. BRUCE GRUNTS and
tries to get loose. Jerry crouches down and tries to
help pulls the Robot's hands off of his ankles.
JERRY
Stop it! Let him go!
Jerry is able to help Bruce get out of the Robot's
grip. HB Robot 1 gets to Jerry and pushes him aside.
Jerry collides onto a table, knocks into a computer and
rolls over the table with it. Jerry hits the ground,
rendered unconscious.
BRUCE
Jerry!!
SMASH!! Robot 4 breaks through from under the floor
and climbs up onto the ground to join the other Robots.
Bruce moves back as HB Robot 2 reaches for him. HB
Robot 1 grabs Bruce by the throat and pulls him close.
Bruce grabs the Robot's wrist with both hands and tries
to pull his hand off, but can't.
HB ROBOT 3'S POV - Bruce continues to struggle, trying
to get loose. He can't. Bruce's eyes glow green. His
hands grip onto the Robot's wrist tighter and he
squeezes. As Bruce's hands grow bigger, his grip of
his fingers starts to dent into the Robot's wrist.
INT. INSTITUTE TOP FLOOR - HALL 1 - AFTERNOON
The hallway is empty. HB Robot 5 walks down the hall
and the last people on the floor run away in the other
direction, SCREAMING. A GROWLING sound becomes audible
down the hall. HB Robot 5 turns to the closed doors of
the main lab.
BAM!! HB Robot 3, now missing his right hand/wrist, is
sent flying backwards THROUGH the shut door and it
collides onto HB Robot 5. Both Robots are sent flying
backwards across the hall and then they hit the ground.

INT. INSTITUTE - MAIN LAB - AFTERNOON
The Hulk now stands in the room, wearing only his torn
purple pants. Hulk rips off what was left of his shirt
and turns around to face HB Robot 4. HB Robot 4 holds
its hand up and fires a green laser beam at his chest.
Hulk stumbles back a few steps, but isn't hurt. The
Robot tries again. Hulk again steps back, but is now
more irritated than hurt. HB Robot 4 steps forward to
fire another beam, but Hulk grabs its arm and ROARS as
he flips the robot over. Hulk SLAMS the Robot into the
ground back-first, making an imprint in the ground.
ANOTHER ANGLE - HB Robot 1 charges at delivers a punch
across Hulk's jaw. Hulk stumbles back and HB Robot 1
delivers another punch to the jaw. Hulk staggers back
and is hit in the back by HB Robot 2's laser beam.
Hulk quickly spins around to face HB Robot 2 and GROWLS
as he grabs it. As HB Robot 1 is about to deliver
another punch, Hulk swats Robot 4 into Robot 1 and the
collision knocks Robot 1 across the room. HB Robot 1
CRASHES through the window and lands in the hall. Hulk
turns around to HB Robot 3, which has gotten to all
fours. HULK ROARS with rage as he quickly SMASHES it
with Robot 4, and sends BOTH Robots CRASHING through
the ground.
ANOTHER ANGLE - Hulk turns around to the doorway to
see that HB Robot 1 is charging right at him. Hulk
charges back at him and leaps to attack, but HB Robot 1
leaps and tackles the Hulk. When he tackles the Hulk,
the bottom of Robot 1's feet glow with blue light and
he HOVERS in the air. HB Robot 1 FLIES with the
tackled Hulk, and sends Hulk SMASHING through the back
wall into --
INT. INSTITUTE TOP LEVEL - HALL 2 - AFTERNOON
HB Robot 1 continues to fly and he pushes Hulk across
the hallway and back-first to the next wall --
EXT. INSTITUTE - FRONT LAWN - CONTINUOUS
SMASH!! HB ROBOT 1 SMASHES HULK THROUGH THE TOP LEVEL
WALL and outside. Civilians below SCREAM and run from
the falling wall debris. Hulk slaps both sides of the
Robot's head with both hands and crushes part of its
skull. Hulk grabs the flying Robot 1, holds it tight in
a bear hug, and PULLS IT DOWN. Hulk and HB Robot 1
quickly gall to the ground and SLAMS Robot 1 back-first
INTO the ground. Hulk himself isn't harmed, but Robot
1 explodes like a pinata.

HB Robots 2 and 3 walk through the hole in the main lab
wall and into the second hallway. HB Robots 4 and 5
follow them into the hall.
EXT. INSTITUTE - FRONT LAWN - CONTINUOUS
Hulk gives an angry GROWL as he kicks the broken body
of HB Robot 1. The SCREAMS of fleeing bystanders makes
the Hulk look up at them. The BYSTANDERS SCREAM as
they see the Hulk look at them and they run away. Hulk
makes a step forward, but two energy beams are fired
from above and two different parts of the ground before
the Hulk EXPLODE when the beams hit. Hulk steps back
from the double explosion angrily and turns around. He
GROWLS as he looks up.
ANGLE ON - THE HOLE IN THE INSTITUTE WALL. HB Robot 2
hovers in the air and flies out of the Institute. The
other Robots fly out and hover in mid-air. HB Robot 2
flies down and both of its hands glow with green
energy.
Robot 2 flies down to the Hulk and aims its hands in
front, aiming for the Hulk.
ROBOT 2
(robotic voice)
Energy beam charging...
Hulk GROWLS and charges ahead, right for the Robot.
ROBOT 2 FIRES at the charging Hulk and the energy beam
is shot at Hulk's chest. Hulk LEAPS ahead before the
beam can hit him, and it strikes a nearby car instead
and pushes the car across the street. Hulk TACKLES the
flying Robot 2 and sends it SMASHING back-first against
the front steps of the Institute. Hulk punches down at
Robot 2 again and again, causing heavy damage to its
head, face-plate and chest. Robot 2 puts its hands on
Hulk's face and, through the hidden holes in its palms,
it emits a thick gas. The HULK COUGHS from the gas and
grabs the Robot's wrists to pull his hands off of his
face, but can't. Hulk nearly tumbles backwards, but
regains his balance and pulls again. Hulk COUGHS from
the gas, and he squeezes Robot 2's wrists. The Robot's
wrists are crushed and HULK GROWLS with rage as he RIPS
OFF HB Robot 2's hands. The gas stops and starts to
disappear, as Hulk throws the broken-off hands aside.
Hulk raises his arms and ROARS as he SMASHES his fists
into HB Robot 2's face, CRUSHING IT IN.

INT. WAREHOUSE - LOWER LEVEL LAB - AFTERNOON
Across the room, Sterns, in green-skinned form, watches
on a large viewing screen on the side wall, where a
control center stand is set several feet before it. He
looks on in disbelief as the screen goes to static.
STERNS
I don't believe it!! That knock-out gas
would have taken down a fully-grown
elephant, and he's still conscious!!
(shakes his head)
Hmph. No matter. I've still got three
Hulkbuster robots left.
Sterns pushes a third button on his control stand and
the screen changes. It is seen through the POV of the
third HB Robot. Hulk has stepped back and away from
the defeated HB Robot 2. Hulk turns around and eyes
the parked cars across the street. He rushes over to a
nearby large crane truck that is parked nearby.
STERNS
What's he doing now?
EXT. INSTITUTE - FRONT LAWN - AFTERNOON
Hulk ROARS as he pounds both fists down into the truck
and SMASHES IT. Hulk rapidly pounds his fists again
and again into the truck and severs the ball and its
attached, extremely-long link of chains with it. The
Hulk grabs the chain and turns around to the Hulk. He
starts to twirl the chain and spins the ball over his
head, spinning it faster and faster...
INT. WAREHOUSE - LOWER LEVEL LAB - AFTERNOON
Sterns stares at the viewing screen in realization.
STERNS
Oh, you've got to be kidding me.
EXT. INSTITUTE - FRONT LAWN - CONTINUOUS
HB Robot 3 starts to fly down and HULK (O. S.) ROARS
as -- SMASH!! The wrecking ball is thrown up, collides
into HB ROBOT 3, and sends it SMASHING backwards
through the Institute wall. HB Robots 4 and 5 turn
around and hover aside as the chain is pulled and the
wrecking ball is pulled out of the wall. HB Robots 4
and 5 turn around and look down at the ground at the

HB Robots 4 and 5 fly down and they go in opposite
directions -- Robot 4 goes left, Robot 5 goes right.
Hulk GROWLS as he spins the ball-and-chain and he
flings it up skyward at Robot 4. Robot 4 barely misses
the ball and grabs the chain. Robot 4's hands grip
onto the chain tightly and the CHAINS SNAP.
ON THE BALL - It falls from the air and lands on the
hood of an abandoned car parked nearby. When it lands,
the hood is SMASHED IN under the ball's weight and it
BREAKS DOWN through the car.
The Hulk GROWLS and turns to face HB Robot 5. It holds
up its left fist and fires a dart at the Hulk's neck.
The needle of the dart BREAKS as it hits his skin and
Hulk grits his teeth angrily. HB Robot 5 fires an
energy beam onto his back from behind and Hulk is
pushed forward a few steps. HB Robot 4 fires an energy
beam, and it hits Hulk's chest and it pushes him
backwards. HB Robot 5 fires another beam that hits
Hulk behind his ankle, and Hulk trips and falls to the
floor. HB Robot 4 flies down, crouches before the Hulk
and grabs him by the throat with one hand. HB Robot 4
punches the Hulk across the jaw. And then again. And
again. HB Robot 5 hovers down and watches as Robot 4
starts pounding into the Hulk's face. Robot 4 punches
again -- and his fist is caught by Hulk's left hand.
HULK GROWLS angrily and his green eyes glow a bit
brighter as his right hand grabs Robot 4 by the throat.
Hulk squeezes Robot 4's neck tighter...tighter...
HB Robot 5 lets loose another energy beam at the Hulk.
Hulk quickly turns, lifts Robot 4 up to the beam's path
and the beam hits Robot 4's face. BOOM!! Robot 4 is
decapitated and its face is crushed in by the beam.
Hulk gets up, throws Robot 4's body away and GROWLS at
HB Robot 5, as it hovers in the air. It starts to soar
up higher from the Hulk.
STERNS (O. S.)
(on headset)
Disengage battle. Return to base.
Robot 5 turns and starts to fly away. Hulk GRUNTS with
anger and runs after it. Hulk runs faster and faster,
as Robot 5 soars higher and higher. Hulk GROWLS and he
leaps up after the robot. Robot 5 has gotten pretty
high off the ground, but Hulk catches it by the ankle.

the waist. Hulk pulls at HB Robot 5 and it is pulled
down a bit. Hulk pulls again and grabs Robot 5 by its
chest with one hand. With the other, Hulk grabs Robot
5's neck. Hulk turns Robot 5 around and they fall to
the ground, faster and faster. When they get close
enough to the ground, the Hulk delivers a massive PILE-
DRIVER that SMASHES Robot 5 INTO the ground. The
impact makes the Robot's limbs crack, its left hand
breaks off, its chest breaks open, among other damage.
INT. INSTITUTE TOP LEVEL - HALL 2 - AFTERNOON
Jerry walks to the hole in the wall made by Hulk's
ball-and-chain hit. What WAS Robot 3 lies on the
ground in several large pieces. Jerry looks out of the
hole in the wall and looks down in shock.
EXT. INSTITUTE - FRONT LAWN - CONTINUOUS
Hulk STOMPS its foot on Robot 5's severed head, BREAKS
the head completely, and Hulk gives out a long, ANGRY
ROAR. HULK'S ROAR ENDS and he looks around for other
opponents, breathing hard. Hulk sees no one else. He
turns around and looks at the city ahead. He lets out
a low GROWL and runs for the city.
INT. INSTITUTE TOP LEVEL - HALL 2 - CONTINUOUS
Jerry stares at the Hulk through the hole in the wall.
The Hulk gets into a running leap and lands on the
ground a few dozen feet ahead. The Hulk runs off,
getting faster and faster. Hulk leaps again and SOARS
through the air, leaping towards the city.
INT. WAREHOUSE - LOWER LEVEL LAB - AFTERNOON
The screen has gone to static. Sterns is livid.
STERNS

considered.
Sterns walks across the room to his desk. He sits on
his chair, clicks his mouse on the RESTORE icon of his
computer screen, and pulls up the Hulkbuster File.
STERNS
With the right adjustments, I see true
potential for these Hulkbusters.
Sterns clicks the red x CLOSE icon and the screen reads
DO YOU WISH TO SAVE CHANGES MADE TO THIS FILE? Sterns
clicks on YES with the mouse. The file is closed.
STERNS (CONT'D)
For now, I'll need to turn my attention
back with my own experiments. Robots are
one thing to pit against the Hulk. But a
gamma mutant will be a far more effective
substitute...and more interesting.
EXT. GAMMA BASE - AFTERNOON
A military helicopter lands on the ground, near a new,
wide, three-stories-tall military base.

That it's none of their d*mn business.
ROSS
That's a good answer, Major. I was told

They stop and stand at an elevator. Kat pushes the

KAT
Yes, sir. We got a report from Dr.
Jerry Harding at the new Stark Labs
building in Vancouver. Someone managed
to get in, unload the HB Robots and
activated them.
ROSS
Do you mean to tell me someone actually
managed to locate and switch on the
Hulkbuster prototypes? What about
security?
The elevator doors slide open.
KAT
Apparently a woman was authorized to go
down into the storage room by one of
the Guards. She was found unconscious
by the opened Hulkbuster containment
crates.
Ross and Kat step into the elevator.

Marlo Chandler. She's been identified

missing two days ago at Empire State
University.
ROSS
Wonder what a college student is doing
sneaking into a heavily-guarded lab
and unloading government property that's
supposed to be secretly stored inside.
KAT
We're looking into that, sir.
ROSS
What about the Hulkbusters? Where are
they now?
KAT
Which parts, sir? We got a report from
Mr. Jonathan Byrne at the Wieringo
Memorial Institute. He's one of several
eye-witnesses swear to have seen a nine-
foot-tall monster with green skin fight
off and destroy the HB prototypes.
ROSS

INT. GAMMA BASE - LOWER LEVEL HALL - AFTERNOON
The elevator doors slide open and Ross and Kat step out
into the hall.

When he's the Hulk, he can be hopping

Now what about the other target?
KAT
There's still no sign of Dr. Sterns
since his disappearance, sir. We've
checked the perimeter, but we still
haven't had any luck. He's gotten as
good as hiding from us as Banner.
ROSS
But unlike Banner, he's been leaving
his handiwork in the paper.
Ross takes the newspaper out from under his arm and
hands it to Kat. She looks at the headline.
KAT
Two more people missing in Jersey?
ROSS
The missing people he's been taking are
all from different areas of the country.
First it was Brooklyn, and then it was
Manhattan, D.C., Newark, Charleston,
Fairfax County...He's been going into
different cities in different states to
keep us from finding his main base of
operations, and we still haven't gotten
a clue as to what he wants them for or
where he's going to strike next.
Ross and Kat stop walking as a blond early 30s woman, CAPTAIN CARLA FERRIGNO, walks over to them. She holds
a headset in her hands.
FERRIGNO
Sir!
ROSS
What is it, Captain?
FERRIGNO

Betty, now wearing jeans and a jacket over her tank

Betty turns around and looks at the muscular, mid-30s

Samson watches Betty walk in and he SIGHS.
INT. STANLEY'S PIZZA PARLOR - AFTERNOON
The place is packed with hungry customers. Betty sits
at a table for two, with a laptop set on her table and
a book sticks out from the open zipper of her purse. A
full glass of Coca-Cola is set in front of her. Betty
keeps her eyes on the data on her laptop, looking sad.
A familiar old man, STANLEY, walks to her table, with a
tray in his hands. On the tray is an extra large
pepperoni-and-extra-chees e pizza. Stanley sets the
tray down on the table and smiles at Betty.
STANLEY

Betty keeps her eyes on the data. Stanley looks at her

STANLEY
Still nothing, huh?
Betty looks up at Stanley. She shakes her head.
BETTY
I don't know if I'm ever going to find

Stanley gives her a sad smile. Stanley sits on the
empty chair before her.
STANLEY
You'll figure it out eventually, Betty.
I've known you kids for a long time and

Now, I've got my work to do, and you'll

Stanley nods and walks off back to the counter. Betty
reaches for an extra large slice, takes a bite out of

A beat. Betty takes another bite out of her pizza
slice and then she sets it down on her plate.
SAMSON
Betty?
Betty looks up and at Samson. She starts to get up to
leave, but he takes a step back and she stops.
SAMSON

BETTY
You've already done enough, Leonard. I
believe I told you that just before I

you'll want to see this.
Betty looks at Samson and SIGHS. She stands up and
walks with Samson to the counter. Stanley walks away
from a customer to get the young lady's pizza, but he
stops as he sees Betty and Samson approach him.
SAMSON
Stanley, could you put the TV on the
news, please?
STANLEY
Yeah, just a second.
Stanley walks over and changes the channel on the TV.
A photo appears on the TV set of the broken Robots.
REPORTER (O. S.)
And these images had been sent in to us
just ten minutes ago by email.
ON THE TV - A mid-30s, mustached REPORTER sits behind
the desk. The headline at the bottom of the screen
reads GREEN MONSTER TRASHES INSTITUTE.
REPORTER (CONT'D)
Nearly an hour ago, five highly-advanced
robots broke into the Wieringo Memorial
Institute and were shortly after
confronted by a green-skinned monster.
The Robots fought with the hulking
creature for several minutes, but as you
can see, all of the robots were
completely destroyed.
Samson looks at Betty, as she stares at the unseen
TV. Camera SLOWLY ZOOMS IN and CLOSES UP on Betty.
She stares at the screen in shock.

INT. INSTITUTE - MAIN LAB - AFTERNOON
GENERAL JOE GRELLER stands in the main lab and Jerry is
sitting on a chair, holding an ice pack on his
forehead. Greller looks at Jerry, as several SOLDIERS
look around the area.
GRELLER
And this man you worked with, Roberts,
where is he now?
JERRY
I told you. I told the police. I told
everyone. I don't know where Neal is
now. Before I was knocked out, one of
them grabbed him.
GRELLER
Did they grab you?
JERRY
No, I told you. One of them threw me
away and knocked me out.
GRELLER
Don't you think it's a little strange
they only wanted this Roberts guy and
not you?
JERRY
I'd say it's even stranger to have five
Iron Man wannabes smash through our main
lab and fight with a green monster. Now
are we done? I've got such a headache.
A beat. Greller SIGHS.
GRELLER
Yeah...We're done here.

him about his new employee. See if
you can dig up the address of a Neal
Roberts.
SOLDIER 1
Yes, sir.
The Soldier walks off and out of the open doorway.
EXT. FOUR-LANED ROAD - SUNSET
There are cars backed up in traffic for miles. It
looks like a driver's worst nightmare. They are
unaware of the Hulk, in mid-leap, soaring through the
air. He starts to go down and he LANDS on a nearby
rooftop. The Hulk runs off, jumps over onto the next
building's rooftop, runs faster, and gets into a
running leap. The leap sends the Hulk soaring up
higher, farther, over the city.
ANOTHER ANGLE - People on the ground stop as they
notice the Hulk leaping through the air. Some women
SCREAM with fear at the sight of the Hulk. Hulk lands
on a nearby rooftop, runs ahead, and again leaps up
through the air. Camera SCROLLS ON, away from the
people, and stops at a nearby road sign. It reads
VIRGINA - 80 MILES.
INT. SAMSON'S OFFICE - NIGHT
Samson sits on a chair, writing on his notepad. A mid-
40s, slightly overweight woman, WENDY, lies on the
green couch of his office.
SAMSON
Go on. I'm listening.
WENDY
And so when I was ten, my father was
finally able to take me to the circus.
It had always been a dream come true for
me. I mean, I'd always wanted to go.

seen drawings of them and thought that
they were funny, but to see a real one
in person just made me lose all control.
Samson nods and he writes down notes on his notepad.
A distant THUD becomes audible and makes him stop
writing. Samson turns and looks out of his window. He
sees nothing.

The rest of the conversation fades away. Her talking
is indistinct, as Samson walks to the window and looks
outside. He looks on in shock.
SAMSON'S POV - The Hulk is on a rooftop, running by and
leaping onto the next rooftop. He slows down and leaps
down into an alley.
ON SAMSON - He stares out of the window, stunned.
WENDY
Doctor?...Doctor Samson?
Leonard rapidly blinks, snapped out of it. He turns
around to see Wendy sit up and she looks at him.
WENDY
I said, what do you think?
A beat. Samson looks back out of the window.
SAMSON
I'm sorry, Wendy. I have to cut our
session short tonight...Something has
just come up.
Samson pulls the string and his shutters go down over
the window.

EXT. CABIN - NIGHT
Greller stands on the front porch, holding his cell
phone to his ear. The door is wide open, and through
the doorway and windows we see several Soldiers inside,
going through Bruce's few belongings.
GRELLER
You were right, Ross. Banner didn't
head back here.
INT. ROSS'S VAN - NIGHT
Ross is driving down a road in a local neighborhood,
and he stops at a traffic light as it goes red.
ROSS
Keep looking. Banner doesn't usually
get sloppy or leave any clues, but he
does make mistakes.
EXT. CABIN - NIGHT
Greller nods as he turns around and looks into the
cabin. He sees a Soldier look through the drawers of
the desk and finds nothing.
GRELLER
We'll let you know when we find
something, General. I'll report back
to you in an hour.
INT. ROSS'S VAN
The traffic light turns green and Ross drives off down
the road.
ROSS
Understood, General. Over and out.
Ross hangs up the phone.
EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT
Samson walks away from the psychology building, across
the street, and to the alley. Samson looks left, and
then right. Nothing. He sees only a dumpster ahead.
SAMSON
Hello?

SAMSON
Hello?
A beat. No answer. Samson walks further into the
alley, one step at a time. He looks left. Nothing.
Samson looks right. Just a black cat on the lid of a
trash can. Samson looks ahead and steps forward. A
soft GRUNT catches his attention. Samson walks down
the alley slowly, turns left and looks at the second
dumpster. Sitting beside it is the Hulk, head down,
arms forward and his hands down by his lap. He looks
tired, calming down. The green shine in his eyes has
dimmed down.
SAMSON
My God.
The Hulk lifts his head up slowly and looks at Samson.
He lets out a low GROWL and the green in his eyes
brightens a bit. Samson puts his hands up in the
"stop" motion and steps back.
SAMSON
It's okay. It's okay. I'm not here
to hurt you. I'm a friend. Okay?
Do you understand?
(beat)
A friend.
Hulk just looks at him. The shine in his eyes dims
again. Samson takes a step forward.
SAMSON
It's all right. There's no need to get
upset. I'm not here to hurt you. I
just want to help you.
Hulk looks tired, but a bit stunned by this.
HULK
Help...Hulk?

You talk.

Samson steps forward and approaches the Hulk slowly.
SAMSON
Listen. I'm just going to sit with you.
Okay? We can just calm down and sit
right here together...as friends.
Hulk looks at Samson a moment. He frowns.
HULK
Hulk has no friends...Hulk has only
Betty...
Hulk leans his head back. He closes his eyes,
looking tired. The Hulk's skin starts to get lighter
in color as the green fades from his eyes.
HULK
Betty...
Samson frowns. The Hulk's eyes have turned to blue.
The HULK GROANS and Samson quickly moves back from him,
startled. Hulk GRUNTS as he slowly shrinks down. His
skin continues to get lighter in color, and his muscles
and height shrink down in size like the air being
slowly let out of a balloon. His bones give sick
POPPING sounds and his muscles go taut as they shrink.
HULK'S VOICE CHANGES as his GRUNTS continue. His hair
changes from black to brown and his skin again becomes
Caucasian. Hulk collapses to all fours and MOANS as he
reverts fully back to BRUCE again.
Samson just stares, stunned by what he's seen.
Bruce lowers his head, his eyes shut tighter. He
GRUNTS with pain, soaked with sweat, and he COUGHS.
He is out of breath, clearly in pain and tired. Tears
drip down from Bruce's eyes.
Samson removes his jacket and he drapes it over Bruce.
Bruce sits up and clutches onto Samson's jacket. He
shivers from the cold and flinches. He looks at Samson
as he crouches before him.
BRUCE
(groggily)
You?
(a beat)
Where am I?
SAMSON
You're coming with me.

INT. BETTY'S HOME - STUDY - NIGHT
Betty is jogging on an treadmill, a bit sweaty and
wearing workout clothes. She looks down at the workout
SETTING and CALORIES BURNED screens on her treadmill.
A loud KNOCKING rings out from her front door. Betty
notices the sounds and pushes the stop button of her

BETTY
I wonder why.
ROSS
You have every right to hate me.
BETTY
To put it kindly.
Betty is about to close the door, but Ross puts his
hand up and stops it before it can slam on him. Betty
looks at him sternly.
BETTY

BETTY
What are you trying to do?
ROSS
I'm trying to spend some time with my
daughter.
BETTY
You could've fooled me --
ROSS

I'm not forcing you to have dinner with
me, Betty, and I already know you'd like
nothing more to do with me after all
that's happened between us. I'm not
trying to make you do anything you don't
want to. But I'd like to have dinner
with you tomorrow night, just the two of
us. No data, no questioning...Just you
and me.
(a beat)
I think we could both use some company
right about now. Just think about it.
A beat. Betty eyes him sternly.
BETTY
I'll sleep on it. I'll call you back
tomorrow with an answer, okay?
ROSS
(nods)
Fair enough. Good night, Betty.
BETTY
Good night.
Ross turns and walks away to his parked van. Betty

Betty walks to the table and eyes the number on the

holds it to her ear.
SAMSON (O. S.)

Betty, please don't hang up again.
BETTY
What do you want now? I already gave

Betty, I know what I did was wrong and
I'm sorry. But I've got a chance to
make it up to you.
BETTY
Wait, wait, slow down. I can barely
hear you. Are you whispering?
INT. SAMSON'S HOME - BEDROOM - NIGHT
Samson is seated on a chair near his bed. Bruce is on
the bed, asleep, and wearing a T-shirt.
SAMSON
(speaking softly)
Betty, I'll explain all of this to you
in person. But you have to come over

INT. WAREHOUSE - LOWER LEVEL LAB - NIGHT
Sterns sits at his desk, wearing his headset that is
hooked into his computer.
STERNS
Well, I have just come back from my
latest test with my latest subject, the
late Brittany Jennings. For my latest
test, I injected her with a new serum to
try and control her metamorphosis into a
gamma mutant. But I'm afraid the late
Miss Jennings didn't react to the serum
as I had intended. She had split in
half, right down the middle, and then
burst open like a bomb detonated in a
piqata. It was yet another failure and
another fine mess to clean up. I must
find out where my old friend Mr. Green
has gone to now and bring him here.
Sterns stops as he looks at his computer. The screen
reads MATCH FOUND. Sterns types on his keyboard and
clicks on a window screen with his mouse. Sterns
clicks the RESTORE option and the screen shows an
article about the bookstore incident. The screen reads
GREEN MONSTER SIGHTED IN PENNSYLVANIA. Sterns smiles.
STERNS
Of course...Of course!
Sterns hits the record button on his control keyboard.
STERNS
I must make the necessary preparations
to my latest, greatest invention! I
know where Banner is going!
INT. SAMSON'S HOME - MAIN HALL - NIGHT
There is a knock on the front door. Samson walks to
the door, he unlocks it and then he opens it. He steps
aside and Betty walks in. She's now wearing a T-shirt
and jeans.

SAMSON

They're gone. You can come back out
now.
Betty turns to the doorway as she hears footsteps and
Bruce steps out.
BRUCE
Was it a delivery --
He stops and stays still. Betty stares at Bruce a
moment in shock. Bruce looks at Samson sternly.
SAMSON
I called her when you were asleep. I
knew you wouldn't have let me if you --

kitchen to leave. Betty quickly chases after him.
BETTY

Bruce has gotten to the back door. He unlocks it and
opens it as Betty gets in the room.
BETTY

ANGLE ON - BRUCE, again seen from behind. He lifts his
head up, but doesn't look at her. A beat. Bruce looks
over his shoulder and opens his eyes, looking at her.
Betty steps into the kitchen, walking past the wide
refrigerator. She stands before Bruce and he looks at
her. Betty reaches her hand up to him. He steps back
and she stops. Bruce stays still. A beat. Betty
lifts her hand back up and sets it on Bruce's shoulder.
She blinks and tears roll down her face.
BETTY
(whispers)
Bruce...
Tears well up in Bruce's own eyes. He steps back. She
keeps her hand on his shoulder. A beat. Bruce
trembles for a moment. The h*ll with it. He wraps his
arms around her and they hug. Bruce closes his eyes
and tears roll down his face as he hears Betty SOBBING.
ANGLE ON - THE DOORWAY. Samson looks in, watching the
unseen couple. He lets out a sad smile and he listens
as BETTY (O. S.) CONTINUES SOBBING.
INT. GAMMA BASE - WAR ROOM - NIGHT
Ross walks into the large room. Monitors and screens
of various sizes are on the walls around the room. A
round table occupies the center of the room. Kat,
Ferrigno, the thin, mid-40s GENERAL BEN TURNER and the
lean-muscled, mid-30s LIEUTENANT MIKE DAVID sit on
chairs around the table. Ross sits on a vacant chair
between Ferrigno and David.
KAT
Thank you for coming back, sir.
ROSS
Your call said it was urgent, Major.
What's the latest update from Canada?
KAT
General Greller wasn't able to get

Kat hands Ross a folder from the desk. He opens it and

ROSS
What is this?
KAT
Our new orders. You're no longer in
charge of this mission, sir.
ROSS
Under who's authority?
GABRIEL (O. S.)
Ours.
Ross turns around and notices as a mid-40s, African-
American man in a soldier's uniform, GABRIEL JONES,
enters the room. He smirks at Ross.
GABRIEL
It's been a long time, hasn't it, Tad?
ROSS
What are you doing here?
GABRIEL
I've been placed in charge of this new
mission. Your last pursuits have caused
too much destruction and too many
hospital visits for our troops than we'd
like to count or recall. We're going to
handle things our way.
ROSS
And whose way is that, Gabriel? Did
Fury put you up to this?
GABRIEL
Fury and I have a mutual understanding
of the situation, General. And we've
also got some new information about
the Chandler girl. Some of our men
interrogated her about the incident,
but she claims that she has no memory
of the last forty-eight hours. The
doctors found traces of some unknown
formula in her blood test. Whatever
Sterns had her on, it's unlike anything
we've seen before. We also confiscated
some kind of radio transmitter in her
ear. It was fried by an electric jolt.

ROSS
So do you have any idea on where
Sterns has been hiding out?
GABRIEL
Not yet. But we did manage to catch
something else.
Gabriel reaches into his pocket and pulls out a DVD.
He walks to a monitor, inserts the disc in the slot,
and pushes the play button.
GABRIEL
This security camera footage was
taken earlier tonight, downtown.
The monitor shows footage of cars stuck in traffic.
Gabriel points at the rooftop of a nearby building.
GABRIEL
See anything familiar here, General?
Ross and the others keep their eyes on the monitor.
The Hulk appears on the screen, in mid-leap, and he
lands on the rooftop. Hulk runs along the rooftop and
leaps away to another building. Ross narrows his eyes.
INT. SAMSON'S HOME - BEDROOM - NIGHT
Bruce sits at the table with Betty. A plate is set on
the table before Bruce, with the crumbs of bread and
chips all that's left on the plate. Betty takes a sip
from her glass of milk.
BRUCE
How have you been?
BETTY
I've been good. I've been exercising,
taking self-defense classes. You know.
Just in case. I've also been working on
our research. I haven't gotten very far,
though.
BRUCE
Neither have I.
Betty eyes Bruce in concern.
BETTY
If you don't mind me asking...Where have
you been? Are you okay?

A beat. Bruce looks glum by this. He nods.
BRUCE
I'm all right...considering. I've been

While I've been continuing our research,
I've spent the last few months trying to
control my metamorphosis...to stop it.
I used yoga, meditation, continued to
keep my heartbeat steady, keep my temper
in check... I went sixty-five days
without changing.
BETTY
That's very good.
BRUCE
But not good enough. The last few times
I tried...I almost didn't hold it back.
I nearly lost control. It kept getting
harder every time I've tried since. But
last time I was able to keep it back.
BETTY
What made it work?
BRUCE
(smiles)
You did. My teacher said to concentrate
on something to keep me calm, to keep my
temper in check...I thought of you.
Betty smiles. She reaches for Bruce's hand and he
pulls it back. A beat. Betty reaches out again, puts
her hand over Bruce's own hand and they hold hands.
She smiles at Bruce. There is a double KNOCK on the
door. Betty and Bruce turn to the door as it opens,
and Samson enters with a clothing store bag.
SAMSON
Am I interrupting?
BETTY
It's okay. What did you get?
SAMSON
I know Bruce needed some new clothes, so
I picked up a few things. Let me know
what you think.
BRUCE
All right.

Samson sets down the clothing bag on the bed. Bruce
and Betty walk over and they sit down on the bed.
Samson opens the bag, pulls out the clothes and lies
them down on the bed. There are two blue T-shirts, two
gray T-shirts, a blue long-sleeved overshirt, and four
pairs of pants - two are blue, two are black.
SAMSON
They didn't have purple. It's not
exactly the easiest color to find for
pants.
BETTY
Well, if he changes again, they will be.
Bruce picks up one of the pants and tugs on it with
both hands, pulling it to the sides to test it. The
pants stretch out when pulled to the sides. Bruce
looks up at Samson.
SAMSON
I figured you'd want to have some
stretchy pants. You know. When you
grow into them.
Bruce nods and looks over the clothes.
BRUCE
Hopefully I won't being doing any
growing anytime soon.
SAMSON
You'll be needing this, too.
Bruce looks up, as Samson pulls his wallet out of his
pocket. He unfolds it, picks out seven twenty-dollar
bills, and hands them over to Bruce.
SAMSON (CONT'D)
If you want to pick up a bus ticket
tomorrow, you can.
BRUCE
Why are you doing this for me?
SAMSON
Because I'm learning from my mistakes.
You lost your chance to leave last time
because of me. I'm not going to let
that happen again.
A beat. Bruce nods at Samson.

green friend made the news all day with
his journey from one state to the next
to get here, it'd be best not to step
outside till morning.
BRUCE
Good idea.
Bruce notices a nightgown in the stack of clothes.
Bruce and Betty glance at one another and then at
Samson.
SAMSON
What? I knew Betty would want to stay
over here too.
Upon seeing Betty's smile, Bruce looks nervous.
BRUCE
No. She can't.
SAMSON
Why not?
BRUCE
It's not safe. She should be at home.
BETTY
No one knows I'm here with you.
BRUCE
If anything happens, I don't want you

BETTY

What about what I want, Bruce? It's

INT. SAMSON'S HOME - BASEMENT - LATE NIGHT
The basement is fairly large, and several bookshelves
filled with books occupy the room. In a corner of the
room are two separate beds. Bruce lies on the bed to

Bruce looks at Betty and notices her eyes are closed.
He stares at her a moment.

Bruce smirks. Betty opens her eyes and looks at Bruce.
He shakes his head.

It's okay. It's okay, it's just me.
Bruce SIGHS and calms down. She puts her hand on his
shoulder. Bruce looks to his right. The bedside clock
reads 7:55.
BETTY
Shall we go?
Bruce looks up at her. A beat. He nods and pulls his
blanket off of his body.
EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - MORNING
Ferrigno sits at the wheel of a jeep and drives by an
old neighborhood. Four armed Soldiers sit in the back,
while Kat sits in the front passenger seat. Ross slows
down and stops at a stop light. Ferrigno pushes a
button on her headset.
FERRIGNO
We've checked the eastern side. There's
still no sign of Banner.

EXT. ALLEY - DAY
Greller is in the alley, with several Soldiers around
the area. Greller notices an imprint of the Hulk's
massive footprints on the ground near a dumpster. He
pushes a button on his headset.
GRELLER
Well, we've found some footprints left
in an alleyway. Wherever Banner is,
it seems he's changed back to normal.
INT. ARMY VAN - DAY
Ross drives down the road, wearing a headset. Two Army
jeeps are visible behind his van and are following him.
SOLDIERS 1, 2 and 3 sit in the back of the van, while
SOLDIER 4 sits in the front passenger seat.
ROSS
I'm checking back with Betty at Culver
University. If Banner is dumb enough to
try and make contact with her again,
we'll be there to get him.
EXT. CULVER UNIVERSITY - DAY
Ross's van slows down and parks in front of the main
building at Culver University. Ross and his Soldiers
unbuckle their seatbelts, open their doors and step out
of the jeep. Ross walks over and notices the cars in
the parking lot. One space is vacant. A sign is set
before the space and reads RESERVED FOR DR. BETTY ROSS.
Ross stops walking and taps the button of his headset.
ROSS
All units, be advised. My daughter is
not on campus. What do you have to
report, Jones?
EXT. BETTY'S HOME - DAY
Gabriel stands in front of Betty's house, wearing his
own headset. A few Soldiers are with him.
GABRIEL
We're at Dr. Ross's house now, General.
Her car's not here.
ROSS (O. S.)

Then she must be with him already.

van and they buckle up as well.
ROSS
Gamma Base, I want you to get a lock
on her phone and trace its signal. I
want to know her current location and
have my daughter picked up, A.S.A.P.
And make sure you've got something to
protect yourselves with if Banner's
other half rears its ugly head again.
INT. STERNS'S VAN - DAY - CONTINUOUS
Sterns, in normal form, sits behind the wheel of his
van. He is stopped at a traffic light and already has
a headset on his head.
GABRIEL (O. S.)

We know what we're doing, General. If
you find Banner first, don't make a move
until we get there. That's an order.
ROSS (O. S.)
(on headset)
Copy that. Ross out.
Sterns smiles and removes his headset.
STERNS (NORMAL FORM)
Wait for me.
The light turns green. Sterns smiles and drives off.
INT. GAMMA BASE - CONTROL ROOM - CONTINUOUS
An OLD SOLDIER, seated at a control console, looks at
his screen. It reads SIGNAL FOUND.
OLD SOLDIER
General, we've got a lock on her phone's
signal. It's at the home of Dr. Leonard
Samson.
GABRIEL (O. S.)

into the room. SOLDIER 5 leads the way, his
tranquilizer gun aimed ahead.
SOLDIER 5
Follow my lead!
EXT. SAMSON'S HOME - DAY - CONTINUOUS
Several more Soldiers notice a man at Betty's parked
car, with the front hood open. The man is working on
the car, his head down and his face hidden. The small
Army of Soldiers crowd around him and they aim their
tranquilizer guns at the man.
SOLDIER 6
Freeze!!
SOLDIER 7
Stop or we'll shoot!!
The man holds up his hands and backs away from the
car. It's Samson.
SAMSON
For what? Fixing the brakes on this
hunk of junk?
SOLDIER 8
Where's Dr. Ross?
EXT. ROAD - DAY
A red Camry drives down a stretch of road among the
other passing cars. Betty is at the wheel and Bruce
sits beside her.
BETTY
How much farther do you want to go?
BRUCE
Turn at the next exit. When we get to
the next bus stop, I want to make sure
it's far enough away to make sure that

wanted to help you. Leonard even let us
use his car.
(a beat)
Let me go with you this time. I can
help you.
BRUCE
I couldn't ask you to do that.
BETTY
I wouldn't mind. We could get back to
work on our research, to keep searching

BRUCE
I'm sorry, Betty. But this is something
I have to do by myself.
BETTY
Do you?
A beat. Bruce looks at Betty. She eyes him in
concern. Bruce turns his head and looks back at the
road. The cars start moving ahead.
BRUCE
It's clearing up.
Betty looks back at the road. She SIGHS and drives
off down the road, heading for the exit road.
ROSS (O. S.)
Where did they go?
INT. SAMSON'S HOME - KITCHEN - DAY
Samson is sitting on his chair in the dining room.
Ross and several other Soldiers stand before him.
SAMSON
I told you, only Betty left here. She
said she was having trouble with her
brakes, so I gave her my car to use so
she could go to work.
ROSS
You know, you told me the last time we
met you could tell when someone was
lying, and kid, let me tell you, you
must be about the worst d**n liar I've
ever met. Her cell phone is here. Her
credit cars are here, but her purse and
cash are with her. Now which way was
she heading?

We already found them, General.
ROSS
Say that again?
INT. VAN - DAY
Gabriel is in the back of a van, with a Soldier at
the wheel. Gabriel sits at a table and looks at the
video camera footage on his laptop.
GABRIEL
We got some footage from a security
camera at a traffic light. Betty's
driving Banner to the Harnell Bus

INT. SAMSON'S HOME - KITCHEN - DAY - CONTINUOUS
Ross looks at Samson and smirks.
ROSS

Sterns, in normal form, listens in on his headset. He
smiles as he drives off down an exit road.
ROSS (O. S.)
(on headset)
Just make sure that they don't get

Sterns smiles as he drives off down the road. He
pushes a button and turns off the headset.

at Betty as she walks towards him.
BETTY
Hey.
BRUCE
Hey. What time does the bus come?
BETTY
Nine forty-five. It was the earliest
bus they had.
BRUCE
It'll have to do. Do you have my
ticket?
BETTY
Yeah, it's right here.
Bruce notices the ticket in Betty's purse. He looks at
the purse a moment. He reaches into the unzipped
purse.
BETTY
Bruce, wait --
Bruce pulls out the ticket, and discovers a second bus
ticket inside. He looks up at Betty.
BRUCE
Take it back.

want to lose you again. You'll need
someone to help you with your search for
a cure eventually. Who else knows you
better than I do?
A beat. Betty holds Bruce's hand.
BETTY
Bruce, please. Give me the chance to

Bruce looks up at Betty. He pauses. Bruce looks over
her shoulder.
BETTY
Bruce?
Betty turns around and sees an Army jeep in the
distance, headed for the bus stop.
BRUCE
They found me.
BETTY
Come on. Let's go.

over to the large Lieber Public Library. Bruce and
Betty continue running, moving past a small crowd of

Bruce and Betty run down the large front lawn and to

She puts her hands on his face. Bruce is trying to

BETTY
(softly)
That's it. It's okay. You're okay.
Just relax. Take it easy. I'm here.

BETTY
It's okay. I've got you.
STERNS (NORMAL FORM)
And I've got you.
Betty gives a startled GASP as she's hit from behind.
BRUCE
Betty!
She reaches behind her neck, pulls something out of her
neck, and holds it up before her. It's a tranquilizer
dart. Betty and Bruce turn around to see Sterns, in
normal form, standing behind them. They eye him in
shock.
BETTY
Dr. Sterns?
STERNS
Nice to see you again, Dr. Ross. I've
been looking forward to our next

His eyes dimly glow green and he looks at Betty. She
falls to all fours, groggy. Bruce crouches and reaches
his hand out to her. He doesn't see Sterns stab a
syringe filled with green fluid into his arm.
BRUCE
(groggily)
Betty...I'm sorry...
Betty collapses and hits the floor, unconscious. The
green fades away from Bruce's eyes and Sterns pulls out
the empty syringe. His skin changes back to green and
his cranium reverts back to that of an oversized brain.
STERNS
Surprised to see me again?
Sterns holds up his left hand, palm out, and Bruce is
PUSHED BACK by an invisible blast of telekinesis. He
hits the wall, back-first, and collapses to the ground.
Bruce closes his eyes and passes out.

The doors to the room are closed. No one is present in
the room. A beat. The doors are KICKED OPEN and
several Soldiers enter the room, holding tranquilizer
guns. They split up and look around the room.
ON THE CORNER - where Bruce and Betty were previously.
There is no one there now. One Soldier looks over at
the corner. He notices one of Sterns' tranquilizer
darts lying on the floor. Soldier 1 taps the button of
his headset.
SOLDIER 1
General Ross, we have a situation here,

INT. WAREHOUSE - MUTATION LAB - DAY
Betty is on a new experiment chair, with her wrists and
ankles chained down. She's wearing a baggy purple
bikini and Sterns stands to her side. He has already
placed electrodes to Betty's forearms, chest and heart,
and he's attaching two more to her forehead. Betty
stirs and tries to move, but can't. She groggily opens
her eyes, looks at herself, and tries to get loose from
her restraints. She doesn't notice Sterns. He smiles
as he watches Betty.
STERNS
That won't help you.
Betty turns to Sterns and GASPS as she notices his true
green-skinned form.
BETTY
Sterns? What happened to you?
STERNS
An accident...A wonderful twist of
fate. I had the good fortune of being
exposed to some of Dr. Banner's gamma-
mutated blood, and it's made me into
the super-genius I am today. My own
intellect has become so high that it
makes MENSA members look like high
school students by comparison. I've
also been granted telekinesis and
short-range teleportation by thought
as a result of the exposure.
Betty looks at her restraints and then back at Sterns.
BETTY
What are you going to do?
STERNS
You like a good experiment, don't you,
Dr. Ross? I've got a new serum I need to
test out for my research, and you're the
perfect candidate to test it out for me.
Betty eyes Sterns fearfully and she again struggles to
get loose, but can't. She stops and looks across the
room. She sees a second mutation chair, which is
vacant. Betty looks back at Sterns nervously.

INT. WAREHOUSE - LOWER LEVEL LAB - DAY
Bruce is seated in a large metal chair, unconscious.
His shirt is removed and he's wearing only stretchy
purple pants. He has electrodes on his forehead,
forearms, chest and heart. Two sets of chains fastened
to Bruce's wrists and ankles. The first fits his size,
while the second restraints are four times as big. He
stirs and groggily tries to move, but can't. Bruce
opens his eyes and notices his restraints. He
struggles against his bonds, but can't move. Sterns is
standing to his left.
STERNS
Why does everyone I chain to my chair
think they can get loose?
Bruce looks over at Sterns, stunned.
STERNS
I bet you didn't think you'd see me
again, did you? I've had to keep a
low profile since I was exposed to your
blood sample. Fortunately, I've been
able to disguise my appearance with a
special serum I've devised. I can look
anyway I choose for up to an hour, with
just a simple injection.
BRUCE
Where's Betty?
STERNS
In the mutation lab. I've injected her
with a special new serum for my latest
experiment.
BRUCE
What experiment?
STERNS
Why, to pass along what I've become onto
the rest of the human race. I told you
before, we can end all kinds of diseases
and make the human race stronger and
healthier than the species has ever been
before...stronger than they've ever
dreamed. But I need to make sure I've
got the right amount of forces to stand
at my side to ensure that those who do
not share my vision won't be around to
spoil my foolproof plan.

BRUCE
You're going to mutate Betty with
gamma radiation?
STERNS
I've already tried my work with other
test subjects, several times before.
All of my experiments met with failure.
But with my latest serum, I'll be able
to prevent further fatalities by turning
her into a fellow gamma-irradiated
human, just like us.
BRUCE
Sterns, don't do this. Let her go!
STERNS
And send her where? Back to her father?
Or let her out so she can go and tell
the police? No, she's staying right
where she is.
Sterns pushes a button and turns on a TV on the wall
ahead. Bruce sees Betty on the screen, now gagged,
and she struggles and tries to get loose.
BRUCE
Betty!!
Sterns starts to attach wires to outlets built in the
larger restraints.
STERNS
She cannot see or hear you, Banner, but
you can get to watch her change into my
first successful gamma minion.
BRUCE
What are you going to do to me?
Sterns points at a chair next to Bruce's, where the
wires are hooked into the back of the second chair.
STERNS
It's quite simply, really. I'm going to
use my gamma-siphon machine, which is
wired into my own chair, to drain away
the brute strength of your green-skinned
alter-ego and transfer it into me. I
will absorb all of the Hulk's raw power
and you...well, my recent calculations
show you won't survive the transfer.

It's quite impressive, don't you think?
Your blood mutated me into the genius I
am today and, while I was not granted
enhanced physical strength, I received
telekinesis and the ability of short-
range teleportation. This second
encounter of ours will allow me to
become the perfect human being. Brains
with brawn.
Sterns taps a button on the transmitter in his ear as
he sets his arms down on the armrests of his chairs.
STERNS
Voice activation. Lock restraints for
chair two.
The open shackles of Sterns' chair automatically close
over his wrists and ankles. He smiles.

INT. MUTATION LAB - DAY - CONTINUOUS
The scanner aims the green target light on Betty's
forehead and moves left to right across her forehead.

electrodes on Betty's temples and chest emit a short

shocks end. Betty throws her head back, shuts her eyes
tight and gives a MUFFLED SHRIEK as the veins on her
body become visible and bulge.

arches her back again and two green WINGS start to grow
out of her shoulder blades...slowly...painful ly. Betty
SCREAMS louder as the tinge of her skin turns green.
INT. WAREHOUSE - LOWER LEVEL LAB - CONTINUOUS
Bruce stares on in horror, his own pupils starting to
turn green. His monitor watch BEEPS quicker. He shuts
his eyes and turns his head aside, trying to keep calm.
STERNS
Holding your own rage in check? How
pointless. Just listen to those
screams, Doctor. They're simply music
to my ears.
Bruce looks at the screen and at Betty, as her SCREAMS
get more INHUMAN --
INT. MUTATION LAB - DAY - CONTINUOUS
Betty has reached seven feet in height, her physique is
much more toned and her muscles are four times as large
as before. Betty struggles and the restraints break

and reveal a eighteen-foot wingspan. Betty's SCREAM is
now that of an ANIMAL SCREECH, and she is in a new form
entirely now -- the HARPY. Her eyes open, to reveal
glowing green pupils on black sclera.

smiles evilly and points at his desk. Three syringes
filled with peach liquid are set on the desk.
STERNS
All it takes is one injection from one
of those syringes and her current gamma-
mutated condition is permanently cured.
BRUCE
Then go in there and cure her! Please!
STERNS
Why should I? We don't even know what
she's capable of yet. Don't you want to
see for yourself?
BRUCE
No!!
Bruce struggles and tries to get free. He can't.
STERNS
That's it, Banner. Struggle. It won't
do you any good. Betty Ross is now my
first successful gamma-powered minion,

BRUCE
(screams, voice changes)
BEEEEEE-TTTTTTTTTTTTYYY!! !
His green pupils glow brighter. His bones POP and his
muscles flex, and his voice changes as he SCREAMS with
pain. Bruce's metamorphosis is slow, painful -- his
muscles get more toned and grow larger, his height
grows up and up, his skin changes tinge to green, his
first set of restraints snap off his wrists and ankles.
Sterns watches BRUCE (O. S.), and smiles with joy.
STERNS
Yes...Yes!!
Bruce grits his teeth as he hits the nine foot mark.
His enlarged wrists and ankles are secured in the big
set of restraints. He throws his head back, shuts his
eyes tight and gives an angry ROAR as he turns into the
Hulk. His chair buzzes and Sterns smiles, excited.
STERNS
Yes! The gamma siphon has just been
activated!
Hulk looks at Sterns and ROARS angrily. He struggles
to get loose from his large restraints -- and SCREAMS
as his body glows a dim green. The green energy around
Hulk's body goes down into the wires, to Sterns' chair
and into Sterns. He smiles and LAUGHS with joy. His
body starts to grow and swell.
STERNS
Yes!! It's working!!
Hulk starts CHOKING as he is slowly sapped of his own
strength. Sterns' body starts to grow slowly -- his
muscles get bigger, his height increases, etc.
STERNS

Hulk looks at the screen, confused. Sterns looks at

HULK

Hulk looks over at the desk and at the syringes. He

HULK

Hulk ROARS with pain as the energy around his body

FEET in height -- he's getting more muscular, much
wider than the Hulk.
Another SCREECH makes Hulk open his eyes. On the TV,

BET-TYYYYYYYYYY!!!
The energy around the Hulk starts to dim. The Hulk
struggles against his bonds, his body looking more
muscular and his strength starts to return. He GROWLS
with anger as Sterns STOPS growing.
STERNS
(deep voice)
Wait!! What are you doing to me?
Hulk opens his eyes and looks at Sterns, his pupils
burning bright green. He gives an angry, long ROAR of
rage, as his height reaches nine feet again and he
looks healthier.
ANGLE ON - STERNS. His body jerks with pain. He gives
a SCREAM of agony and his VOICE CHANGES to normal as he
SCREAMS. His height quickly decreases, his muscles
shrink to normal size, and he reverts back to his
normal green-skinned form.
STERNS
(screams with pain)
STOP IIIIIIIIIIT!!
ANGLE ON - THE HULK, looking angrier than he's been
previously. He ROARS, louder, ANGRIER... His
restraints begin to crack and BREAK OFF. He quickly
gets out of the chair, turns around to it, and ROARS
with rage as he pounds his fists into it. The CHAIR
BREAKS APART, the wires snap off --
-- and STERNS SCREAMS with pain as the wires on his own
chair snap off. He collapses out of the chair and
lands on the floor, clearly in pain.
Hulk turns around as he hears the distant ANIMAL
SCREECH of HARPY (O. S.) in the hall.
HULK
Betty...
Hulk runs to the desk, picks up the syringes and stuffs
them in his pants pocket. Hulk turns back, runs at the
shut door of the room and SMASHES through it AND the
wall. He runs into the hall and out of sight.

INT. LOWER LEVEL - MAIN HALL - DAY
Hulk runs down the hall, moving past one room after the
next. He stops running as he reaches the end of the
hall. The hall splits into two hallways -- one that
goes left, the other goes right. A distant SCREECH
echoes out from the right. Hulk turns right and --
INT. LOWER LEVEL - EAST HALL - CONTINUOUS
As Hulk rounds the corner, he goes into the hallway.
He runs ahead, moving past one room, where the door
has a sign that reads STORAGE ROOM, and then runs past
another room. He runs past a room, where its shut
door has a sign that reads JANITOR'S CLOSET, and Hulk
runs down the hall. He slows down and HARPY SCREECHES
as she enters the hall, flying, from the other end.
HULK
BETTY!!
Harpy turns her head and stays in mid-air, her wings
flapping. She notices the Hulk standing down the hall.
He approaches her slowly, calming down.
HULK
Betty...
Harpy glares at him, unfazed. Her wings flap a bit
faster and she goes down the hall to the Hulk. She
flaps her wings harder, flies faster -- and SCREECHES
angrily. Hulk stops and looks at Betty, as she makes
her hands into fists.
HULK
Betty! It Hulk! Stop --
WHAM!! Harpy RAMS right into the Hulk and pushes him
back. She SCREECHES as she punches her fists into his
chest and delivers an energy blast that shoves Hulk
backwards several dozen feet. He CRACKS the ground as
he lands on his back. Hulk sits up and looks at Harpy,
still in mid-air, and she SCREECHES angrily. Hulk gets
up to his feet and approaches Harpy.
HULK
Hulk not hurt Betty...Hulk NEVER hurt
Betty --
WHAM!! Another energy beam is fired, SMACKS Hulk in
the face, and shoves him back to the ground. Hulk rubs
his face, GRUNTS, and he sits up.

Hulk gets to his feet, and Harpy flies at him. She

claw-like fingers at the Hulk's throat. He dodges each
of her attempts and tries to pull her arms away. HARPY
SCREECHES and slashes her claws across Hulk's thick
neck, drawing green blood. Hulk GRUNTS with pain and
Harpy slashes her claws at his chest, again cutting
into him and drawing blood. Hulk GRUNTS and quickly
grabs Harpy's wrists. He struggles to pull her off of
him, but she wraps her legs around his waist, she flaps
her wings and tries to lift Hulk off the ground. Hulk
is lifted up a few inches from the floor, but he PULLS
harder, and Harpy is pulled down as Hulk's feet hit the
ground again. Hulk struggles to keep Harpy still, but
she struggles violently, and SCREECHES angrily.
HULK
(straining)
Stop...trying...to HURT Hulk...
(grunts)
Hulk LOVE Betty...
In response, Harpy SCREECHES and bites at his face.
Hulk puts his forearm across Harpy's neck and she
struggles to bite at him. Harpy SCREECHES angrily and
finally grabs his wrist. She tightens her grip,
squeezes her fingers and her nails draw blood. Hulk
GROWLS as he lets go and Harpy delivers a straight
punch to Hulk's face. He staggers back, nearly toppled
over, and Harpy SCREECHES as she punches her fists into
Hulk's chest. The double punch also fires an energy
blast from both fists, and Hulk is sent FLYING
BACKWARDS down the hall, and he hits the ground hard.
Hulk turns onto his side, GROANS, and tries to get up.
Harpy flies back, makes her hands into fists, and they
glow with energy. Hulk gets up to one knee, and then
he stands up. Harpy is about to fire another blast.
HULK
No...
Harpy SCREECHES and fires a blast at the Hulk. Hulk
ducks under the energy blast, charges down the hall,
and Harpy charges back at him. HARPY SCREECHES angrily
and aims her hands at the Hulk's face. Hulk leaps at
her, grabs Harpy by her wrists, and they fall to the
ground, cracking part of it as they land.

STABS IT into the side of her neck. HARPY SHRIEKS with
anger and pain, as the syringe is emptied into her
neck. Hulk gets up and off of Harpy, and he steps back
from her. Harpy gets up to one knee, makes her hands
into fists, and SCREECHES as energy glows over her
fists. The light of the energy grows dim, and the
energy quickly disappears from her hands.
Harpy SCREAMS with pain and grabs her own throat. She
collapses to her knees as her wings start to crack and
BREAK OFF bloodlessly from her back. Her skin changes
back to Caucasian, her hair turns from green to brown,
and her height shrinks down to normal. Harpy's eyes
widen as they revert back to normal, and she GASPS
loudly and she returns back to BETTY. Betty collapses
to all fours, out of breath and soaked with sweat. She
closes her eyes and MOANS from the pain.
ANGLE ON - THE HULK, as he stares at BETTY (O. S.).
The wounds of his body have slowly, yet visibly begun
to heal. Hulk looks at her in concern. He frowns.
Betty lowers her head, WHIMPERS and starts SOBBING. A
beat. Betty SNIFFLES and continues SOBBING. She tries
to get up, but collapses and is caught in the Hulk's
massive hands. Betty looks up, opens her eyes, and
sees the Hulk. He stares down at her a moment, eyeing
her softly...gently.

Hulk eyes Betty in concern. He frowns. Hulk holds her

quickly rushes to the exit with Betty.

Marlo, wearing a hospital gown, sits up on her hospital
bed. She looks at Ross, Greller and the other Soldiers
that are around her bed.
MARLO
What are you doing back here? I told
you I don't know what you're talking
about!
GRELLER
We know you don't, but we think you
might have some answers that can help
us.
MARLO
I told you, I don't remember anything
about that laboratory!
ROSS
Then let's start with what you DO
remember. Think back to something,
anything...It might help.
(a beat)
Listen. Several people have already
gone missing. They're likely dead by
now. And now, two more people have
been taken. What's the last thing you
remember?
MARLO
Like I said, I was in my car, driving
back to the dorm and I was checking to
see if Brittany had come back yet.
ROSS
Brittany? Brittany who?
MARLO
My roommate, Brittany Jennings.
Greller looks at the Soldiers, stunned. Ross narrows
his eyes and he looks back at Marlo.
ROSS
When was the last time you spoke to
Miss Jennings?

I don't know...I think the day before,
the same day she went missing.

ROSS
Which highway?
MARLO
She didn't say. Her battery was going
dead. She said she saw a light on at
this old warehouse and she was going
to double back to see if anyone could
help her out.
GRELLER
Which warehouse?
MARLO
She didn't say the name of it.
ROSS
Did she go in? Did she see anyone in
the warehouse?
MARLO
I don't know, I swear. Her phone went
out when we were talking.
GRELLER

Well, it's not much, but at least it's
something.
The RINGING of a cell phone interrupts them. Ross
reaches into his pocket, pulls out his phone as it

one bookshelf after the other. He slows down, stops,
and sets Betty down. He sits her against the same
corner that she was tranquilized at earlier. Betty
looks up at the Hulk, weak and tired. Hulk looks down
at her in concern. His wounds he received have mostly
healed by now and are nearly gone. He reaches out and
puts a hand on the side of her face. Hulk gently rubs
his hand against Betty's cheek and she weakly smiles.
BETTY
It's okay...Sit down. It's okay.
Betty gently sets her hand on the Hulk's own massive
hand, and she holds his hand. Hulk looks at her,
tiring quickly. He eyes her in concern, blinks, and
his pupils are blue again. Betty stares as she watches
the Hulk shrink down and his skin slowly changes back
to its Caucasian tinge. Within a few moments, he is

Several Soldiers quickly follow Greller into the room.
They keep their guns aimed at Bruce. Bruce holds up

One Soldier walks to Betty, removes his coat, and
drapes it over Betty. Ross enters the room, walks over

Soldier takes Betty's hand and gently helps her up to
her feet. Ross looks down from his daughter and at
Bruce. Ross narrows his eyes, upset. Ross looks up at
Greller, as Bruce slowly stands up.
ROSS
Bring them back to base.
Betty sneers at Ross, upset.
INT. WAREHOUSE - LOWER LEVEL LAB - NOON
Sterns, now wearing a black-leather uniform, walks down
the wrecked lab and to his desk. He pushes the record
button on his computer keyboard, he sits on his chair,
and he puts on his headset that's wired to it.
STERNS
Due to unforeseen... problems with my
original calculations, the Hulk's raw
brute strength was far greater than I
anticipated and imagined. Because of
his sheer power, I've come to the
conclusion that the more enraged Dr.
Banner's alter-ego gets, the more his
strength increases. It's a fascinating
quality and a most welcome discovery,
but because I didn't see this fact
sooner, this has caused a setback to my
plans. The Hulk destroyed my gamma
siphon, he cured Dr. Ross of her
mutation, and both of them have gone.

Sterns sits back in his chair and flinches.
STERNS
The lack of the first siphon machine is
a great loss, but fortunately, the
second is still in the mutation lab.
With the proper adjustments, I'll have
my guinea pig secured with even thicker
restraints, and this time, the strength
I had nearly absorbed shall be mine once
more. But first, I will need to finish
my formula before I bring in my latest
test subject.
Sterns stands up and smiles.
STERNS (CONT'D)
And I know just where to find him.
INT. SAMSON'S HOME - BEDROOM - NOON
Samson sits on his chair by his bed. The Muscular
Soldier is lying on his back on the bed, nearly in
tears. Samson writes on his notepad.
SAMSON
And how did that make you feel?
MUSCULAR SOLDIER
Terrible! I mean...Louie was the only
friend I had! Nobody else on the team
would even go near me, or talk to me!
They all hated me and thought I was just
a dumb jock!
SAMSON
But with your grades and talents, you
were better than that...better than
them.
MUSCULAR SOLDIER
(sobbing)
I KNOW!!
The Soldier breaks down into tears, SOBBING like a
baby. Samson draws a tissue out of his Kleenex box,
hands it over to the Muscular Soldier and he LOUDLY
blows his nose into the tissue. Samson writes down
some notes on his notebook page.

at Samson and shakes his head.
GRELLER
Oh, you have got to be sh*tting me.
SAMSON
If you don't mind, we're in the middle
of a possible breakthrough here.
GRELLER
Get on your feet, Soldier, and get in

MUSCULAR SOLDIER SNIFFLES, gets off the bed and stands

MUSCULAR SOLDIER
Yes, sir.
The Soldier walks out of the room and exits.

SAMSON
Would you like to make an appointment?
GRELLER
You're coming with me, Samson. Your

Greller opens the back door of the van. Three Soldiers
lie in the van, with tranquilizer darts stuck in their
necks.
GRELLER

Greller looks at the two Soldiers in the front seats of
the van, and finds they too are unconscious. Two darts
are fired from behind, and hit Samson and Greller on
the back of their necks. Greller turns around and
holds up his gun. Sterns, in normal form, walks to the
van and holds up his hand. He shoves Greller into the
van with his telekinesis and he hits the ground.
Sterns waves his hand and slides the van door shut.
Samson looks on, stunned, but getting groggy quick.
STERNS (NORMAL FORM)
Dr. Leonard Samson, I presume.
Samson turns to leave, but collapses and passes out.
INT. GAMMA BASE - CLINIC
The clinic has at least a dozen beds, but only one is
occupied. Betty, in a hospital gown, is lying on a
medical bed, and has electrodes on her chest and heart
that are hooked up to monitors. Betty looks ahead at
Ross, as he stands in front of her bed.
ROSS

ROSS
I know he did. That's the only reason
I'm allowing him to stay in that cell
unharmed and not drugged up to his eye-
balls in our prison compound.
BETTY
He turned me back to normal by the very
creature he's trying to cure himself of.
You've got to let me go down there...
ROSS
(interrupts)
That's entirely out of the question.
You're still barely able to stand after
the ordeal Sterns put you through.
Betty glares at him. A beat. Betty tries to sit up,
but flinches and sits back down. Ross SIGHS.
ROSS
I'm not letting him out of his cell...
but visiting isn't entirely out of the
question.
Betty looks at Ross, puzzled.
INT. GAMMA BASE - JAIL - AFTERNOON
Bruce sits on a bed in a twelve foot wide, twelve foot
tall jail cell, and is wearing a T-shirt, red pants and
boots. His wrists are handcuffed together. A TV set
is on the wall in front of him. It turns on by itself.
Bruce looks up and at the TV. He sees Betty on the
screen.
INT. GAMMA BASE - CLINIC - CONTINUOUS

BETTY (CONT'D)
I'm glad he did.
Betty looks back at the screen and grimaces.
BRUCE
What's wrong?
BETTY
Nothing...I'm fine. I'm just...I'm so
worn out. I feel like I've run a
marathon. Everything hurts. It hurts
to move...breathe...very muscle in my
body is sore.
BRUCE
You'll feel better soon. Your body is
just adjusting from the metamorphosis
that you experienced.
A beat. Betty eyes Bruce in concern.
BETTY
Is this what it feels like for you?
When you change back and forth?
There's so much pain.
(a beat)
Does it always hurt like this?
BRUCE
Honestly?
(a beat)
It did. At first. The first time I
changed back, I could barely move for
hours. Every move I made just felt
worse. But then every time I changed,
my body would adapt and heal. I think
when I change into the Hulk, the
accelerated healing factor of the
creature also is what lets me survive
the strain from the change back and
forth.

Betty eyes Bruce sadly. She holds up her hand and sets
it on the screen.
BETTY
I'm so sorry, Bruce...For everything.
I never meant to hurt you. The injuries
I caused it, caused you...
BRUCE
(interrupts)
You have nothing to apologize for. I've
already healed from whatever you did to
me.
BETTY
That's not the point. What I went
through...It wasn't like what you go
through. I don't know what I did, what
I was capable of... I was a mindless
creature that attacked like a wild
animal. I could've killed you.
BRUCE
But you didn't. Betty, whatever you
were, what you turned into...that's
gone now. It's not coming back.
BETTY
But how can you be sure? How can I be
sure I won't get changed into another
gamma creature again?
ROSS
I've already taken care of that. When
you told us what happened, Agent Jones
sent us a serum to make your system
immune to gamma radiation exposure.
We injected you with it when you were
asleep.
BRUCE
You did? How do you know that it'll
even work?
ROSS
Trust me. It works. You'll never have
to worry about turning back into that
creature ever again.
BETTY
But what about Bruce? Are you going to
help him find a cure for the Hulk?
(CONTINUED)

ROSS
That's out of the question.
BETTY
Why not? He needs help.
ROSS
He needs to remain right where he is.
BETTY
Why is it you're willing to do
anything to cure me of my mutation,
but you won't lift a finger to do the
same to Bruce?
ROSS
Because you're my daughter and whether
you choose to believe it or not, I
care a great deal about you. And you
weren't the one who subjected yourself
to that Gamma Pulse experiment.
Betty sneers at Ross.
MUSCULAR SOLDIER (O. S.)

ROSS
Not now.
MUSCULAR SOLDIER (O. S.)

He did what?!? Where's General Greller?
Betty looks at her father, puzzled. He ignores her.
MUSCULAR SOLDIER (O. S.)

He's still unconscious. The rest of us
were tranquilized and he took Samson
with him. We don't know which way they
were headed, sir.

here immediately! We can't let Sterns

BETTY
He's got Leonard?
Ross notices Betty and Bruce are looking at him.
ROSS
We'll find him, Betty. I promise.
INT. MUTATION LAB - AFTERNOON
Samson is seated on the same chair that Betty was. New
shackles secure him to the chair, with a larger second
set fastened over them. Samson has electrodes on his
forehead, chest, heart and forearms. Sterns, in his
green skinned form, is at the side of Samson's chair.
Both men are wearing a stretchy purple uniform, and
Sterns is connecting wires to Samson's restraints.
Sterns smiles as Samson struggles to get loose.
STERNS
Now if you'd just stop squirming for a
moment, we can get on with this little
experiment a lot quicker.
SAMSON
What are you doing?
STERNS
Think of it as learning from past
mistakes, Doctor. When I briefly
mutated Dr. Ross, her intelligence was
reduced to that of a wild animal. But
this time, I'm going to make sure your
intelligence remains just the same.
Sterns puts a gag in Samson's mouth, between his teeth,
and secures it. Sterns holds up a syringe filled with
clear fluid and holds it to the side of Samson's head.
STERNS
Now bite down on that gag. Trust me.
This is going to be a considerably
painful injection.
EXT. WAREHOUSE - AFTERNOON

The syringe Sterns had, now empty, is set on a nearby
table. Sterns is seated in his own chair, with his own
restraints secured to his wrists and ankles. The
scanner has just finished scanning Samson's forehead
and it turns off. Three syringes filled with green
serum are set on a table across the room.
STERNS
There's always a chance something could
go wrong, but if my calculations are
correct, my antidote won't be necessary.
Now, you will feel a... slight jolt.
Sterns pushes a red button on his armrest and the
electrodes on Samson emit a brief electric jolt. He
gives a MUFFLED CRY as he spasms from the shock, and as
the current ends, Samson's eyes widen as his pupils
glow bright green. Sterns turns his head as he notices
a light flashing on the wall.
STERNS
Intruders.
INT. WAREHOUSE - MAIN HALL - CONTINUOUS
There is a POUNDING on the front door, which is boarded
shut. WHAM!! The front entrance doors are knocked off
the hinges by a battering ram and the Soldiers enter
the warehouse, with their guns held up.
INT. MUTATION LAB - AFTERNOON - CONTINUOUS
Samson shuts his eyes and lets out a muffled SCREAM as
he struggles against his restraints. The first set of
restraints crack and break off, as Samson's body grows
more muscular, taller, and wider than a normal man.
His skin remains Caucasian, but his hair turns green
and it starts to grow longer and longer, reaching down
to his shoulders. Samson lets out MUFFLED SCREAMS as
his metamorphosis continues and Sterns smiles at him.
STERNS
Fascinating.

second, bigger set of restraints, but he can't escape.
Sterns' own body glows with green energy.
STERNS
Yes... Yes!!
INT. WAREHOUSE - LOWER LEVEL HALL - AFTERNOON
The Soldiers storm down the staircase, their guns held

the hallway. Soldier 2 turns and looks down the hall.
SOLDIER 2

INT. MUTATION LAB - CONTINUOUS
Samson SCREAMS in agony and struggles violently against
his bonds. Sterns, meanwhile, has reverted to a ten-
foot-tall, muscular version of his former self, looking
almost HULK-LIKE but with the enlarged brain-shaped
cranium. The doors are kicked open and the Soldiers
storm into the room. They quickly stop as they notice
Sterns, and he CHUCKLES at them in a GROWLING VOICE.

SCREAMS STOP and he passes out, but continues to
convulse from the energy. Soldiers 2 and 3 run over
to Samson's chair, they pull at the wires with his
gloved hand, and tear them out of the chair. The
green energy glowing around Samson's body disappears
and Samson collapses back onto the chair. The energy
also disappears from Sterns' body too. Sterns ANGRILY
GROWLS as he looks at the Soldiers and they step back.
He sneers and easily breaks the shackles off of his
wrists and ankles. Sterns stands up, his eleven-foot
height almost hitting the light of the ceiling. The
Soldiers step back, but they fire their guns at Sterns.

Soldiers 3, 5, and 7 hit the ground hard. Soldiers 8
and 9 SMASH through two of the windows to the next room
and land out of sight.
Hulk-Sized Sterns steps out into the hall and notices
the Soldiers. STERNS LAUGHS WICKEDLY, and looks around
the hall. He grabs Solider 1 from the floor with his left hand, lifts him up from the floor and SOLDIER 1
GASPS for breath. Sterns sneers at him.
STERNS (HULK-SIZED)
Did you really think you could stop me
from getting back what is MINE?!?
Soldier 1 doesn't answer. He can't breathe.
INT. WAREHOUSE - EMPTY LAB - CONTINUOUS

INT. GAMMA BASE - CLINIC - AFTERNOON
The doors slide open and a mid-20s, African-American
NURSE enters the room. She hands over a chart to Ross,
who is seated by Betty's bed.
NURSE
The blood tests just came back, sir.
Dr. Ross is at perfect health and one-
hundred percent gamma free.
ROSS
That's good news. Thank you, nurse.
The Nurse nods, turns and walks out of the room. The
doors slide shut behind her. Betty keeps her eyes on
the TV screen, at Bruce. He eyes her in concern. She
smiles at him. Betty looks up as the doors slide open
and Gabriel enters the room.
GABRIEL
General, we've got a problem.
Ross looks at Gabriel and immediately stands.
ROSS
What's happened?
GABRIEL
We've lost contact with all of the
soldiers at the warehouse. There's also
a new sighting ten miles west of here.
Gabriel walks over to the side wall and turns on the
second TV. As the picture shows up, Gabriel changes it
to Channel 5 News. The Hulk-Sized Sterns is charging
through the city and easily throws aside parked police
cars like Hot Wheels toys.
REPORTER (O. S.)
And here you can see it live. This
footage is being sent in to us by ace
cameraman Victor Azaria, of a massive
green monster tearing through the city.

STERNS (HULK-SIZED)
Oh, no -- no! No!!
Sterns goes down, lands right on top of a parked jeep
and CRUSHES it. Sterns stumbles as he lands and falls
over. He looks at his massive body and CHUCKLES.
STERNS (HULK-SIZED)
A minor miscalculation. No matter.
Sterns gets up and notices several Soldiers have run
outside. They draw their guns and open fire.
STERNS (HULK-SIZED)
Yeah...Like that is going to work.
Hulk-Sized Sterns picks up the broken jeep and throws
it at a group of Soldiers. The Soldiers SCREAM in
fear, and are instantly hit by the jeep and knocked
away. Sterns moves one step at a time towards the
main building, his footsteps stomping onto the ground.
Sterns swats away two Soldiers with a simple smack of
his hand and they SCREAM as they're shoved back a few
hundred feet, out of sight.
STERNS (HULK-SIZED)

BETTY (ON TV)
Bruce!! NO!!
Sterns notices the TV screen, as Bruce struggles to get

and breaks it. Bruce GASPS for air, barely able to
breathe. Sterns looks at Bruce and CHUCKLES.
STERNS (HULK-SIZED)
Am I holding you too tight? Forgive
me, Dr. Banner. I'm still trying to
hold back and adjust to my new
strength...or should I say Leonard's
new strength.
Bruce looks at Sterns, flinches, and Sterns walks into
the hall with Bruce. Gunfire shoots out and hits
Sterns on his back, but doesn't hurt him. Sterns turns
around to see several Soldiers in the hall, firing
their guns at him. Sterns sneers and holds Bruce
behind his back, shielding him from the gunfire.
STERNS (HULK-SIZED)
You will never learn.
Sterns STOMPS his left foot on the ground, and the
floor CRACKS open. The floor shakes as it's cracked,
and the Soldiers wobble off-balance and hit the floor,
while Sterns isn't affected by it.
ANGLE ON - BRUCE, held behind Sterns' back. He tries
to get free from Sterns' massive grip, but can't.
STERNS LAUGHS wickedly and Bruce's eyes glow green. He
shuts his eyes tight, and begins to change. His limbs

Hulk gets out of Sterns' grip, turns around and kicks
Sterns in the back. The kick shoves him forward

his hands into fists and lets out a loud, angry ROAR.
Sterns turns around and smiles at HULK (O. S.).

Sterns gets up to his feet and the Hulk charges at him.

Sterns turns the buttons on the sides of his wrist
gauntlets. Dim green energy shines over his fists.
STERNS (CONT'D)
... then you shouldn't either.

Sterns gets to the Hulk and PUNCHES him in the face.
Hulk blocks the next punch, pushes Sterns back and gets
to his feet. Sterns aims his left fist at Hulk and he
fires a green energy blast that hits Hulk's chest. The
blast pushes him back and Hulk falls through the hole in the wall and hits the ground hard. Hulk gets up to
his feet and is hit on the face by another energy
blast. Hulk staggers back and nearly falls over.
Sterns fires another blast. HULK GRUNTS as the energy
blast hits his chest and pushes him back. Sterns turns
a dial on his gauntlets and the green energy covers his
hands like green boxing gloves. He charges at Hulk and
delivers a punch that hits Hulk across the jaw. Hulk
staggers back, hurt. He recovers and punches at Sterns.
He dodges it and punches Hulk on the face. The Hulk
stumbles back and then Sterns delivers a haymaker that
nearly topples Hulk over. Hulk regains his balance and
punches at Sterns, but Sterns holds up his left hand
and fires an energy blast that hits Hulk in the chest.
Hulk GRUNTS with pain as he's sent flying backwards and
hits the ground hard. Hulk struggles to get up and
Sterns crouches in front of him. He punches Hulk
across the jaw. He delivers another punch. Sterns
puts his hand to Hulk's chest, fires a close range
energy blast and Hulk GROWLS with pain as the blast
punctures his thick skin, drawing green blood. Hulk
falls and Sterns smiles at him. He delivers a right
hook to Hulk's jaw. Hulk grabs at Sterns, but he waves
his hand and Hulk's arms are pinned to the sides to the
floor by telekinesis. He tries to lift his arms, but
can't. Sterns delivers a right hook to Hulk's jaw and
his nose bleeds again.
STERNS
I'm looking forward to dissecting you,
beast.
Sterns delivers another close range energy blast to
Hulk's ribs. Hulk GROWLS with pain.
STERNS (CONT'D)
You may be the "strongest one there is",
but you are no match for me!
Sterns delivers another punch to Hulk's jaw. Sterns
CHUCKLES in amusement.
BETTY (O. S.)
Bruce!!
Sterns and Hulk look up through the hole in the wall.

Betty?
INT. LOWER LEVEL 3 - HALL - AFTERNOON
Betty, Ross and Greller look down at them through the
hole in the ground from the third floor.
BETTY
Bruce!! No!!
ROSS
Are you out of your mind? Get away
from there! We need to find a way up
and out of here!
WHAM!! Betty and Ross are knocked backwards by a
telekinetic hit and they hit the ground hard. The hit
loosens and cracks some of the broken ground.
INT. LOWER LEVEL 5 - HALL - CONTINUOUS
Sterns smiles, with his left hand held up at the hole
in the wall.
STERNS
None of you will leave here alive...
starting with the Hulk.
Sterns looks at Hulk. He's more mad than hurt...and
he's getting angrier. His pupils burn bright green.
STERNS
You will never learn.
Sterns aims his right hand at Hulk's chest, but Hulk's
arms struggle and quickly get free of the telekinesis.
He grabs Sterns' wrist tightly and Sterns SCREAMS as
Hulk's grip BREAKS his wrist and his wrist gauntlet.
WHAM!! Hulk delivers a punch to Sterns' chest that
shoves him backwards and he hits the floor. Hulk gets
to his feet, grabs a chunk of debris and ROARS as he
throws it at Sterns. Sterns teleports away from the
chunk of debris, it SMASHES through the wall, and then
Sterns reappears behind Hulk. Hulk turns around and
backhands him across the jaw. Sterns is knocked aside
and hits the wall. Hulk picks him up and delivers a
head-butt that knocks Sterns back and he SCREAMS with
pain. Sterns collapses to the floor, blood dripping
down his nose. He gets to his feet, is grabbed by the
throat by Hulk and pinned against the wall. Hulk makes
his free hand into a fist and Sterns GASPS for air.

Hulk... I can't...breathe...
Hulk GROWLS with anger, gritting his teeth. He rears
his fist back to punch, pauses and -- PUNCHES. His
fist hits the wall, just inches away from Sterns' head.
Hulk throws Sterns aside and he hits the floor. He
GASPS in air and gets to all fours. Hulk turns around
and walks to the end of the hall. He stops as he hears
STERNS LAUGHING. Sterns lifts up his left hand and his
unbroken gauntlet glows with green energy, getting
brighter and wider to make a white-hot beam.
STERNS
You still can't kill in cold blood.
That's what makes you weak.
A CRASHING sound catches both of their attention.
Sterns looks up to see the floor above his telekinesis
had further cracked has SNAPPED OFF and is FALLING DOWN
right for him.
WHAM!! The falling floor debris BURIES Sterns alive,
with so many pieces and so much heavy wreckage on top
of him that none of Sterns is seen. All that's left is
a bloody, broken wrist gauntlet.
Hulk GROWLS and looks up through the hole in the wall.
Betty, Ross and Greller look back down. Hulk calms
down and looks up at Betty sadly.
HULK
Bet-ty...
INT. LOWER LEVEL 3 - HALL - AFTERNOON
Hulk takes a step forward, standing under the hole in
the ground. The sounds of distant SIRENS from outside
catches their attention. Betty looks up at the hole in
the ceiling above her and then looks down through the
hole in the floor.
BETTY
(softly)
Stay...Stay with me.
Ross grabs onto Betty and gently pulls her back. He
glares at the Hulk. Hulk GROWLS at him and steps back.
BETTY
No! Wait!!

INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - NIGHT
Samson lies in a large hospital bed, wearing a large
hospital gown. Betty sits by his bed and looks at him.
He smiles at her.
SAMSON
Hey.
BETTY
Hey.
(a beat)
How do you feel?
SAMSON
Honestly?
(a beat)
Much better. I should be sore, but I'm
not. I think it's like what the Hulk
has. Some kind of accelerated healing
factor that lets me recover faster than
normal.
Samson looks at Betty, confused.
SAMSON
What did the lab reports say?
BETTY
The doctors said that whatever Sterns
injected you with, it's permanently
bonded to your blood cells. Your gamma
exposure is permanent.
(a beat)
There's no way to cure you.
SAMSON
Like Bruce.
(a beat)
Betty...the Hulk saved my life. Where
is he?
A beat. Betty looks at the hospital room's window and
at the sky.
BETTY
He's gone.

INT. GAMMA BASE - OFFICE - NIGHT
Gabriel and Ross stand in the large, undamaged office.
On the wall is an enormous viewing screen. They look
at footage of surveillance cameras taken from parks,
traffic lights, etc. The door opens and Greller walks
into the room.
GRELLER
Still no sign of him?
ROSS
No. We've checked the security camera
footage after yesterday's little
incident. There's no sign of Banner,
or his big green monster.
GRELLER
When can we get Gamma Base repaired and
running at full capacity again?
VOICE (O. S.)
Sooner than you'd think, I'd say.
Ross closes his eyes, annoyed. A man in a trench coat
and uniform, with his face unseen, walks into the room.
VOICE
You know, I come all this way down
here to help you. I didn't complain
when you continued your little search
without my knowledge or consent. I
didn't even shout when Tony Stark's
Hulkbuster Robots were stolen,
reprogrammed and sent against Banner.
We actually got some useful data after
that little brawl and know where
there's room for improvement. But
losing the very man we came all the
way down here to try and talk to?
The man steps forward and reveals the familiar face of
NICK FURY, with an eye-patch over his right eye.
FURY
That's unfortunate.
ROSS
We've got all of our available units
deployed and searching the city. We
even have men in New York, Jersey,
West Virginia... We'll find him.

Fury smiles and steps forward.
FURY
That's what we're afraid of, General.
Your confrontations with the Hulk don't
have a history of ending well, do they?
Especially after this latest attack
with Samuel Sterns.
ROSS
Sterns is dead, Fury. I was there when
the debris collapsed on him.
FURY
Were you now?
(a beat)
Then tell me this. If you saw Dr.
Sterns dead and buried, then why is his
body missing after we just finished
clearing up that debris?
Ross, Greller and Gabriel are stunned by this. Fury
looks over at Gabriel.
FURY
I want you to get our men together.
We're going to look ourselves. And
this time, we're not going to hurt Dr.
Banner. I owe him that.
ROSS
Why? What did he do for you to deserve
such a gesture?
Fury smiles.
FURY
Long story. And we've got a plane to
catch. You're put back in charge of the
base since Agent Gray will be returning
with me. We'll be in touch, General.
Fury turns and leaves with Gabriel.
INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - NIGHT
Betty sits by Samson's bed and she holds his hand.
SAMSON
I'm sorry, Betty. I know you wanted to
go with him...to help him. Is there
anything I can do to help?

A beat. Betty shakes her head.
BETTY
Just get some rest and get well soon.
I'll check on you tomorrow, okay?
Samson smiles and nods.
SAMSON
All right.
Betty stands up, walks to the door and opens it. Betty
walks out and shuts the door behind her.
INT. HOSPITAL - HALL - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS
Betty turns and walks off down the hall. A man steps
before her, wearing a business suit, and blocks her
path. She looks ahead, stunned.
MAN
What? No hug for an old friend?
BETTY
Stark?
TONY STARK steps forward and smiles at Betty. Gabriel
walks over from behind and stands at Stark's side.
STARK
It's been a while since we last saw
each other, hasn't it? When was the
last time we met? Four months ago?
BETTY
What are you doing here?
STARK
Well, I take it you heard I've teamed
up with SHIELD lately. You know. The
Strategic Headache-Inducing... Elite...
Lah-dee Dah.
GABRIEL
That's not what that stands for.
STARK
Well, I'd say it's close enough.
BETTY
Tony, go away. I'm not going to help
you try and capture Bruce...

STARK
Whoa, whoa, whoa, there. Back-up. Did
I say I was going to ask you anything
like that? Hmm? I didn't come down
here to ask you that, Dr. Ross.
BETTY
Then what do you want?
STARK
Betty, I owe Bruce a debt. And unlike
your father, I know when to stop going
after the would-be menace that is the
Hulk. I'm not here to ask you to help
me. I came here to help you.
CUE THE "LONELY MAN" THEME AGAIN.
Betty looks at Stark, puzzled.
EXT. SMALL TOWN PLAZA - NIGHT
Cars pass on by down the road. One car drives off down
a long road and slows down at a traffic light. As the
light turns red, the WALK on the traffic walk sign goes
on. Several people walk across the street. One of
them is Bruce, in a jacket, T-shirt, jeans and boots.
He is carrying a bag in his hands. Bruce walks across
the street, to the next sidewalk, and walks by a small
apartment building. He walks by the nearby diner, then
past the clothing store, and then to the other side of
the sidewalk. He turns and walks off to an alleyway.
The "LONELY MAN" THEME IS CUT OFF as Bruce is grabbed
and dragged away, deep into the alley, by two MUGGERS.
EXT. ALLEYWAY - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS
The Muggers SLAM Bruce back-first against a dumpster.
He GRUNTS from the hit and the Muggers hold onto his
arms tight. Two more MUGGERS, armed with crowbars,
step towards them. The LEAD MUGGER steps forward,
holding a pocket knife.
LEAD MUGGER
Check his wallet. Get the cash.
BRUCE
Please...Don't do this.
Mugger 3 grabs Bruce's wallet from his pocket and opens
it. The wallet has a price tag on it.

MUGGER 3
He's only got twenty bucks.
MUGGER 1
What'd you spend the rest of your
cash on? The wallet?
Mugger 3 grabs his bag, sets it down and unzips it. He
thumbs through the contents inside.
MUGGER 3
T-shirt... another shirt... shorts...
shorts...
Mugger 3 pulls out a pair of stretchy purple pants and
looks at the Lead Mugger, puzzled.
MUGGER 3
Just clothes and no cash?
BRUCE
Please...Just take the money and go.
I don't want any trouble --
Mugger 3 stands and punches Bruce across the jaw.
MUGGER 2
Twenty bucks? That's not much of a
score.
Lead Mugger holds up the pocket knife for Bruce to see.
LEAD MUGGER (CONT'D)
You sure you don't have a few extra
bucks on you?
A rapid beeping becomes audible. The other Muggers
notice the noise.
BRUCE
Please...Don't make me angry.
Bruce looks at the lead Mugger in the eyes, sweating.
BRUCE (CONT'D)
You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
Mugger 3 punches Bruce across the jaw. The beeping
continues, getting louder.
LEAD MUGGER
What the h*ll is that noise?

Mugger 2, who is holding Bruce's left arm, looks down
at Bruce's wrist. He notices the monitor watch.
INSERT - ON THE WATCH. The screen shows his heartbeat
is at 155...159...161...
Mugger 3 punches Bruce on his gut and BRUCE GRUNTS with
pain.
CU ON - Bruce, his head lowered. He lifts his head up,
opens his eyes, and they glow GREEN.
EXT. SMALL TOWN PLAZA - NIGHT
THE MUGGERS (O. S.) SCREAM. THE HULK (O. S.) ROARS.
Sounds of a STRUGGLE are audible. Muggers 1 and 2
SCREAM as they're THROWN away and sent FLYING across
the street.
The Lead Mugger and the others run off, across the
street, and cars screech to a halt and HONK their
horns as they run past.
LEAD MUGGER
Run!! RUN!!
Mugger 3 slips on a puddle of water in the road, falls
back and hits the ground. Mugger 3 flinches, but sits
up and turns around --
MUGGER 3'S POV - MUGGER 3 (O. S.) SCREAMS, as the Hulk
charges after them from the alley. HULK ROARS angrily
as he reaches his hand out to MUGGER 3 (O. S.), and he
charges RIGHT AT THE CAMERA. Hulk's reached-out hand
darkens the screen.
