All:

This looks like it will be a high-class production of an award-winning book, but we know that's not always the case.

There have been some very pathetic attempts, and some where the entire children's appeal has been completely lost.

I'm sorry, but things like 'The Grinch' just didn't excite me at all. It's more than the fact that I grew up on the original, there are just some things that should not be made into movies.

Jumanji was another mistake. However, I have high hopes for this film. It might be tastefully handled to make it a classic.

Just musing

Rostron

I'm with you on this one, Rostron2, about 'The Grinch' and it didn't excite me at all, too! About 'Jumanji', I kinda liked it. I hope this movie will be of what I am expecting right now ...

I think it has a lot of appeal to those parents that have read it, too. It will be lighthearted and fun for younger folks. Not as cynical and jaded as some of the recent youth films.

Plus it has one of the ingredients of many great films... a train

Can the movie version of "The Little Prince" be far behind?

Or how about "Big Frog and Little Frog?" and "Big Bear, Little Bear?"

Really nobody like The Grinch ?! I thought it was good and so was Jumunji . But The Cat in the Hat made me throw up , it was so bad I came out the theater crying .

As for Polar Express , from the trailers i'v been seeing this film is going to be good , i'm also looking forward to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , The Twits , Lemony Snickets , All the Wild thing Are , The Tortis and the Hair and Harry Potter 4 , 5 , 6 .

Most movies anymore are based on a book video game or other idea I bought a movie book last year and there was a section in it that had books made into movies and I just couldn't believe all the movies made from a book or based on a book but many of them are good movies so you can't judge Polar Express by the fact that The Cat In THe Hat was terrible which I agree and The Grinch which wasn't the greatest but my children and I found it ok We will just have to see if this movie will be as good as it looks or a flop I myself think that it is going to be very good and I can not wait to take my 7 year old boy to see it he loves trains and he is so excited !
