The MPAA has been asked by the Better Business Bureau to look into Iron Man ads as well as Drillbit Taylor ads run by Paramount during show aimed at children under 12.
The Iron Man spots are being look at for intense violence.
Another film the MPAA should take a look at for its advertising was STRANGE WILDERNESS also from Paramount, ahem, by the way.
I'm not a radically conservative parent, I took the kids (4 and 6) to see IRON MAN and they absolutely loved it and so did I and really don't see a reason for "looking into" those ads.
However, when TV spots for Strange Wilderness were running during Spongebob Squarepants and Drake & Josh on Nickelodeon, I had a problem. That film was IN NO WAY meant for children. The spots were trying to show the cute animal parts of the film but also showed the "pink thong" scene with Jonah Hill which was COMPLETELY inappropriate during that viewing time. I remember distinctly my four year old saying, "Ewww!"
I thought it was perhaps a mistake, but then the ad aired again the next day and continued to run until the film opened. Really, who in Paramount's marketing department thought these were good ads to run on Nickelodeon? HELLO!
