Here's a thought--in the books Hermoine is CONSTANTLY telling Harry and Ron that you can't apparate or disapparate to of from Hogwarts and that intruders can't just sneak in. So is it really possible for the Triwizard cup to have been a portkey? If that were the case then anyone could transport themselves onto the grounds. And if portkeys are allowed, then how come no one ever thinks of that when they are trying to figure out what happened to this person and that person when they appear or disappear?

Well, if you wanna to use a portkey it's suppose to be authorized so if its not the person can probably use a portkey to get into Hogwarts, but most likely the ministry would know about it shortly after the person did it & I think they would most likely get in trouble for it. Like in the Order of the Phoenix Dumbledore used a portkey to get Harry & the Weasley's to Sirius' house.

"The time is long gone when I could frighten you with a burning wardrobe & force you to make repayment for your crimes. But I wish I could, Tom . . . I wish I could." - Dumbledore

"Billy Stubbis' rabbit . . . well, Tom said he didn't do it & I don't see how he could have done, but even so, it didn't hang itself fromt he rafters did it?" - Mrs. Cole, Head of Tom's Orphanage

I've never actually thought of that before. But I don't doubt there being ways of getting around things like that, if you're good enough...
