Two weeks ago Dimension Films made this major announcement where they revealed plans for 18 direct-to-disc sequels for release in 2009. Something interesting that was announced was that following a theatrical release of HALLOWEEN II - the sequel to Rob Zombie's re-envisioning of Michael Myers' tale of terror created by John Carpenter - the plan is to release direct-to-disc sequels to the newly rebooted franchise. This might not be the case, read on for the skinny.

Bloody-Disgusting's BC is on hand at this weekend's Halloween: 30 Years of Terror convention in Pasadena, CA where HALLOWEEN Producer Malek Akkad, son of Moustapha Akkad, revealed to attendees that any-and-all sequels will be theatrically released, contrary to initial reports.

It was also revealed that the sequel will begin directly after Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN and that Tyler Mane will return as Michael.

More on this as it comes in. What do you guys think? Would you rather see loads of direct-to-disc sequels or a few big budget sequels every five years? I personally will take anything that's good.

Personally I didnt like Rob zombie's "reinvision" (REMAKE) of Halloween. He took everything out that made the original Halloween one of the best horror movies ever, and made it into a trashy, corny, gorefest. I pretend that movie never happened for the most part.

Nothing agianst Zombie, but he should have never f^ckin touched this film.

It's funny, when I saw the remake, I felt like a kid who just scraped his knee, afterwards I rented the Original, got home and watched it. It felt like I put some anti-bacteria lotion and a band-aid on it, "Aah Better."

They should just make a crapload of sequels straight to dvd, because I'm not going to spend money to see this in the theater, I probably won't even rent it. I know some people who will just rent the dvd to get a good laugh and then spit on it after.

i actually thought his remake was awesome. they should probably just release direct-to-dvd since no one will go watch them in the theatres.

The remake was good & I think the next one should be released in theatres , I also believe Rob Zombie wont be involed in the sequel - although I liked the remake I'm also glad someone else will take over & make something everyone is happy with . Also 18 direct to dvd sequels is far to many in 1 year they should spread trhem out over 2 or 3 years otherwise you'll get a pile of SH*T sequels done on the cheap .
