Nope it wouldn't have worked. If he did it right away then maybe, but he waited too long so he would have turned. If you get bitten and then cut off your arm in under like a minute or even less then maybe, but he waited too long.

Yeah I agree but he could have went out with more style! Maybe like infiltrate thousands of the zombies up the street a little and kill all round instead of looking at the sun then shoot himself!

No it was a good movie even though it fell well short of Romeros classic.

Easier said than done man!
Remember,he was bitten in the armoured buses escape scene as Ana salvaged the boat keys from that balloonhead played by Ty Burrel.By the time they had reached the marina ,the infection would have soon set into his blood stream,so he was finished anyway!
Even if he had cut his arm off ,he'd have probably died of the shock and trauma of having his arm amputated
Me,I'd save 1 round for myself,then waste as many of the undead b***tards as possible.
Look at C.J !Now there was a man with balls!Stood his ground so his pals could escape ,then blew himself up with as many zombies he could take with him!
