What in the world is the difference between a Trek-KIE and a Trek-KOR?

I had never heard this word before this past Friday, and I was having a conversation with someone, telling them that I was probably going to go see the movie that night, when she directed me to another of my coworkers.

As I said that although I wasn't a Trekkie, I still think this movie looks really good.

She said that our coworker wasn't a Trekkie either, and had identified herself as a TrekKOR. What is a Trekkor?

Trekkie or Trekker

To me it's just being pedantic. If you're into Star Trek you're a Trekkie, plain and simple.

What I always wondered was what's the Star Wars equivilent. Warsie just doesn't have the same ring to it.

If memory serves me correctly, the term Trekker was coined by those fans who were tired of being teased for being called Trekkies. Guess the newer fans thought a modern name would bring less teasing. I dunno, *shrug* it doesn't bother me to be called a Trekkie.

Chou_Zu, two terms that I know of for Star Wars fans are Warsies and Jedheads.

Its like people who refuse to say they read comics, they read "graphic novels". I have a mate like that, it annoys me so much. Its as if they're ashamed of what they're doing.

I like Jedhead, never heard of that

It's a form of P.C. Instead of calling someone a "Retard", you say they are "Mentally Challenged". They need to quit crying about it.

Anyone that into Trek IS a Trekkie.

Right, Trekker?

Ah. Gotcha. Thanks.

I suppose I'm neither then.

I don't go to conventions or wear pointy ears, (although I have donned mutton chops a few times ), but am a Trekkie with regards to TOS and TNG. DS9 was okay, but Captain Janeway's hair frightened me

This is how I always looked at it.

TOS - Trekkie
TNG - Trekker
DS9 - Niner

No name for fans of VOY and ENT, since there aren't any.

Well, as far as I'm gathering from the replies here, it's kind of like Siamese twins wanting to be called "Conjoined Twins." Cute for PC purposes, but will ultimately never happen in the mainstream.

I love names like these

I consider myself to be a;
True Believer (hardcore fan of Marvel comics),
Whovian (hardcore fan of Doctor Who),
Woody (hardcore fan of Torchwood).

So far as to my knowledge, they've yet to come up with names of other companies or individual characters;
What does everyone feel about the following?

"Spider-Fan" or "Slinger"
"Batfan"
or "Gothamite"
"Superfan"
or "Fan of Steel"
"X-Fan"
or "Alpha Class Mutant"
(Those are obvious as to what they mean)
Leaguer (Hardcore fan of DC comics)
Spartan (Hardcore Halo fan)
Headmaster (Hardcore Transformers fan)

Any suggestions?

I don't label myself any of those above, but I've always liked the series and movies, and am generally a sci-fi fan.

Which means that anything that's well done in Sci-fi, I tend to be a fan of. Star Wars and Star Trek both have commendable creativity, and uniqueness.

They are the two movie/TV series that have done the most to legitimize sci-fi as a marketable product. A lot of sci-fi owes their very existence to these two, the same way the fantasy genre owes a lot of its existence to Tolkien.

What do I like about it?

That's another thread in itself.
