November 24, 2001 — Adding on to the previous news just reported yesterday that the sequel to the great film "The Goonies" will be titled just that (not "The Goonies 2") and the original Goonies (with the expection of a few) will join a cast of all new kids, Richard Donner has a bit more to say on progress:
"Well, we did a Goonies DVD. We got them all to come back to town. They've all become very sophisticated...older. But as they started to talk, they evolved back to the Goonies, it was a whole bunch of crazy kids. It was great," Donner says. "There's new Goonies plus the old Goonies. They show up to screw everything up again", laughs Donner.
And what about a "Leathal Weapon 5" can we expect to see a fifth installment soon?
Although Donner rules out a "Lethal Weapon 5," he doesn't rule out working with Mel Gibson again. Donner's pet project is touched upon too "My dream project is my Western that Brian Helgeland wrote for me. It'll be my picture after next. It's called Lonesome. It's very special. It has an incredible character in it that drives it and is unique".
"There's another wonderful script AMG gave me; it's something I've been looking for since 1976--the Omen in the new millennium, an edge-of-your-seat kind of piece", he explains.
