February 8, 2003 — Apparently, Renee Zellweger, who starred as Bridget Jones in 2001's Bridget Jones's Diary, has not in fact agreed to star in the sequel, Bridget Jones Diary: Edge of Reason, according to the BBC News.
"Bridget Jones" author Helen Fielding's follow-up novel, "Edge of Reason," was the subject of sequel rumors and speculation over Zellweger's return.
Zellweger said that there was nothing to commit to when it came to another film. "Neither of us has seen scripts, neither of us has a start date and neither of us has committed because there is nothing to commit to."
Despite the uncertainty over another sequel, Zellweger said she would enjoy taking up the role again. "I would love to do it if it's right," she added. "Bridget is a character I care a lot about."
