If you're going to compare CON to HP, then compare it with HP I. CON is the first film in the series (but the second book of the series, if I'm not mistaken). Characters need to be introduced, Narnia has to be discovered,... This is not the case with HP IV. There's no need for introductions, we already know most of what is there. I'm not saying it's like this for everyone, but whenever I watch HP and the Philosopher's Stone, I'm thinking "oh, get on with it, go to Hogwarts already!"
I haven't seen CON yet (comes out on Dec. 21st in Belgium), but I'm really excited. I'm sure it'll live up to my expectations.
That's just my opinion though.
Long live the Phoenix! Long live Famke Janssen!

My favourite was the chronicles of narnia, i loved that film so much more than HP IV
Lord of the rings has nothing on this new fantasy film, when i went to see this new film, boy i have never seen a cinema so full, boy was it worth it, great film, and it could have gone on longer in my opinion, and if you think that films long, go see king kong at over 180 minutes, thats long.
But titanic was longer than that and it was a naff film in my opinion. But these films are two different types, harry potter - a supposable thriller and the chronicles of narnia a fantasy, a fantastic fantasy film, good acting overall. And (luckliy) they played down the supposeable religious content, which is good cos otherwise in this modern age it probably wouldn't have gone down well over here.
CON 10/10
HP IV 5/10
But thats my opinion
I'll just have to read the books for the chronicles of narnia Rule Britannia yeah! lol |

No, LLW is the first book in the series. Chronilogically, yes it did come later, but since their not filming them that way and are thus preserving the mystery present when the books were first written, LLW does come first. If I weare a jet pilot, every time I was halfway through the flight, I'd do a nose-dive

I don't understand what you're saying. The Magician's Nephew is the first book, LLW is the second.
Chronologically yes, but not the original publication order.
Chronologically they go:
1. The Magicians Nephew
2. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
3. The Horse and His Boy
4. Prince Caspian
5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
6. The Silver Chair
7. The Last Battle
But publication order is:
1. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950)
2. Prince Caspian(1951)
3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1952)
4. The Silver Chair (1953)
5. The Horse and His Boy (1954)
6. The Magicians Nephew(1955)
7. The Last Battle (1956)
But why is that, huh ? Isn't it kinda stupid not to release them chronologically ?
It's to create a sense of mystery and intrigue and to keep people coming back. If they knew everything already, it's less likely they'd go see/read the next one. By your logic, JK Rowling should have written Voldemort's rise for the first book, Dumbledore hearing the prophecy and Harry's birth and his parents death for the second, then the trials sshowing Peter's betrayal and Sirius getting shipped to Azkaban, and then Harry getting dropped off, at which point we pick up the story. It's the same basic principle -- lacck of immediate answers creates increased interest. If I weare a jet pilot, every time I was halfway through the flight, I'd do a nose-dive

Also, the main events as it were in the Chronicles happen in LWW, Caspian, and Dawn Treader (and to an extent TSC). These are the ones that include the Pevensies and see their main adventures in Narnia as they take place in order.
The movies are following these three first as the same actors can play the kids throughout. In Horse and His Boy they're already adults, so it wouldn't make sense to make that before Caspian and Dawn Treader.
And also, as a movie, Magician's Nephew wouldn't really work being the first. They really need to establish Narnia in the other movies before showing it's creation, because really that's all that book was about. It's like, no one really would be wise to read the Silmarillion before Lord of the Rings, you'd just get lost. You need LotR as a basis before going back and looking at the Sil. As a book, Magician's Nephew is fine being the first because you can wiz through it in less than a day, but being the opening movie wouldn't have worked imo. "Surprised to see your old nemesis, Optimus Primal? I believe we have some catching up to do. A few memory gaps to fill. Let's start with the Beast Wars. They are over. You lost."

Don't forget about the last battle. That has Edmund and Peter and Lucy in it...and as adults too, I believe. If I weare a jet pilot, every time I was halfway through the flight, I'd do a nose-dive
