Considering the amount of scrutiny my "Mega Raptor" post received, I decided to start this new one. How do you think raptors will be used in the film? They have served large roles in the previous 3, how about now?

i hope that they will make a point in the movie to correctly identify the raptors.

In all 3 moves, they incorrectly called the raptors "Velociraptors", which are actlually only 3 feet tall.

The raptors in the movies are actually closer to the size of Utahraptors.

The thing that happened is, Velociraptor sounds better than Utahraptor, so they just gave the big raptor the little raptors name

They have actually found Velociraptors that match the size of those in the film.

No, they found Raptors, not Velociraptors, the huge raptors of JP are called Utahraptors as they were cloest in size...

Oh come on! they've called em "velociraptors" for three movies now, how stupid would it be if they all of a sudden called em "utahraptors"? It'd just be a major break in continuity, the movie wouldn't benefit a bit of it. After all it's a movie intendet to entertain, it ain't an article in the science-magazine

considering how they were used in jp3, i wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of raptors sitting around a log playing cards, like that famous painting of card-playing dogs playing...

Raptor 1: I say George, do you have a seven...

Raptor 2: No Jeffery, go fish

Raptor 3: When are more people coming, I'm hungry.

Raptor 1: Oh Bernard, you and your human eating....

All raptors laugh like pompous "high-class" socialists.

Wow, you peeps are ignorant. The "Velociraptor" was created by Micheal Crichton was an imaginary raptor, to fit the dramatic needs of the book, Jurrasic Park. It was a sort of a hybrid of other raptors. Not long after the film was released, another raptor similar to the ones in Jurrasic Park except for the size were found by paleontologists, who named these raptors after Crichton's Velociraptors. Accoringly, they SHOULD continue, because the raptors in the books and movies are in fact fictional, therefore they can be named what they want.

Nope, you are wrong.

The Velociraptor was discovered in 1922, long before Crichton was even around, and is the size of a large chicken. Thats why they hunted in packs, strength in numbers. they were around 2 feet tall

When the first movie was made they decided to make the velociraptor bigger then humans because the only thing scarier then a velociraptor is something much bigger that can move as quickly and hunt in packs. It would also cause tenson for those watching the movie. Seems scarier.(ie. they hollywoodized the velociraptor)

They had no idea at the time that they turned the velociraptor into the Utah Raptor until about a month before they released the movie. What happened? It was an extreme stroke of luck for the movie when paleantologist unearthed the fossils of the Utahraptor in 1993(same year as the release of Jurassic Park ) . They had no idea that raptors could be that big.

So the movie lucked out and kept a foot on realism. I mean how lucky can you get?! A month before the movie comes out, something that was in the movie but didn't exist as far as anyone knew was discovered to actually have been in existence at one time.

If you are going to accuse people of being ignorant or wrong at least research before you claim to be right. I just went on wikipedia do prove you wrong and it only took 5 minutes. Just click the links and you'll see. LOL "The "Velociraptor" was created by Micheal Crichton was an imaginary raptor, to fit the dramatic needs of the book, Jurrasic Park" LOL. Thats a good one LOL

In Fact here is what it says about Velociraptors and Jurassic Park.

Pop Culture

Velociraptor is well-known in its role as a vicious and cunning killer, from the 1990 novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, and its 1993 film adaptation, directed by Steven Spielberg. The "raptors" portrayed in Jurassic Park were modelled after a slightly larger relative, Deinonychus, which some scientists at the time called Velociraptor antirrhopus.[17] The paleontologists in the film and the novel excavate a Velociraptor skeleton in Montana, where Deinonychus fossils would be found, far from the central Asian range of Velociraptor. A character in Crichton's novel also states that "...Deinonychus is now considered one of the velociraptors", indicating that Crichton used this taxonomy, though the "raptors" in the novel are referred to as V. mongoliensis.[27]

The Velociraptor depicted in the Jurassic Park films were scientifically inaccurate in numerous ways. One major discrepancy, possibly explained by the fact that Deinonychus was used as a model, is that the size of the Velociraptor in the film was much greater than their diminutive real-world counterparts. The size of the film's Velociraptor may also have been increased for dramatic reasons by director Steven Spielberg.[28] The film versions of Velociraptor were also covered in scales. No evidence of body scales has been reported for any maniraptoran dinosaur and it is more likely that they were covered in feathers, though no direct fossil evidence of integument of any kind exists for Velociraptor itself. Jurassic Park III does depict a type of feathers on its Velociraptor, quill-like structures along the back of the head and neck, although these do not resemble the down-like feathers known from real-life dromaeosaurids. Additionally, the forelimbs of the film animals did not closely resemble those of real dromaeosaurids and their tails were too short and flexible, anatomical errors which directly contradict fossil evidence. In the sequel film Jurassic Park III, one character states that Velociraptor were smarter than dolphins, whales and primates. Based on fossil evidence, this is highly unlikely, and it is more probable that, while intelligent by dinosaur standards, they were less intelligent than modern big cats.[29] In fact, the hunting style exhibited in the films was so intelligent that it would have been able to wipe out its food species extremely quickly, resulting in starvation.
