Terminator 5 is coming and that is no surprise. McG has signed to a 3 picture deal and we have already gotten the first one in Terminator Salvation but now Terminator 5 is in the works. In Salvation they deliberately avoided the Time Travel angle but in Terminator 5 they will touch on the time travel and how it came to be as well as introduce a new Terminator villain. This film will take place as a prequel to Terminator 4 in almost modern time. From IGN comes the following quote from McG;

"One of the problems is that in a post-apocalyptic world, everybody's a little bummed out because your brother melted... your friends are gone. Everything went haywire. So the idea is to play with one of the tried and true rules of the franchise time travel and introduce it in this picture. I don't want to share too much, but let's just say it's very, very likely that John Connor is going to end up running through rooms like this where he knows something that none of us know.

And I think that is a platform for great storytelling. Because I always love it when [Kyle] Reese is in our world, as you saw in the first picture, and everybody thinks he's out of his [expletive] mind and he knows and he can't afford to be concerned. And he's got to convince someone he cares about to come with him! And that's one of the engines. And we'll have a much more clearly defined antagonist in the new picture. It will be more of a chase movie with a new Terminator that is on your ass."

Terminator Salvation for me was a flawed but fun film that was partially redeemed by the fantastic work done by Sam Worthington. I look forward to Terminator 5 and hopefully Christian Bale can deliver this time in the role of John Conner.

Well, the tricky thing with time travel movies is that they don't necessarily have come chronologically after a particular event in order to follow it. If that even makes sense.

"I seek faith in the unfaithful just as you seek peace and atonement in a war-torn world."

"The common wit is not fair to middling."

"Laugh at me all you want, one day you'll all be kissing my feet."

"Young age is no excuse for poor taste."

"To be a prep is to be blissfully unaware of one's own mediocrity."

It sounds like a sequel that involves time traveling to a time before T4 and not necessarily a true "prequel"

"It's not the AGE it's the MILAGE." -----Indiana Jones

"My lust for power is RAVENOUS!!" ---Dak Olander

"Then that is who you shall be, rise Darth Ravenous." ------Darth Frost

The silly thing is that Terminator: Salvation was a prequel, too.

It messes with your head.

why do we have to deal with time travel again? why cant we just get through the war with the time travelling in the background as a subplot of them discovering it and sending kyle reese back. you can still have a main antaigonist (wow, cant spell) within the war like a new terminator that skynet is testing in small numbers before a wide producting of them.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I approve of this new direction (I know it doesn't matter what I think to the studio). We've waited three films for the franchise to get to the war and now we're going pre-Judgement again? I mean, it'd be one thing if it kind of did a cross-cutting thing between the past and the future with each thing in the past changing the course of the war in real time, but it sounds to me like McG's still trying to do his extended homage to Cameron's work. I like his style, but we really need to see something new.

Those 'Arnolds' are supposed to be Infiltrators. Wouldn't do them much good if there were a hundred naked ones running around, would it?
