TheGermanMachine said: Yeah, Bale was my premier choice as well, especially after I saw him in American Psycho. His arrogant demeanor coupled with his superb physique would make for a perfect Namor.
Too bad they've cast Bale as Batman, that almost guarantees that he won't be invloved.
Cage is a definite no-no. The freakin' guy's pushing 40, he's been bald since his late 20's and he's a terribly constipated actor, very Kevin Costner.
Maybe a new face is in order, or someone like sayyy
WhoCouldItBe?
While I think that Jude Law is a terrific actor and all, he's just a wee bit too slight to be playing Namor. I felt like many of you did where Christian Bale is concerned for this role..... he could most assuredly embody the princely arrogance that is Namor, also put into account his amazing build. But after he does the newest Batman film, I'm not too sure that he's going to want to do another C2F. Although, you never know. He might have such a great experience on that film, that he might be convinced to do another one. And Sub-Mariner might just do the trick for him. The script is said to be first rate , and if there is one thing that I know.........if you've got a script that people are crowin' about, you can convince a lot of talented people to come on board. We might get to see Bale as Namor: The Sub-Mariner after all! |

| I can understand what you mean, HulkMagneto. It's funny, but SO many people feel that Namor should be portrayed by someone who's got a swimmer's build, because, well, Namor is constantly swimming . But the fact also is, is that Sub-Mariner has ALWAYS been drawn much bigger than what people feel the type of build that he should have. I, for one, can understand why there are so many rumors persisting that The Rock is going to eventually get this part. He's an up and coming, true action star, who has shown some pretty decent actiing chops in "The Rundown" and in "The Scorpion King". However, if they were able to find an actor (such as Bale), who could bulk himself up some more........ I wouldn't mind seeing him in the title role. However, from a pure business sense, it does seem smart to cast The Rock in the part. He's a name action star at this point, and given the fact that this is based on a comic that dosen't seem to have much of a following anymore, it would make sense to bring in a guy like him to be able to open a film like this. But then, hey, this film is slated to come out in '06, and Bale's Batman Begins is coming out in '05; clearly Christian Bale could become a bonifide action star himself when THAT film comes out! So he might do just as well as Namor! But he has to seriously hit the gym harder, first! |
