According to Post Chronicle, a representative for J.K. Rowling has confirmed there is a possibility the British author may write an eighth installment in the "Harry Potter" series.

Christopher Little said Rowling had "retained all the rights in the 'Harry Potter' series," including any companion books "which she may indeed write herself."

The book would cover "historical" figures, including the founders of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, and present elaborate genealogies of the main characters.

Pretty sweet news, but i cant see it as another story other than a prequal. Besides its pretty obvious that harry and voldemort will die in book7.

People seem to forget that this is still a children's book, i just don't see J.K. killing off the main character, to me that just would not make any sense, but of course i have been wrong many times before, i just don't think it would be right. But we shall see very soon! LOL! Later all.

I don't know about killing off main characters either. It would seem that then she'd have to do endless rounds of interviews to justify it all to legions of fans and parents.

In either case, I expected that there is a lot of background material (pre-history, like it says) that she might as well write several volumes for.

It's not an 8th novel , that I really doubt.

I highly doubt Harry Potter will die. Now I can see someone like Ron dying, trying to save Hermoine (don't even expect that to be spelled correctly).

Harry won't die. At least, not if Rowling has a brain in her head. Harry Potter has made her the richest person in all of England.

If she does write an eighth book, it'd either be something like "Hogwarts: A History" or some othere book dealing with the background. I can't see her actually continuing the adventures of Harry, since she's said numerous times over the past ten yeas that she wouldn't be doing something like that.
