I think that the aging of its core audience will affect how this film is viewed.
It's also likely that they've been watching what films were successful in the last few years, and trying to tweak the series to appeal to certain age groups.
I also thought this director made #5 the most forgettable of the films, so we'll see hat he does with this one.
Fortunately, HBP is also a better book, IMHO, than 5. More options to action for those that have to have it be like a superhero film, and the first leg of the real quest, etc.
We'll see.
5th was def. my least favorite book, i remember being so excited for it to come out after going through the first 4 and being taken aback at how Harry's attitude changed so drastically, just didn't seem like the same guy for large parts of the book 2005 HP awards Wizard of the Year!!

For me, as a parent, with a third person view, that was one of the things that seemed fairly realistic about the 15-year change. LOL but I agree with you.
Other than that, it suffered from the classic "mid-series" doldrums where you have a lot to set up for later books, so it requires a lot of extra narrative. That taken, it could have been a much better movie.
In these last three films, the element of surprise is going to be hard to create, since everybody knows the story. You can't mess with the storyline, as later events are now very dependent upon earlier ones already established.
