Having written horrible comic book movie stinkers like Elektra, Fantastic Four, and X3, I can't help but wonder WHY they keep letting him write this stuff.

personally I hate the guys guts. I think he should be trounced out of hollywood and go hang with Uwe Boll or something

Given how good the film turned out to be, I suppose Edward Norton did a little more than just "a few revisions" on the script. Because I find it hard to believe that Zak Penn could suddenly become competent.

I find it hard to believe too. Norton's influence is the only logical explanation .
I ask you: How stupid can he possibly be to take an easy character like Elektra and turn it into such a colossal joke? ANY idiot could have handled that better.

And the punch line is: he's supposed to be writing Captain America and Avengers as well!!

Is David Goyer better or worse than Penn?

Are you kidding? Goyer wrote Batman Begins. That alone trumps everything Penn ever did including X2.

Penn didn't have a lot to do with the script to X2 since David Hayter and Bryan Singer were calling the shots thankfully. That's how you can see the difference between X2 and X3.

While one certainly has to admire Penn's passion for comic books the guy simply cannot write!

Don't worry, he's not even touching Cap. Marvel hired David Self, who wrote the screenplay for Road to Perdition to write this film's script.

Road to Perdition was an amazing movie. I have to admit that when I first saw the previews I thought it would be crap but then it aired during the lockout (any NHL fans will remember that) and I went out and bought it the next day. One of the best films I've seen.

I know, which is why, even after the horror that was the original Cap film, I'm actually really looking forward to this adaption, so long as they cast him right to go with the excellent screen writer they got.

Only two things from Penn's Hulk script made it into this film. Norton rewrote almost the entire thing but his agreement kept him from getting the credit he deserved. Not to mention they cut over 35 minutes of Norton's work that better be on the DVD. That's why the fight wasn't the 26 minutes as promised along with a few other scenes that hit the floor.

Excellent news!! lol I thought that because IMDB said Zak Penn was to write it, but it's no secret that IMDB can be unreliable at times.
Well that does take a load off my mind.

I liked Road to Perdition, but it lacked something that kept it from being a really good movie (I never use the term great).

Yes, we're taking Wikipedia's word over IMDB on this one. Way to go to credible sources folks.
