| X-Men: The Last Stand |
 |
| How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... |
|
You're over thinking these movies way too much... I am a humungous fan of X-Men myself. I still buy the monthly comics and have been for years. But you're not thinking this through correctly. First off, it's a movie. So it has to have a base character. You can't make a movie the same way you make a comic book because with the comic, you can have several different stories going on at once, but notice how comics span over several issues, sometimes taking a year to finish one story line... If you tried doing this in a 2 hour movie, THEN you'd be trying to cram too much into one movie. And remember, the X-Men movies aren't meant to be a trilogy of any kind, you you have to have the immediate problem resolved in one movie. Thats also why Wolverine was the one they revlved the story around because he is the most interesting and popular X-Men from the books.
Secondly, you also talk about their ages are wrong and they didn't have the core cast that some people wuold haved liked to seen. But what you want is something based directly on the comic. But look at the comics themselves. How many times have they created alternate universes and different X-Men comics to get new fresh story lines in there...? I mean they have even created Ultimate X-Men which is nothing like the orginal X-Men comic books, are you going to write into Marvel complaining how it strays from the orginal? No. The movie is just doing the same thing, creating a new fresh universe that is similar enough to what die hard fans know, and something to drag in people who never read an issue of X-Men in their life.
So let's not bash these movies because they don't follow exactly what we know from the comic book, because if you did that, you'd have to start bashing some of the comic books themselves. |
