Audiences, likewise, shouldn't look for [Todd] McFarlane to repeat himself with the second ''Spawn'' movie, currently in development at Columbia Pictures. ''It's not written as a sequel,'' he says. ''It's sort of a reinvention of the idea,'' in which the superheroics will be toned down in favor of dark thriller atmospherics reminiscent of ''Seven.''
