January 23, 2003 — Hero missed the Golden Globe Award for the Best Foreign Language Films yesterday in Beverly Hills. But its producer says their confidence of being the Oscar winner never fades. One of the two nominated Chinese films in the best foreign language films section, Zhang Yimou's latest film Hero, with all its good reputations in China, had never been expected to let its fans down. Hero has reaped 220 million yuan(US$26 million) only in a month's time during its first round of premiere in China. Many local viewers became its devoted fans for the beautiful pictures. They have taken it for granted that Hero will garner several foreign film awards in the new year for a long time, until they tasted their disappointments recently. More at the link
