OK, so we now know that the movie has some significant changes from the book:

1. No Dumbledore Funeral (although it was filmed)
2. No "Battle" at Hogwarts (tower sequence?)
3. No Rufus Scrimgeour character scenes (still mentioned?)

They're also going to have to do something more with Kreacher and Dobby as a set up for Film 7.1 and 7.2, but nothing has been heard of what is going on with those, at least not from the articles I've read.

Thoughts?

As crap as it may be, they may find a way around not using Dobby, which would cause an outrage, but that's Hollywood.

Which leads to many other problems for the Book 7 movies: How to explain certain activities where characters have never been seen, or much talked about. Maybe they'll just say that Fudge got killed by the Death Eaters instead of Scrimgeour...

hollywood's incompetence is astounding. the only way a movie turns out to be great is if the director loves the movie himself. The harrypotter movies have been very unstable with effects and uniforms.
The 5th movie was shorter than the 4th, it should have been at least 2.5 hours long; but realistically movies 4-7 should be at least 3 hours long so the films don't feel rushed.
the scenes for HBP seem much better than the OOTP, however i don't know if anyone has noticed but the movie is rated PG!!! This greatly worries me and i am sure semprasectum wont be used with this kind of raiting.

i know i hate it that its PG. why would they go back to that rating? each film gets progressively darker and more adult in content and they decide to make it lighter?!? that makes me mad!

You'd be surprised how much they can put into a PG rating, but we've known that it would be PG for a while.

You have to remember that the audiences for this can be quite young. (depends on the level of parents concern)

The need for thrills is a common thing. I don't think you need to worry about the rating too much.

I hope not but even with the PG-13 the fourth and fifth movies made quite a bit of money if thats what the film makers are worried about.

Don't we know that there is a battle at Hogwarts? It looks like it from the trailers and teasers that I've seen at the movies. Bellatrix is breaking things again, and the Grayback wolvieman seems to be in it.

Yes, that's in to some degree.

The Burrow being attacked is earlier in the film, which seems to have been added.

Well about "Harry Potter" being a kids book, i find that a bit of a joke when reading the later books. When you go to the movie/book store, you find "Harry Potter" in the kids section and it looks so out of place! The books and movies look so much darker than the rest of the "light and fluffy" books and movies that it is categorized with.
America tends to change certain multimedia to target children; anime would be a prime example besides Harry Potter.

Semprasectum is a violent dark curse that is not something that children should read or see in movies, which is one of the reasons why the later books are not for children. Obviously you are all correct that fox is targeting children and so i beileve this curse will not be used in the movies, even though it becomes one of Harry's favorite curses.

As for Bellatrix trashing things at Hogwarts, I do not remember her being there at all! Greyback was definitely there and this will be the first time we meet him.
The burrow was never attacked in the 6th book because it was too heavily guarded by the ministry; I cannot see why "they" would put that into the movie!

Good point. I'm sure it's artistic license to increase the amount of action in the movie to up the ante that other film genres have -- unfortunately -- placed upon HP.

They are also hyping the romances in HP6 inresponse to the wave of vampire mania.

yes i knew "they" would increase the romance because that is what people love to see; the whole vampire mania thing is definitely a good reason as well. Maybe this would be a good time for a new Buffy series
In any case the 6th book does have a good amount of romance in it, a lot more than the other books, so I think it will be interesting to see romance in a Harry Potter film.
As for the action most movies that have action in them these days have too much. It is not necessary to over load a movie with action to make it great. Adding more action in a movie is not a bad idea in some cases, but to put action where it should'nt be is just plain stupid.

Agree with you. The trouble with HP action is that itgets deadly really fast.
