Gotta disagree. Maybe if the prequels didn't exist, I might put that possibility into consideration, lol.

I cannot understand this whole SW vs. ST thing...

SW is not better than ST... It's just different.

Star Trek is a Sci-Fi franchise that deals essencially with science, philosophy and adventure, imagining possible scenarios of mankind dealing with the dangers and wonders of vast space.

Star Wars is a Space Fantasy franchise that deals essencially with destiny, methaphysics and morality, picturing the odyssey of having to face the choice of Good and Evil, and forces beyond understanding.

Being a huge Star Wars fan (prequels and originals as a whole), I like watching Star Trek, its Sci-Fi at its finest, epic and fun.

Both are and will be long remembered.

Just so everyone knows, I know this has been debated hundreds of times. I just thought the list was funny and that the Chewie section would be right up Longshot's alley.

I totally agree ! I just watched the original star trek today and it bored me. I really dont think you can mix the two other then them both having the title " star " on it. To me both films are two totally different films by far. I will give it a try by watching a few more star trek films but so far I am not impressed or understand the fan hype behind it. I had more fun watching galaxy quest and space balls lol

You mean The Motion Picture ? That's a bad first impression for trying to get into Trek. It's basically a bloated rip-off of a better episode from the TV show only the characters are given nothing interesting to do other than stare at the viewscreen at awe.

Original Trek films I recommend for newcomers:

The Wrath of Khan
The Search for Spock
The Voyage Home
The Undiscovered Country

Those are the films that take everything that worked best on the TV show and make it into feature events.

I love both, both had their awesome points and their utter crap. It's really all about what I'm in the mood for at the moment: Star Trek is when I'm feeling more adventurous, see a ton of crazy worlds with varying fun adventures and expeditions (trek after all), and Star Wars is just that, a bunch of wars in space, which is equally awesome in it's own way.

Just because they are both well loved sci-fi's doesn't really justify the comparisons, as they are totally different entities in my mind.

Star Trek started off as a TV show and has a different effect on the audiance and is always there on show. Star wars takes years before you get anything new from it. Star Trek has to be different from intellectual point of view and direction. You can not compare the Character developments of Star Trek with Star Wars. Star Trek is like a family and Star Wars is like train ride, eventually you have to get off the ride but with Star Trek you feel part of the family.
If Star Trek had more dynamic directions in the action it will attract people but then it would be just another sci-fi clone, it is it's own sci-fi show.

I think you have to be a little older to appreciate Star Trek, not everyone is into non stop action.

As for the Star Wars prequals I like them if not more in some aspects.

The only thing is missing from Star Trek is the art direction, vision and scope of scenary as it can seem a bit confined to one spaceship. Does not mean its bad just needs more eye candy.

StarWars could do with more precise acting skills here and there but gets away with it by not being too serious with it self although the prequals have tried to add extra dimentions to the dialog.

Since I'm here, which sci-fi universe is best or more realistic to you?

Talking only about movies, Starwars has a huge lead due the original movies, but this last star trek movie is easy as good as the original starwars, in modern times, and if the sequels just get better, soon the diference will be big.

I don't know if you're being entirely fair here Ice... Space Balls is a cinematic masterpiece on par with Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind LOL.

Agreed. I might add to watch First Contact too, as I feel that although the Original series is what started it all, its not fair to judge a series 40+ years running by only watching 4 movies of just one of five of the crews. (Yes I'm aware that only 2 different crews had movies, but Ive always believed whats great about trek is mixing old and new)

By the way, I dont mind star wars, star trek is infinitely richer and more in depth and has, in my opinion, way more enjoyable characters.

Trust me, nothing anyone says can actually 'hurt' a Trekkie as far as SW vs ST. They've heard it for years, so little videos like that aren't going to hurt anybody lol

Well done though, nice effects for a fan video. Though my confidence in the Death STar has greatly diminished considering it got blown up twice, once by a little tiny fighter and later by a whole squad of large ships.

Just saying....
