August 6, 2003 — Mr. and Mrs. Smith was going to be the project that Brad Pitt would do between the currently-in-production Troy and Oceans Twelve next spring. However, his anticipated co-star, Nicole Kidman, dropped out from the project last month. Getting picky, Pitt would only approve certain replacements to take the role of Mrs. Smith -- including Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angelina Jolie -- but ultimately, it hasn't worked out well.
Variety reports today that Pitt has dropped out of the Doug Liman film about a married couple of assassins whose next hits are each other. The start day for filming was going to be September 1st, but without even Pitt attached to the project any longer, it doesn't seem likely Mr. and Mrs. Smith will be starting production any time soon. |
