Anticipation Level:
How excited (or not) I am to see this movie...
I am an X-men geek. I don't wear all the clothing or collect all those collecors iems but I grew up with the cartoons when I was young. So seeing that this movie is about one of my favorite past times and it may be the last movie of the franchise, I am kind of excited. The key is not too overhype the movie then it will always be a dissapointment. A movie is there to entertain and sometimes make us question society as a whole. Just watch i and have fun, that is what the movies are about.
Movie Review:
My thoughts on this movie...
I liked this movie. It provided the summer action that we come to expect and some social activism that comes with the X-men franchise. Though there were areas that could have been improved, the movie was fun to watch and ponder. I always love watching ways in which the mutants can use their powers and you get a lot of that in this movie. I liked the Jean Grey story because it brought some nice emotional power to the movie. The mutant cure did the same. One thing that could have been improved was to subsitute some action with a little more story about and surrounding the mutant cure because it ties in very closely now with Gay rights. Can you cure something you are born with? I also wish there was more about the Jean Grey story because I found her story to be very interesting; a woman wih a power detained and all the characters involved in her peronal life. I also wish they would have found a better actor to play the president. Someone with more pesence because for god's sake, it's the president! Ian Mckellan(Magneto) and Patrick Stewart(Xavier) always have a presence around them that makes the X-men movies so good and this president just did not have it for me. However, you can't always get what you want. Other than that I thought the action sequences were pretty well done, the Jean, Wolverine, Xavier, Magneto relationship was done fairly well and the many issues this movie raised was nice. Overall, this was some good summer movie fun but if some acion could have been substituted for some more plot development and some characters had recieved more camera time, it could have been great movie fun. Good movie though and I hope you all see it and have a good time. Good Night!
