fosho574 said: WHAT!? first PG-13 perfect, no need to take it to R but nothing less then PG-13! G is out of the question, even PG, this isnt a childerns book, no kids are checking this bookout of the school library. This is a stroy that has violence why should the older audience that grew up with this book not get the arse kicking? I look at this movie as a tribute the childern of the 80's. The only thing I look forward to more then an awesome battle scenes is the "turkish delights" YUM
Hi fosho, welcome to the board.
Sorry to say, but the story is a children's tale. Mr. Lewis wrote LWW specifically for his niece, Lucy. It's not LOTR, it's much, MUCH tamer. And really, contains not much violence at all. (The story itself, I believe, tells of the big battle in 1 1/2 pages.)
You'd be surprised how much the popularity has kicked up in this book now that the movie's coming out. For example, all 24 copies of the book in my county's libraries are checked out. Have a cluckity cluck cluck day!

Were the first three Potter movies lame?
Were the first FIVE star wars movies lame?
I don't think so. And I don't think Star Wars necessarily got better when it was PG-13.
Trust me, we have nothing to worry about. This movie will still be good.
And, like some of us have said, the later books in the series will probably get a higher rating. Fear not.
Did the first three Harry Potter movies feature war?
Epic battles? Armies going at it with each other?
Sword fights?
Hmmm...I don't think so.
All the Star Wars movies did and only the last one was PG-13. Wow, the first 5 must have had the worst action scenes ever and I didn't notice. I thought they were good but when I realized they were PG, they sucked.
Yeah, again, it's the same thing...ONLY NOT.
A lightsaber is a bit different than a sword.
See, when a sword hits someone, it cuts through skin, muscle, veins, arteries, internal organs and along the way let's flow vital liquids such as blood.
Blood that tends to freak people out and basically determine what a movie is rated.
And when a lightsaber hits someone, it cauterizes (think that's spelled right) everything. No blood.
See how that works?
And while Star Wars did have ships flying and blasting each other in battles...it's again a bit different when you have thousands of living beings coming together to slash, hack, batter, and generally dismember each other in any way possible.
OH, and BTW, I just got done seeing this movie, and I think not only is it a PG rated movie that should be rated PG-13 because of the adult content, but they should've just gone the whole nine yards and REALLY done the whole PG-13 violence bit. It wasn't necessary, but it should be PG-13 anyway, and sort of is.
I would hesitate to take all children under 12 to see this movie, depending on the intelligence level and emotional stature of the child.
Hollywood was afraid that the large Christian fanbase that supports this movie wouldn't support it if it was PG-13...
Apparently they didn't take notes when Passion of the Christ came out.
Hmmm, not surprised.
As much of the country is left stranded for Christmas due to a storm, I wonder what are their thoughts on the credibility of Global Warming? HAHA...
Been saying this for YEARS |
