Marvel Studios' Ari Arad told The Continuum that The Punisher movie is almost completed. The film, written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, will be in theaters on April 16. "The movie he said he was going to make, he made, so that's exciting," Arad said during The Continuum's visit to Marvel Studios earlier this week.
Arad, the son of Marvel Studios honcho Avi Arad, is a co-producer on The Punisher. "We always wanted to do something intense and classic and a movie that's going to kick your ass in the way a movie hasn't in a long time -- and we're there," Arad said. "It's superbly acted and well directed."
Early buzz on the film is that Thomas Jane pulls off the intensity of the character well. "The Punisher's super-powers come from his resolve," Arad said. "It's totally emotion, moreso than any of our characters you've seen. When he puts on that skull, it's a subtle transformation, but he's going out to mete punishment."
