Which to me, is interesting.
It used to be that the critics used to slam every sci-fi film and genre, even Star Wars, possibly because the prior generation of writers weren't sci-fi fans at all. In fact, sci-fi still struggles to be a legitimate Best Picture contender.
So, what's changed? Does this mean that the critics finally accepted sci-fi that (like this film) its simply whiz-bang action, meant only for the under 20 crowd?
But so, that's not a good thing, in fact, that's a bit of an insult from the critics.
Hopefully it just means that there are more opinions being voiced than in previous years. Or maybe they all just like JJ Abrams...
