This could make a great movie, if it's done well. Your entitled to your opinion Kurt. But your opinion doesn't mean beans to me, nor will it have any actual sway about what movies get made and what movies don't. Marvel (the creators) sold the movie rights for Namor to a studio (the film makers) because they would like to see a movie about it. The film makers want to make a movie about Namor, because they think it will make a good movie. I am in firm agreement with both the studios and Marvel. In other words, they agree with me as well. So I say it could be good, Marvel says it could be good, and the movie makers say it could be good. They all agree with me. Who agrees with you? Frigging Longshot??! HA! SO WHAT! . I am a real Marvel fan. I applaud the fact they are making films about all these different characters. This movie will be made. So will Elektra, Werewolf by Night, Silver Surfer, Punisher, maybe even Iron Fist. Despite the sceptisism of all the lousy nay sayers. So get mad all you want, kid. lol It just makes it even more fun. |

NO, I totally disagree that it will be a hard sell because it is set underwater. For one thing, I believe that David Self, who is penning this project, will be able to bring into the mix the fact that Namor spends lots of time living among us surface dwellers, so I don't think that will be a problem to put in. Besides, Kevin Feige, one of the Producers of this project, has stated that it's a "pretty epic" script, what with the depiction of Atlantis and all. So even if they do spend a fair deal of time in Atlantis, I do believe that they will cover enough of Namor's life on dry land as well. You've got to remember: Sub-Mariner IS half human as well. |

vanisher said: Great! So fitting since The Submariner was one of Marvels earliest heroes. One of the elite few Marvel heroes that came about in the Golden Age, along with Captain America, and the Original Human Torch. I had no idea they even had plans for this one, but then Plucky mentioned it elsewhere. Thanks, Plucky!
I couldn't have said it better myself! Thanks, Vanisher! I've been a fan of this comic since the age of 4 (and that's going back a LOOONG way, let me tell ya)! 37 years I've been a fan of Prince Namor's, and I can tell you....... they first off got a TERRIFIC screenwriter for this ("Road to Perdition's" David Self), and I honestly feel that he is going to make a viable adaptation here. My feeling for the LONGEST time, was that they were going to bring in Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson for this part, because he's got a great working relationship with one of the Producers of this film, Kevin Misher, who has Produced 2 of The Rock's films (Scorpion King, The Rundown). So when I saw the latest rumor that The Rock MIGHT be in the running for this part, I wasn't surprised at all. I think it's good business sense, actually. I mean, I don't know if he can act as well as, say, a Christian Bale, who would've been a GREAT choice for the role, but Universal Pictures, I'm sure, is going to want to see a BIG return on this investment, and considering that they shelled out a LOT of dough for the making of Hulk, I'm sure that they don't wanna take any chances by NOT casting a now, LEGITIMATE "movie opening" star like The Rock. I think it's going to be more important to find a top-notch Director, though for this, actually. THAT'S going to be the big question: Who to helm this project?? |

I agree, however if the writing's poor, even a good director can screw it up. I know someone said it was a "pretty epic script" but look at how League turned out....... I'm sure the script for LXG looked good on paper too. So this project does need agood director, but also a good writer. And I also agree that star power is not what's really needed here. just as long as they get someone with massive muscles. Other than that it shouldn't be hard to cast someone as Namor |
