If word by mouth has any impact then yes go watch the latest Star Trek movie, it has many action elements and its not a short movie that feel incomplete, you do get your money's worth. I really want to see next part of this movie now want to see how it develops, it is visually more expansive with sci-fi back drops and we get to see Earth more unlike previous movies because we always wonder how future earth looks like but we never see it in the past Trek movies. Kirk is a young action character a kind of futuristic Tom Cruise mission impossible character of the future and we see how the director has used his pass knowledge to beef up the genre to bring Star Trek to a new generation.
Please watch this movie you won't regret it, it will give a new approach you always wanted from a Star Trek movie but never had.
