am i reading this right?

Perhaps Harry Potter should change his name from the Boy Who Lived to the Boy Who Won't Die. Despite the release last year of The Deathly Hallows, the final novel in the series, author J.K. Rowling has resurrected Harry once more. The writer has penned an 800-word prequel, expanding the Potter lore pre-Hogwarts for an English charity auction on June 10. The plot remains under lock and key, but fans shouldn't get their hopes up that Rowling is secretly planning an extended version that might make it onto the big screen: Her final line of the wee missive is: "From the prequel I am not working on but that was fun!" In other "We're just wild about Harry!" news, actress Nat Tana who plays witchy woman Tonks in the penultimate Potter film, Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, out on Nov. 21 let it slip at the Florida SuperCon that the funeral of the Major Character that bites the dust in Prince won't make it onto the screen. Her response after the loose lip was a flurry of curses and "I'm not allowed to tell you that!" but she happily revealed that the romance between Tonks and sometime werewolf Remus Lupin (David Thewlis) has some serious sparks." Would they hold hands? No, I don't think they would hold hands, "said Tana. "They'd just be near each other and be cool, and then run off to have naughty sex." PS Skatz

No funeral scene? Well I guess the death of a major character isn't that big of a deal. Hell, why not just cut out the death all together? Who would notice that right?

Jeez....

alright this is some serious bullcrap. how can they leave out
dumbledore's
funeral? that's a major turning point for the characters and it's also where
Harry realizes he can't be with Ginny and he breaks up with her. also it's where Ron and Hermione tell Harry they wll follow him on this journey.
.

David Yates did a poor job with OotP, now it looks like he'll be doing the same with HBP. It's such a shame he's directing DH too. The books actually get better towards the end of the series, too bad the movies will do the opposite.

Great news on more writing from Jo though! Hopefully it'll be made available to the public this time unlike The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Forgive me, but what in the world are you on about? I'm absolutely positive that the film will be fine without the funeral; they'll probably just have a scene after
dumbledore's
death where harry decides not to go back to hogwarts and the split with ginny will probably be ignored, well, that's my opinion.

maybe I'm wrong; let us not jump to conclusions, maybe the funeral scene is not as integral as you think. Anyway, who needs to see
fawkes
shoot off, the only thing might be that you won't see
dumbledores brother
until the next film.

what will we really miss? what value does a funeral scene actually hold? We'll know he's dead, that's really all that matters, surely?

It's odd that they wouldn't put something onto the screen, unless they just show a scene with no lines, and people gathered around. Or perhaps they'll do something like that in the Great Hall.

It's probably been cut for pacing and time.

I think that particular scene I won't really miss if they cut it out.

All the important things from the scene can be rewritten differently.

Anyway, I'm not as giddy about this one as I was about the last couple, considering how badly they screwed us with the fifth installment.

That was just one in comparison to four others. Considering that this is a shorter and smoother story, more like Goblet of Fire, I think it could do very well. Yates has what it takes, I'm sure of that.

The funeral is important, but I think that it can be shown other ways. There's all kinds of "Harry thinking about the funeral as he goes home"...sorts of ways that don't take up screen time or kill the pacing of the film.

if they do it right, they dont have to show the actual funeral for the viewer to feel the impact it has on the characters, im sure it will end with them talking and setting up the transition for the 7th film

Im just hoping they show something of it. One of the things about Harry is that most of the people at Hogwarts don't know the friendship he had, or what Dumbledore wanted him to do. It's all a big secret except for the trio. So, a big weepy funeral scene won't make sense. It's good for a background scene of some kind.
