July 14, 2003 — (Thanks to Rachel for translating) Last Take for the New Filming of "Around the World in 80 Days" The last take, please, for the new filming of the Jules Vernes classic "Around the World in 80 Days" is on Friday (07/12/2003). The filming work for the 100 million euro expensive film took more than 22 weeks, how the studio communicated Babelsberg Motion Pictures as Koproduzent on Saturday in Potsdam. They filmed, after the start in Thailand, also in Berlin, Brandenburg and Goerlitz. One of the main roles is played by action star Jackie Chan. The director is Franc Coraci ("The Wedding Singer"). The film will be coming next year to the cinemas. The filming work took place occasionally in the most prominent places of Berlin and Potsdam: The Gendarmenmarket was transformed at the beginning of May into London at the turn of the century, the cathedral in the cinema will be the Bank of England. At the Gendarmenmarket begins and ends the adventure of Gentleman Phileas Fogg (Steve Coogan) and his resourceful servant Passepartout (Jackie Chan). Also Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger ("The Terminator") participated in the filming work in Potsdam Sanssouci. He played the guest role of Turkish Prince Hapi in the adventure film. In an addition in the Orangerie a Turkish palace was established, which Schwarzenegger alias Hapi inhabited.
