I really hope he does come back to do a whole new soundtrack. Of course he would still use his main themes, but I missed him in the fourth movie. Don't get me wrong, Patrick Doyle did an excellent job for the Goblet of Fire. But it would be great to have John back. I just think he did an outstanding job for the first three movies and even though the films will get darker, he can conduct a wonderful darker score to suit it.

Everyone remembers the Jaws theme don't they???

Will it be David Yates' (new director) decision for whom to choose?

I think Patrick set a really high standard with this... he should continue being the composer because his music is a little darker.... i dont think WIlliams would have the ability to do it... it would still sound kiddy

John Williams won't have the ability to do it. Come on. Have you heard Revenge of the Sith's soundtrack??? It was extremely dark!!! It was also very sad which i think would be suitable for this movie
due to the fact that Sirius Black dies
!!!

I think he would be able to pull it off! But that is my own opinion.

i agree with bryan on this one. John did great for the first 3, but the series went much darker in the 4th. i think that patrick should stay for the rest of the series, because his style suited the darkness perfectly.

I have to admit that I liked Patrick Doyle's score better than John William's.

I'm no soundtrack buff, but I have to say that Patrick Doyle's score lacked an overall memorable theme for the movie. Hedwig's theme was not used much.

johns style is themes. i think it is unfair to say that patrick lacked themes, becase you dont know how he will approach the next movie, if he does it

I liked John Williams better. Don't get me wrong, Patrick was great too, but come on, this is the guy who did the star wars score! Who knows, maybe the new director can let them both do it, or maybe get another new musician, like Danny Elfman, he's great too. But I don't know if he can pull it off, he does different stuff.
Anyway, I think they're both capable of doing the next film's score

I agree with you bunrz, but I really found the first three to have more of a harry potter "feeling" to them.

On the other hand, i just hope they stick with either John or Patrick. Even both of them would be koool! LOL

What about Howard Shore ? LOTR's score is fantastic. It's better than the HP movies score, I think.

I don't know if John Williams does to work on soundtrack on 5th film. I have no idea. It up to Producer decide and also Director too. Don't worry, they knew it.

this is the problem with well known composers. John Williams became famous for Star Wars. we all know Howard Shore from LOTR. I think that it was good to get a composer in that was not a part of any epic movies, such as SW, or LOTR. when i listen to the HP soundtracks, i keep hearing star wars, because john has pulled over his themes. not that its a bad thing, but its HP not SW. if howard shore did HP, im sure we would hear some hint of LOTR, because it is based in the fantasy type rhelm.

That is very true. Some of the composers mix their previous themes into their new ones. But I just love the way John Williams brought the music to life for the first three HP films. I believe they fit very well together.

If not any of the mentioned composers, who would they get to do the fifth movie. I can't think of anyone suitable. Danny Elfman perhaps? And would the new composer live up to the standards made by John and Patrick?

I haaven't seen any LOTRS movies yet(I'm reading the books first) so I can't say anything about the score for those movies, but Danny Elfman was great with the Spiderman score and John Williams is amazing with the first three HP movies and the star wars movies(in my opinion his best songs were in episode three, he had two new songs which were incrdible, or maybe it was three?)

That is very true. John Williams had a very well done soundtrack for Star Wars: Episode 3!!! Ummm...lets see, the new main song was Battle of the Heros, Anakin's Betrayal and perhaps The Immolation Scene . These were done extremely well and another song that portrayed that John can make dark and scary music was Anakin's Dark Deeds . In my opinion, I believe he is the best and most successful composer of all time.

The Spiderman soundtracks were really well done. But I have a feeling if Danny Elfman is chosen or even someone else, it might be difficult for them to stay "true" to the first four movies and they might just not have the "touch" to make it feel like a magical movie...which is the main point!

And by the way...please read the books faster and watch all three of the LOTR movies. You're missing out!!!! HURRY!!!
