Unfortunately I couldn't fit the actual story in the headline because it is a corker. Apparently there's a chance that the dinosaurs in JURASSIC PARK 4 may be - and I swear this is the rumor - kitted out with weapons by the US government. I'll give you a moment to return your face from 'what the f*ck?' to normal.

Back? Okay, so yes, that's the rumor. Is there a chance this will be good? Well I enjoyed DINO-RIDERS as much as the next guy so I'll give the thing a shot, even if the rumor does turn out to be true. Surprisingly, there actually is some 'good news' in this story; there was originally word that one of the ideas for this movie might revolve around a group of soldiers that were genetically crossed humans and dinosaurs. And dinosaurs with guns is better than that, right? Plus, William Monahan is co-writing the script and he's probably one of the best writers in Hollywood right now. In other news, Laura Dern is alleged to have confirmed her involvement and the sequel to CONGO will feature killer apes schooled in the art of the nunchuck.

Eh. I think they should stick to a formula that works and leave the animal/human splicing to movies like The Fly and The Island of Dr. Moraue (spelling?)

Ummm...

I'm not entirely sure that Jurassic Park IV has Stephen Speilburg attatched to it.

Don't know what kitted means and i'm too lazy to find out so in search for a clearer meaning I went to the site that posted it first (bloody disgusting).

dinosaurs carrying weapons? what? Sounds wierd to me. I don't believe it. Maybe it's a joke or something.

Spielberg said very proudly shortly before the release of JP3 here in switzerland in a magazine interview that he had a "great idea" for JP4

Ye mean they both have a shiny appearance (the JP-franchise/the porcelain) and share the same content?

I'm really sorry, but I'd much rather have another JP than all those together ... besides, JP needn't be killed for any of those

I was kinda a joke. While i wouldn't mind a Dino Crisis or A Turok movie and i couldn't care less about Dino-Riders. Still it beter to make a Dino-Riders movie than to make JP4 has a Dino-Riders rip-off.

really i think there should be a group of teenagers that get stuck on the island and a rescue team has to save them. you know the classic stuff. but come genetic dinosaurs? what the ****? if they do that then the saga of jurassic park will be mocked and laughed at just like jaws 3-5 or star wars episode 6. they would just ruin the saga. like that whole raptor talking thing pissed me off.

I've got a "great idea" for the next Transformers' film, but that doesn't mean I'm attatched to it.

Has there been any actual news that you could direct us to saying that Spielburg has something to do with it?

Come on guys, this is obviously a joke.

Spielberg himself said he had an idea that could turn out better than the origional JP.

You actually think one of the most skillfull and acclaimed men in Hollywood would risk his reputation by introducing something outside the winning formula?

Someone made this up as a joke hoax, TRUST ME.

uhm ... only like every little bit of REAL news we've had thus far?

want a little summary? here ye go:

In June 2002, director Steven Spielberg told Starlog magazine that he planned to produce Jurassic Park IV, and director Joe Johnston, who helmed Jurassic Park III, would direct it. In November 2002, screenwriter William Monahan was hired to write, with the film's release slated for summer 2005. In July 2003, Monahan completed the first draft, with the story no longer set in the jungle. Actor Sam Neill said he was returning as Dr. Alan Grant, with filming expected to begin in 2004 in California and Hawaii. In September 2004, screenwriter John Sayles was re-writing the script, with the film re-slated for a winter 2005 release. His second draft focused on the new character Nick Harris, who returns to Isla Nublar, the location of the first film, and retrieves Dennis Nedry's can of DNA. He is captured by the Grendel corporation, which now owns InGen, and he is hired to train five genetically modified Deinonychus as mercenaries.

In October 2004, paleontologist Jack Horner said he would return as technical adviser for the fourth film as he had done for previous Jurassic Park films. By April 2005, special effects artist Stan Winston explained that the delay in production was due to repeated revisions of the film's script, none of which satisfied Spielberg. According to Winston, "He felt neither of [the drafts] balanced the science and adventure elements effectively. It's a tough compromise to reach, as too much science will make the movie too talky, but too much adventure will make it seem hollow." In February 2006, producer Frank Marshall said the script was done, and filming would begin in 2007 for a 2008 release. In March 2007, Sam Neill said he was not asked to reprise his role as Dr. Alan Grant, while Laura Dern was asked to return for the new film, which Universal still wanted to release by 2008. Director Joe Johnston was also reported not to be directing the film.
