I've heard of and seen bad movies in the past ( The Party, Frankenstein's Daughter Meets Jesse James, The Beast of Yucca Flats ) But this movie has got to be the most horrendous piece of crap in the world! By the way, this is how it ends:
E.T. Flies off in his spacecraft after teeling Elliot that he'll always "be right here" (as he touches Elliot's heart) what a piece of crap!
A bad movie, right and pigs can fly. It makes me and to those can diss the wonderful movie and a great masterpiece. With most crap the passes as movies today. That a movie that touch the world the way it did and that people hate it. It justs boogles the mind. I ied and laughed in the movie, if that makes me less than a man than so be it, frankly i don't give a damn.
the movie ended with et saying "i'll be right here" to eliott and he went on the ship. As the ship raised in the air john williams score played and i got chills.
First off, the movie is great. And second, this isn't no sequel, stupid, it's a re-release.

Does anybody want to bet that the negative hits on this film were made by people, "mayby" not kids. That were not even out of dipers on the original release.

Well...
okay then.
I understand that you don't like the movie.
Well actually I don't understand that you don't like the movie.
Explain.
I'm lost here.
Maybe if you could tell us what you didn't like about it?
Was it the lack of "Stuff Splodin'"?
Was it the fact that everyone kept their clothes on?
Because i just don't see how you can hate this movie.
It's classic.
It's brilliant.
It's heartfelt.
It will pluck the proverbial heartstrings.
It should be required viewing for People Everywhere.
So if you hate E.T do yourselves a favor and never watch any movie ever again. You give moviegoers a bad name.
And i mean that in the nicest way possible.

I never took to it either. Firstly, I tend not to like Spielberg's films - they are the epitome of queasy Hollywood sentimentality. I also found the kid who played Eliott VERY annoying (not quite Jake Lloyd annoying, but bad enough), and his laugh was horrible, and repeated exactly about 500 times. The rubber suit used for E.T himself was so poor that I constantly forgot he was an alien, and not ... well, a guy in a suit. John Williams' score is overrated, and way over-the-top for a film that is hardly an epic. Scenes that may have worked twenty years ago seem almost like spoofs now, and all emotional effect is gone, making it seem like a stereotypical Hollywood film. The changes I heard that Spielberg made to this "special edition" made me laugh out loud. The terrorist-hippie one perhaps isn't so bad (though it still makes you cringe), but the changing of the government agents' guns to walkie-talkies dwarfs even George Lucas' Greedo-shoots-first in A New Hope. How scared would you be if you were approached by a man with a walkie-talkie? And it still makes these kids leg it like their lives are at risk?
I was so pleased when I heard that the special edition didn't make it to number one in the States. It simply doesn't deserve it, and is one of the most ovverated, unentertaining films I've ever seen. And nothing you say is going to change my mind.
