A real-life disaster is Disney's Around the World in 80 Days, which managed to make only $6.8 million from 2,801 theaters for a five-day total of $9.6 million. The Jackie Chan adventure film carried a budget of about $110 million.
That's a shame. Everyone I talked to who saw it really enjoyed it for what it is..a great family movie. I think too many critics expected it to be more like the 56 original. Every bad review I read seemed to come from fans of the original.
