John Leguizamo told SCI FI Wire that if he returns as Clown/Violator in the proposed Spawn 2 sequel film, he would like his character to be more active and for the film to be darker than the original 1997 feature-film version of Todd McFarlane's comic. "I want to keep the same humor, but I want it to be a little more acrobatic, more of a physical nemesis," Leguizamo said in an interview. "He'll be Clown and then go to Violator when he has to. I hope it's dirtier too. There was an R version [of Spawn] that was pretty nice, but I'd like this one to really be R as it should be, as the comic book was."
