Here they are, courtesy of Cinescape :
The Top Ten Changes Made for the Re-release of E.T. :
10)
Peter Coyote replaced by Freddie Prinze, Jr. Dee Wallace Stone replaced by Sarah Michelle Gellar. Young Drew Barrymore replaced by current Drew Barrymore.
9) In order to attract the teens, a scene has been added of E.T. humping a pie.
8 ) E.T. gets into a bar fight with Jar Jar Binks.
7) Throughout the re-release version E.T. repeats his new catch phrase, "Whasssssup?!"
6) The famous bike-riding scene has been altered to Elliot and E.T. speeding off in a tricked out car a la The Fast and the Furious .
5) Original government agents trying to capture E.T. were changed to Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in a smooth Men In Black II tie-in.
4) Reeses Pieces. are out. Low-fat Gummi Bears are in.
3) Lots of shots of E.T. getting dressed and nude sunbathing a la Halle Berry in Swordfish .
2) In yet another attempt to make the movie more teen-friendly, the end of the movie has been changed to E.T. finally deciding who he really wants to go to the senior prom with.
1) E.T. sees dead people.

Ugh! I'm glad ET was made 20 years ago, and not today. If it were made today I don't think it would be as good. It would have had too many special effects which I feel would have detracted from the movie, rather than added to it.
