"Spawn" creator Todd McFarlane has been talking up a SPAWN revamp for some time now but now he seems to be getting pretty ambitious with casting the main character who, interestingly, isn't the tortured one-time Hell resident. He recently told MTV, "The main character isnt Spawn, per se, its the guy chasing Spawn. And Ive always had [Leonardo] DiCaprio in the back of my mind. Um, and how the hell did you make that leap there, McFarly? "his dad was a big fan of underground comic books and he came from that. Its not a big special-effects movie, its a character movie, so I could shoot it in 40-50 days and you dont have to budget that much time. Sure, DiCaprio may have expressed a passing interest in comic books and/or comic book movies before but signing on to a Spawn movie? Probably not gonna happen. Leonardo has become quite a good actor, and it would be a great way to get some attention to the movie. Spawn doesn't seem very well known outside the UK, and if it's to be launched as a character driven movie with little to no marketing budget it needs star power.

On the other hand I don't see a character from the comic Leonardo would fit without heavy modification. Not to mention the price tag, if Todd was to hire Leonardo would he have enough money left to deliver a polished movie?

Leo's a decent actor, but I've been with the Spawn series since its inception, including all of the mini-series and spinoffs.

I really can't think of ANY character in Spawn that he'd be appropriate to play, unless they're going to make him the guy who gets turned into the Redeemer.

Get over that. You don't share the same opinion as most people here (I did NOT say everyone, just to be clear before you start defending your feelings). Personaly, I love Titanic, I don't find it overrated, and you have stated that you do several times already. We get it. But bring something new to the table please.

As for Leo, I personaly have never seen him in a movie that I DIDN'T love or at least like. He makes good choices in roles. If he took on the Spawn project, I'd be fully behind it if only because he doesn't make bad decisions in terms of his parts.
