| Just say no to time travel back to London. If they to a T5, they need to make significant progress towards the end of the war. Preferably, they'd leave us on a big cliffhanger at the end with both victory and defeat within sight, setting up a T6 as the finish to the franchise. Honestly, I don't think T:S was nearly as bad as it was made out to be. I think the biggest problem was that it was PG-13 instead of R like the first 3. If McG & the studio will return T5 to R, I think the rest will work itself out. "Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." - Sir Winston Churchill, October 1941 |

TheRiddlerKid said: I don't think it will green light a sequel, or if it does the budget will be significantly decreased. According to Wikipedia (that internet source that is never wrong) the budget was estimated to be 200 million, the total intake at the moment appears to be slightly over that mark which must be quite disappointing for the studios who probably saw this film as one of their tent poles.
IU can see what you are saying and agree, although I imagine the studio's will consider the current economic climate and it's impact on movie attendance. The only movie so far this year to break $400m is Angels and Demon's, and Wolverine, T4, Star Trek etc, may not quite manage to claw over that. Last summer, 10 movies (including the mummy 3) managed to top $400m worldwide.
The only certain money makers left are Transformers and Harry Potter, and possibly Avatar. A sequel may come when the box office picks up, or with a big chunk of the budget knocked off. Another Narnia movie is still moving ahead following the box office disappointment of Prince Caspian, and the movie industry was doing comparatively better than this year. My top movies of 2009
1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
2. Star Trek
3. District 9
4. Curious Case of Benjamin Button
5. Transformers 2
6. Terminator Salvation
7. Watchmen
8. This Is It
9. Inglorious Basterds
10. Bruno
11. Wolverine
12. Friday 13th
13. Monsters Vs Aliens
14. Angels and Demon's
15. Hannah Montana |
