Make the other characters who know her think she's no longer alive. They cry, they reflect. Maybe a love interest is on the brink of revenge. Then, a few chapters down the track, she comes back in magnificent glory to kick some ass. Build up tension, suspense, and give it all a swift twisting kick in the pants.
