Jackie Chan donates HK$500,000 for SARS relief

May 14, 2003 — (Thanks to JF and Pete) HK News is reporting that Jackie Chan has donated $500,000 HKD (about $65,000US) to SARS relief. There will be a celebrity charity concert 1:99 Musical Event on May 24th, with tickets going on sale to the public on Thursday May 15. Ticket prices will be $1,000HK (about $130US) $400 (about $52US) and $250 (about $32US) Though Jackie cant be there in person for the concertbecause he is in Berlin filming Around the World in 80 Days, he and other busy entertainers such as Anita Mui taped video messages to support Hong Kong. Another related article says many notable film makers in HK are planning to make a series of short films to buoy the spirits of the people. The project is called The 1:99 Film Act Wong Kar Wai (in the Mood for Love) is planning to do a short with Jackie Chan-- due out either June or July 15th. Stephen Chow will do one starring himself, Michael Hui (Mr. Boo), Jeff Lau, amongst others. The HK government will be releasing the films to TV stations.
